Great 2-in-1 Laptop

This is a great 2-in-1 laptop for anyone looking for mobility, lots of SSD storage, and speed. It is a beautiful machine containing everything you need to future-proof your purchase (e.g. thunderbolt ports, USB-C ports, etc.).
One thing that is annoying is that the fan runs quite frequently even when not utilizing heavy applications. HP fixed it partly with some updates, but not completely. Also, there are almost no options for screen protectors which are necessary for 2-in-1, touchscreen laptops due to their sensitive screens.
Overall, two thumbs up!

I have owned this laptop for a week now and have absolutely loved every minute of it. Using this laptop for school and work has been a joy and I feel attracted to keep working so I can use this machine.
Performance is amazing, the display is rich and vibrant, the color combo is unique and luxurious feeling, the keyboard is fantastic and speakers as good.
I picked this up on a Best Buy DOD for an amazing price and have loved it so much that I sold my Surface Laptop 2. The 2 in 1 form factor is a huge win, love that the pen is included in the package and it comes with a nice sleeve to store your laptop when not in use.
The port selection is on par with what you expect from today's laptops. Which made it a more attractive option over the Surface Laptop 2.
I can not say enough good things about this laptop, its a pure joy to use and work on. My only cons would be battery life, which is to be expected for a 4K display and the trackpad sucks. I downloaded precision drivers and the trackpad works so much better now.
This is my first HP laptop so the jury is still out on how well the machine will hold up over time, but so far I am loving this computer and couldn't be more happy with my purchase.

Great laptop, but bad drawing software

This laptop is wonderful. I've had absolutely no hiccups when it comes to performance. However, it has the absolute loudest fan and drawing or writing with the stylus is impossible. I thought something was wrong with the screen or some hardware component, but its definitely the software. Sad to say, my next laptop will probably not be from this line. If you don't mind the drawing problem, this laptop is a keeper. Just make sure to disable HID Pen, otherwise, you'll run into some problems.

I am currently a college student and needed a laptop. I did a lot of research and came across this one. I was debating whether to get the HP Spectrum 360x or the MacBook since they are both in the price range. I ultimately went with the HP and it is the best decision I have made. It is the perfect size, super fast and efficient so you can do your homework and write notes in class. Really nice laptop overall. I’m impressed

I was using a Microsoft Surface Pro 5 before this one. Get the 4K version. It's the best deal for the money. I saw price went down recently and it's worth it. This laptop can handle Adobe Premiere Pro and many other resource hungry Apps with ease. just love the way it looks and feels. Battery lasts a long time and the keyboard is easy to use.
Only drawbacks are, no volume controls when using as Tablet and few ports. Everything else is great. Recommended!!!

A Well-Designed 2-in-1 Notebook

This is a powerful Windows 10-based Notebook by Hewlett-Packard. It belongs to the class of very portable but powerful systems typified by the Microsoft Surface Laptop, the Dell XPS and the Lenovo Yoga. The Spectra x-360 is very well designed; perhaps so well designed that it takes some looking to find the on/off button, which fits into the hinge. The fan is somewhat less silent than its competitors -- a typical problem for HP -- but sufficiently quiet that it would not be noticed most of the time. The metal construction and finishing are top class. The 16GB model is fast and very responsive. It uses the USB C interface of which it has two. There are also very few pre-installed commercial ware; the exception being a one-month trial of the McAfee antivirus. Best Buy offers a six-month trial of an alternative. One can of course stick with the Windows-provided Defender. On the whole, and comparing it with other similarly equipped laptops, it's a very good buy for the price.

While I have only had it a couple of weeks, so far I have been very impressed with this computer. I like the look and feel, as well as it's overall lightness. It is very fast and responsive, has great graphics, and most features have been intuitive and easy to learn. I look forward to experiencing more of its features.

Great convertible laptop if you are mobile and want something lightweight. The design is also gorgeous and sure to catch some interest. Display is awesome, battery life is so so. Minus one star for being a bit too hot. The texture is also a fingerprint magnet. I’m a little salty that this is now $500 off just a month after I bought mine.

I wen to the Arlington Best Buy on a Friday needing to purchase the right laptop before I left the next day on an international business trip. I ‘d done my research and had narrowed my choices down to 3, this laptop being one of them. I wanted to purchase a Dell because I am computer illiterate and Dell’s telephone tech support is consistently rated the best and HP’s is rather poor. This laptop, however, sold itself within minutes. It’s incredibly light (critical to me because I have significant back problems and travel almost daily with my laptop). It, nonetheless, has long battery life, plenty of memory and is super speedy. It looks great- smooth lines & great platinum blue color (another important benefit). Got a terrific price and terrific assistance with the purchase. Could not be happier.

so far so good with this laptop. The blue is dark blue and looks good with he gold trim. I've been carrying it everyday for the last couple weeks and you hardly know you have it. It is fast and takes on work well! I can load up 100 high res photos in viewer or lightroom and it runs just fine.

Very portable and lightweight. Long battery life when fully charged to start. Needs a case as the sleeve feels a little thin. Highly recommend a fresh OS install as HP installs a lot of additional software that's unnecessary for most users but you can delete the majority of it!

The late 2018 Spectre x360 is great little laptop

All in all, the late 2018 Spectre x360 gem cut is a great laptop. I'll list a few pros and cons below, but truly, the cons are minor nitpicks in the scheme of things. Definitely recommend checking this laptop out. It offers great bang for the buck, especially as compared to the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 and offerings from Dell and Lenovo. It's lightweight and easy to transport. Also comes with a carrying sleeve, though I haven't used it yet. The pen seems to work well too.
Pros: comfy keyboard with even backlight; great touchscreen, very bright (4K resolution is overkill on this size screen, but at a comfortable zoom level everything looks great); battery life is decent considering the specs, typically get 7 to 8 hours with Outlook, Windows 10 email, Windows weather app and Chrome running with 14+ tabs open; good port selection for a small form factor; speakers sound good; works great with my CableMatters Thunderbolt 3 docking station and external 4K monitor; the Windows Hello facial recognition and finger print login both work well
Cons: the metal interior for the palm rest and metal exterior are finger print magnets; it can get a bit warm on the bottom under heavy load (the two air intakes are on the bottom, be sure to set it on a solid surface, no carpet or upholstery); fans can be a bit noisy under load (under normal conditions like browsing and email, the fans rarely kick in at all - I've left the cooling mode set to balanced, though there are other choices); the chin on the top and bottom of the screen is very large by today's standards, but it is a 4K 16:9 screen - a 3K screen with a 3000 x 2000/3:2 ratio would be a nice option but as mentioned above, it's a minor nitpick

Super light and great battery life, boots quickly and zips through software installs. There’s no HDMI and only 1 USB port, but it’s not really thick enough for much more than the USB-C ports anyway. Comes with a leather carrying pouch and stylus.

Thin but sturdy - it feels "substantial" in my hands. It's a bit "weighty" but that feels like quality to me. Screen size is just perfect for me and it's touch capable which is really nice. It has USB C connections that are fast. Touch pad works great. Sound out of the Bang and Olufsen speakers is surprisingly full and rich sounding. The only problem I've experienced (and this may be Windows rather than laptop related) is that it will not shutdown fairly frequently. I have to hold the power button down until it powers off. Not ideal. So far, it has always booted up the next time with no problems. All in all, I like this laptop a lot.

HP did an excellent job with this laptop. As a laptop, it's quite good. Decent power and battery life combo with the 4K screen. Got about 7 hours of Netflix streaming at 4K, which beat my expectations.
Screen color is ok, but feels like it lacks when compared to recent Apple laptop/tablet screens. Whether this is due to a difference in brightness, a difference in color gamut or other, I do not know.
Sound is ok from the speakers, but is best when in laptop mode. Lacks punch and volume in other configurations.
As a laptop, it's excellent. As a media streamer in the kitchen, for instance, it's ok. As a tablet, it's uh, too heavy to be practical.
One other note: at times, it seemed to struggle with multiple applications. This may have been due to programs I had installed and the fact that I uninstalled every dumb preinstalled HP app on the device. It ran better before I uninstalled, but I didn't bother with an analysis. Take that as you will.
If you want it as a traditional laptop, I think I can recommend it, as I assume the rare slowness was specific to my use.
It's ok if you want to occasionally use it as the V or L shapes the 2-in-1 provides.
It's not so good as a tablet in my use.
So long as you are ok with not using the Spectre X360 as a tablet, it's a worthy device. The design of Thunderbolt 3 ports is smart, angling one 45 degrees does help when using a mouse, so long as you don't use both Thunderbolt 3 ports simultaneously.
It's not perfect and didn't fit my use, but it's got some very good points and few negatives. It's an excellent value under $1000. Moderate value at o
$1300. I'm torn whether it's worth it at MSRP.
Thanks for reading!

I’m not super techy, so I’m not going to tell you all the specifics that you can find in the product page anyway. This laptop is incredibly thin and weighs next to nothing. It folds over and can be used as a touch screen only (locks the keyboard). It starts up really fast and seems to run all programs well so far. Battery life is ok, it may work with low brightness and one program open for several hours but you’ll probably only get 3 hours or so watching a movie on it (by the way, the graphics are great—movies look good on it). The sound is better than on my older/ 5x the size laptop.
My only issue is with the touch screen occasionally not selecting what I’m tapping (with my finger—don’t have any issues with the pen that comes with it). Also, not so much an issue for me, but it doesn’t come with an hdmi slot...
I will say that I have discounts from different things and I would’ve gotten this a lot cheaper had I looked at those sites and HP. However, it was still a good buy and I’m happy I made this choice to get it at Best Buy (geek squad and their add on warranty usually make purchases like this worth it).
I would probably give it a 9/10, but since the score is out of 5, I felt compelled to round up.
