Good on paper, bad in real life usage
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot recommend this device to anyone. On paper, it seemed like a very good purchase for the specs it has. But after one year of normal graduate school level use, it has begun to fail. Just weeks before the manufacturer one year warranty ended, I had to send it in for repair and ended up having the motherboard replaced. During normal usage, the laptop would slow down and lag and would need to be restarted for normal performance. After receiving the laptop back from repair all was well for about 3 weeks before it would randomly restart under heavy usage with multiple programs open/multitasking. I cannot rely on this laptop anymore and am actively looking for another to replace it. Side not, I have no preference for any brand, but this is the second time that HP has let me down. Last time was about 8 years ago when I purchased an HP printer and had nothing but issues with the print head during the first couple months of ownership. Again, under normal usage! I am starting to see a pattern with the quality of their products. I will be avoiding any HP products in the future.

I like it but with concerns
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In general terms, it is a computer that meets most expectations, but it does leave me with a bittersweet taste since some freezing problems are presented, which worry me since it shouldn't happen due to the RAM it has.

Great laptop.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would rate this around 4.7 because is excellent overall function. The only thing i dont like from this unit is the placent of the usb -C slot. It should have place one of each side for easy access or put an extra one on the left side.

Freezes, display glitches, and zero help
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 (Ryzen AI 9 365, 32GB/1TB, 2.2K touch) and it has been a headache from day one. The system randomly goes into “slow motion” and then completely freezes — especially in web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Brave). It never recovers, so I’m forced to hard-restart every time. On top of that, the display will sometimes freeze part of the page (half to ~75%) while the rest scrolls, like the screen is stuck in layers. I did everything by the book: factory reset, Windows updates, BIOS/driver updates (multiple times), HP diagnostics — the problems keep coming back. I paid around $1,000 for this in Oct 2024, and a laptop this new should not behave like this. Support has been just as frustrating. I was told in an HP chat that I had 52 days of warranty left in late September, but the portal then showed “expired” the following week, so I couldn’t get service. Now I’m stuck with an unreliable machine when I need it most for school. Between the constant freezing, display glitches, and warranty run-around, I can’t recommend this model. Save your money and look elsewhere. (Model/SKU reference: HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0013dx, Ryzen AI 9 365, 2.2K touch, 32GB/1TB — the exact one sold here.)

Great Windows laptop, but lacks inputs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic little Windows laptop, aimed squarely at the professional/creative/business crowd. It will also work for any college student, but may be “overkill” for that purpose. Upon unboxing, it’s easy to see why. You get the laptop, a charger, some documentation, and a little soft sleeve. The laptop uses a brushed aluminum finish, one that looks and feels premium. There is no flex or creakiness to note, either. It’s sleek, modern, and classy. The charging cable is also braided which is a nice touch. Once you get the device out you’ll notice how slim and lightweight it is for using such high-end components. It’s not an ultralight device, but compared directly to say a 14” MacBook Pro it’s right on par with those dimensions and weight, which is nearly the standard. Though, considering the MBP has more inputs to use you could argue that would be an issue (but more on that later). At any rate, once you’re powered on you’ll notice the screen. It’s a 2.2k glossy IPS panel that uses a 16:10 ratio and one that boasts 100% sRGB. It’s a decent looking display, and seems color accurate out of the box. That said, it’s not very bright at 400 nits. I was hoping for more, and the large bezels detract from the image itself. It’s a touch screen though, which is nice. Performance wise there’s not much to say. Yes, it’s very fast and can handle nearly any workload you may encounter or use case. You can look up other reviewers who threw the laptop into benchmarks, but for nearly anyone you’ll find it plenty fast and speedy overall. It’s a 10-core, 20-thread power efficient APU, outperforming the M3 Pro and M2 Max chips albeit with slightly higher power consumption. The RAM has good speed and won’t slow you down either. The biggest drawback to this laptop is merely the inputs. It’s nice to have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and one USB A port, but that’s all that’s included. It’s hard to market this as a creative laptop without an SD card slot or any more inputs overall. There is Wi Fi 7 2x2 included which is a great plus, and the included speakers are actually decent, though you’ll want to tweak the sound settings with the included DTS:X Ultra license. Battery life is very good, and I could comfortably make it through about 9 hours of normal use on one charge. The keyboard feels responsive and keys have a nice touch/finish to them, all while being backlit of course. Copilot+ is interesting, but I didn’t really use it overall. Microsoft seems to still be figuring out how to implement it. That all said, it’s a great Windows laptop in a small and sleek package. I do think the lack of inputs and large bezels are areas that HP could improve on, and for that I’m taking away a star. Other than that, it’s a close rival to the MBP area of business-oriented portable devices, and one you should consider if it can meet your needs.
