Looking for a powerful and versatile laptop for graduation or a new year? The HP Omnibook 5 Flip is a fantastic option! It was a spectacular value for the introductory price paid in May 2025! We gifted this to a family member as a graduation present, and I’m confident it will turn out to be a long-lasting and productive computer for them.
From the moment you unbox it, the sleek, minimalist design is appealing; it feels solid and well-built, a welcome departure from some of the more plasticky convertible laptops of recent years. The laptop’s form factor is surprisingly versatile; it seamlessly transitions between a tablet and a laptop mode, offering flexibility for different tasks. It doesn't feel flimsy; the build quality feels robust and durable. I particularly appreciate the backlit keyboard: it’s comfortable to type on, and the large touchpad provides a satisfying tactile experience.
Battery life is exceptional. During my workdays, using streaming videos on a 1920x1200 display, the laptop ran nearly all day without significant strain. It consistently maintained a respectable battery life, even after prolonged use. The Intel Core 5 120U CPU, with its 10 cores, handled most apps with ease, and it was able to comfortably go on standby for several days, still providing hours of usable battery.
While the 8GB of RAM is a bit limiting as a baseline, the laptop performs admirably without needing an upgrade. The fast 512 SSD provides responsive disk I/O, making it a smooth and efficient device. The inclusion of two USB-C ports (including charging) alongside the 2xUSB-A, 1xHDMI, and headphone ports makes it incredibly convenient.
Considering the price, this laptop represents a truly outstanding value. It’s noticeably more expensive now, but it’s a worthwhile investment for those seeking a versatile and capable machine. We’ve seen a few hundred dollars increase since the purchase date.
Overall, the HP Omnibook 5 Flip is a strong recommendation for shoppers at Best Buy. It’s a well-rounded laptop that delivers a good balance of features and performance. It’s a smart choice for anyone looking for a dependable machine.

I’ve had this HP OmniBook 5 Flip for a few weeks now and I’m really impressed. The 2K touch screen is crisp and responsive, and I love being able to flip it into tablet mode when I'm on the couch and for when my daughter wants to draw or play games. It feels sturdy but not heavy, and the Glacier Silver finish looks clean and modern. Typing has been great with the backlit keyboard and the keys feel pleasant under the fingers.
Performance-wise, it handles everything I need — streaming, browsing with lots of tabs open, checking emails, and running several Microsoft apps. I haven't felt any lag in response or feel as though I have pushed the processor. I also don't edit pictures/videos or play games so I don't have any insight to the laptops capabilities in regards to this. The Intel Core 5 chip is fast enough for multitasking, and the 512GB SSD gives me plenty of space with fast boot-up times.
Battery life has been solid too — I have used it on and off the past few weeks and still using the original charge. I was charging my old laptop every 4 hours so this feels light-years ahead in terms of battery life. If you’re looking for a reliable, sleek 2-in-1 for school, work, or general use, this is a great pick. I picked the laptop up for a great deal in the $450 range and at this price point I don't think it can be beat and likely could be in the running for best laptop under $1000. Definitely happy with my purchase.

I’ve been using the HP OmniBook 5 Flip for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly really impressed. The 2K touchscreen is super clear and responsive, and I love how easily it flips into tablet mode—perfect for streaming, reading, or taking notes.
Performance is solid for everyday stuff like web browsing, emails, video calls, and even a bit of light photo editing. The Intel Core i5 runs smooth, and the 512GB SSD makes everything feel snappy. It’s also really lightweight, so it’s easy to carry around.
Battery life has been great—I can usually get through the whole day without needing to charge. The only thing to keep in mind is the 8GB of RAM—it’s enough for normal use, but might be limiting if you’re doing heavy multitasking or creative work.
Overall, this is a sleek, well-built laptop that’s perfect for students, professionals, or anyone who wants a flexible and reliable everyday device.

The HP OmniBook 5 Flip stands out for its impressive display, sleek design, and solid performance. There is only one thing that I am unhappy about with this laptop and that is that you cannot upgrade the RAM it is pretty slow which can get very frustrating. I made the bad assumption that I could upgrade it before I purchased it and did not find out till afterwards which is my bad
I returned one that had a small dent in the case and noticed that this one has a small crack in the back but I was done returning. It's well package so I don't understand what happened but I can live with a little split. I would say that probably happened at the factory because it was obvious it had never been opened
The price was right as it was on Memorial Day sale and I just needed something small. I probably would have bypassed it had I known about the ram but it'it is what it is. I love the keyboard and the screen and the fact that you can flip it. I'll do what I can to speed it up but stuck on the 8 GB

This laptop has about the same specs as the very old desktop it’s replacing. I had to buy a disk drive for it. I upgraded to Windows Pro and it was very quickly restored to my settings and preferences of mentioned desktop. I don’t find the tablet mode practical for me due to its size and weight. It has the option for facial recognition as well as pin. The trackpad and keyboard are fantastic as far as responsiveness and comfort. The backlight keyboard and screen are great for my usage. I would recommend this as an affordable transportable computer for typing documents on the go without losing the comfort of a regular keyboard size. The sound is adequate.for light YouTube videos in my opinion. I like the physical camera block and how the screen is set to lock up as soon as you leave. The upgrades were faster than expected. I like how it has two USB A and two USB C ports as one is for charging. It has an earphone jack and an HDMI port which I have not used.

I've been using this laptop for almost 2 months now, and I must say, it’s very good. The performance is smooth and reliable, making it perfect for both work and everyday use. The battery life is impressive, lasting several hours without needing a charge, and the screen quality is sharp and vibrant.
The build feels solid and premium, and the keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions. It handles multitasking with ease and runs all my applications without any lag.
Overall, this is a great laptop that offers excellent value for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable and efficient device.

Pros: The 360-degree flip design is a game-changer—laptop, tablet, tent, and reverse modes all work seamlessly! The 2K touch screen is vibrant, and the Intel Core 5 processor handles my daily tasks (browsing, streaming, and light photo editing) with ease. 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD provide decent speed and storage.
Cons: Battery life is good but not amazing—lasts about 8-9 hours with moderate use.
Verdict: Great for students or casual users who need versatility. The Glacier Silver finish looks sleek and premium!

The HP OmniBook 5 Flip is a solid 2-in-1 laptop that’s easy to like for everyday use. The touchscreen looks sharp and works smoothly, and the design feels sturdy and modern. It’s great for things like browsing, writing, or watching videos, and it handles most basic tasks without trouble. There are a few downsides, like the lack of a keyboard backlight and some preloaded apps that feel unnecessary. A few people have also mentioned small bugs, like Bluetooth or sleep mode acting up. Still, if you’re looking for a flexible, good-looking laptop that can switch between work and casual use, this one’s a good pick

I recently made an HP-OMNIBook 5 Flip Laptop purchase and I think it has a great purchase. The design is very good and has some interesting features and excellent speed and battery life. I’m really enjoying everything. It has been very easy to learn new safety features with the copilot app and the size is perfect for traveling. I’m an older person and it was well worth the investment. Thank you.

It's very fast. Works good. I like the feature to where you open your tablet. It automatically comes on and recognizes your face. If it does not recognize your face, you have to enter a code or a pin. Has good storage amount and it's good for school. Only downfall is the battery goes quick.
