PC does a great job of providing internet connection to TV. Attached 5 TB external hard drive and have easy access to all my digital movies, music, and photos.

I bought one then two months later bought two more for my office. They are perfectly suitable for normal house old usage, email, word, picture editing, etc. It would not make a great or even good high end gaming system. I use one at home for a karaoke computer and watching movies, and the two at work are for presentation displays. I have had no problem with them, though the free upgrade to Windows 10 was trying.

    Great Little Compuer

I was skeptical with the specs of the CPU but once I cleaned the disk of some of the bloatware, this little thing is great. Much snappier than I expected and very easy to upgrade. Going to add more RAM and maybe an M.2 42mm SSD. I could change out the current HD for an SSD but the HD in the machine is pretty snappy too so I might as well add a second hard drive in the M.2 slot which most other mini computers do not have. . Multiple USB 3's and Display options. Takes up almost no space. The keyboard and mouse could be better but they work fine for me. No lag like some others have reported. I have it next to my Mac Mini and don't see that much of a speed difference. I think when I add the RAM and SSD, it will be faster, and cheaper.

We were able to hook this up to our TV via the HDMI cord (it doesn't have a normal port for a computer screen to be plugged in). Works great and the functioning is quick!

I bought this to essentially be a thin client to my virtual machine but with basic capabilities for web browsing, programming and basic web development. It worked great for all this. I made a Trump tweet generator involving large Markov chain matrices with it, so it's got some basic capabilities. Less than two weeks after purchase the hard drive reported imminent failure so we returned it. That was disappointing and so I bought something else to replace it.

I've had this computer for 3 mos and like most everything about it. Used for streaming Netflix and other apps without issues. I've used it to run the slingbox option from Dish. Cyberlink Power Director 13 ran without any hiccups. No problems with the internet connection even though it is in the basement(down 1 floor). Asus dual band router. Added 4 gb memory and a 1 tb HGST drive (that I already had), deleted some bloatware and the machine runs well. Updated the software requirements over a few months without any problems. Cannot speak to it's gaming potential since I'm not a gamer. I bought the newer version (300-220) later and have had positive results.

I wanted something that I could hook up to my main HDTV and watch downloaded TV shows and movies. This fits the bill and plays everything without a hitch. I purchased an extra 4 gb of ram (a little over $20) popped it in (extremely easy) and booted it up. I upgraded to Windows 10 without a hitch....used the HP Assistant to download all the latest drivers....installed KODI and am enjoying it. It works perfectly.

    Stutter... Stutter... Stutter

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this for $200 during a four hour sale, so for the price it's not bad at all. I've read other reviews and a couple mentioned stuttering (about 1sec pauses while moving the mouse) and I just thought it must be a bad batch from those reviews as I didn't see it mentioned in buyer reviews. Mine has it. Even with the RAM upgraded, SSD, and Win 10 I get a stutter ever few seconds. Most likely, under normal usage (web browsing, media playing - it's mostly used for a PLEX server) I don't notice it. But if I have to interact with it the stuttering does wear on you. I haven't checked to see if there's a BIOS update, but hopefully this is just a software issue with an easy fix soon. As for a PLEX server, this thing is doing great! It's as powerful as my old C2D e6600 according to passmark and hasn't had any problems streaming. Only downside, like my e6600, it most likely won't be able to handle multiple streams. But, since I'm the only one using my PLEX server, it's not a big deal. My daughter watches YouTube mostly and my wife watches news all day. So, for $200, it's a decent server that only pulls 4watts idle and I've only seen it go up to 16w under use using a Kill-a-Watt.

Great HTPC with a a poor Keyboard and Mouse.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Positives: If you are looking for a nice HTPC, do not look beyond it is a nice device. Small and neat to be fit inside the Entertainment center along with other toys. The Processing power and Ram is just right. If a need on the RAM is felt, a quick upgrade with the inexpensive 4GB DDR3 Module in the second slot would do the job. Make sure that you have an 1080P TV ( I Stress on the P very much ) . On 1080i TV there are challenges with scaling etc. On a 1080P it is practically plug and play. Very snappy performance so far. Good 500GB HDD space. The Down side. 1) Poor quality Keyboard and mouse( Specifically). Does not respond well to longer distance, especially if you are more than 7 feet away from the TV. 2) The USB adapter is not the Micro adapter . It is the long large legacy adapter. It needs to be fitted in the front side USB Port (Due to its poor quality and connectivity) . 3) The adapter when fitted on the front side make this cute little device look Ugly. All the aesthetics while designing the HTPC box is lost with the USB adapter in the front !!! These 3 points made it lose 1 star. 4) As usual bloatware from HP. Uninstall the bloatware and sanitize the Start screen for a better feel. 5) I noticed drop in network connections a few times initially. But it looks to be over it. I will update this post if this persists . Solution: Buy the Logitech K400 Keyboard. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-k400-wireless-keyboard-black/3764993.p?id=1218431571141&skuId=3764993 What I miss: A Optical Audio Connectivity.

Desktops are dinosaurs, but this one Excellent

    Posted .

As this was a gift for a parent, there are still some folks out there old school and feel the only way to own a computer is to have a desktop. Well, I think desktops are stupid and laptops do everything one could want and more. However, since I did choose this particular desktop as it was the least offensive desktop I could find, I'm really liking it very much. It isn't big, old fashioned and clunky like old desktops. This is excellent in every way, it's fantastic, fast, quiet, wonderful....for a desktop....I still say to everyone, dump the desktops, get a laptop, Jeez......but this is a really great product if you still believe a desktop is needed........this one is a good one off exception, don't get any other desktop dinosaur.

Nice size for what it is. But I found that the mouse and key board are junk not worth the coast to make them. Hp should know better. Here is whats up with it. If you get more then a few ft away it laggs and hangs. And make it useless for what it was intended. The pc is self seam to work fine. But who wants to buy a pc then have to go buy a keyboard and mouse because the one it came with is junk. Also it should come with a backup chip for rebooting. So it is over priced for what it is should be around $150 item. ps lets see if bestbuy will post a not so good review.

I bought the HP mini to replace an old computer, and not have to buy another all in one, which was more money than I wanted to spend. This is very affordable, and I hooked it up to an extra flat screen,it was very easy to install everything.Works great, and with an HDMI plug I purchased, looks great too.Does everything I want, and I'm extremely happy with it.
