I recieved my e9290f exactly one week ago and have experienced NONE of the problems that other reviewers have talked about. No BSODs, no crashes, and no lock-ups. Seems to me that HP got its act together and fixed any problems this unit may have had. This computer has so far run everything I've thrown at it flawlessly. Windows 7 is great! Only thing I'm not a fan of is the lack of blu-ray drive and TV tuner, but I can probably add those myself down the line.

I had the Geek squad do Optimization and restore Cds out of the box as advice by the sales person and no issues yet. Works great and very super fast machine, more speed that I need it but I love it. I had the geek squad do other service on my other computers and never had an problem yet. I believe that most user screw up the systems and put the blame on the products and the service tech.
This machine is great, cost more but you get what you paid for it.

After reading other reviews about this computer, i will have to admit i was leery. I would have hated to spend this much money and gotten a blue screen of death. As it stands, i have yet to see said screen. The computer runs great. It is enough that i won't have to upgrade anything for quiet some time. That being said, i am disappointed with one thing. There is no Micro SD slot. I know this is minor, but it is the only thing i can complain about.

Have not suffered any of the problems on other reviews. Hate the HP software that came with it. I looked over all of the "boards" and decided to not use a screen saver nor any power edicts. Perhaps that did it. All I know is that after 2 weeks of continuous running I have had not one issue. Have Dual 23" monitors and they are sharp as heck

The 9GB RAM is plenty, I keep mulitple applications opened with no lag when switching in between apps. The wireless 802.11 N card on board is very beneficial to have.
Overall I cant really complain about my computer its really awesome!!

HP Pavilion Elite e9290f: Return it ASAP!

My machine continually kept generating an interrupt that was not handled within the prescribed time interval. The result: a Blue Screen of Death. My machine was crashing 6 times each day. HP Technical support finally identified a problem with my machine that extended to all Elite Pavillions: a faulty motherboard. HP's Solution? Upgrade the extended warranty, and we will fix the problem in your home--in about a week. No Thanks. Best Buy was great to deal with. Took the machine back, no questions asked. Subsequently, a friend sent me the following article:
"November 16, 2009 (Computerworld) A Colorado man has sued Hewlett-Packard, saying that its Pavilion Elite desktop computers are "inherently defective," and constantly lock up within 10-20 minutes of use.
The lawsuit, which was filed with a California federal court last Thursday, seeks class-action status that, if granted, would open the case to all HP customers who have purchased one of the allegedly defective PCs."

This computer is filled with features. Some reviews indicate this computer may have problem with the mother board. I will have to wait and reserve judgement until I have more experience with it.

With in a day of installing this machine I had harddrive failure, further testing also found that I also had a bad motherboard.
HP customer service was horrible but Best Buy was fantastic. I returned the computer with no hassel. Was very impressed with Best Buy.

I thought I was buying a higher end machine with the latest technology and a great graphics card, but I never got a chance to utilize all the features.
It was easy to set up, but started crashing while playing one of my older games(Doom 3). This happened several times. I did some research and it seems the unit has a faulty motherboard which requires a repair by HP. I am not willing to have a repair done on a new $1250 computer. It appears that most other Best Buy reviewers have returned their units as well.
I must say that returning the computer was hassle free. It's just a shame that HP didn't do thorough testing to make sure the components were solid.
I bought a shelf unit(HP pavillion 9220) which seems to be working fine and was $450 cheaper. I'm testing it out with Call of Duty/Modern Warfare2 and it is performing flawlessly. Gues I didn't need that hot graphics card anyway.

I received the product on a Friday and promptly took it to Best Buy (Geek Squad) and had them optimize it for me. I picked it up on Sunday. Sunday night the computer froze up twice. Monday morning when waking up from hibernation experienced the dreaded BLUE SCREEN of DEATH. Shut it down, turned back on and seemed to work well for the day. Tuesday morning, another BLUE SCREEN of DEATH. Worked well for a few hours, then randomly shut down in the middle of project without warning. Tuesday evening, another BLUE SCREEN. Returned it Wednesday monring and ordered a Dell. Not sure it was just this computer or that it was an HP (was my first and last HP). Buy with caution!!!

This computer had great specs so I purchased it with high hopes, but was tremendously disappointed as I started using if over the course of a few weeks. I got blue screends constantly for no reason, the computer kept crashing... I did some research on the cause, and it seems like the HP pavillion elite series all use a certain type of motherboard that is defective. I returned mine today and I will never purchase from HP again.
