Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the responsive touch screen, strong performance, and lightweight design of the Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop. Positive feedback also frequently mentions the long battery life and fast SSD. However, some users note that the laptop can get warm during use and that the fan can be noisy at times. The relatively high price point is also a recurring concern for some customers.

I bought this laptop a month and a half ago, but it was yesterday when I first had the opportunity to use it for the first time. The first impression: Visually looks much better than in photos. The black onyx color along with the golden edges give the appearance of a premium and luxury PC. The SSD is really fast (Attached a crystalDiskMark test results). Windows restarts in less than 22 seconds and with the Windows 10 fast startup enabled, the system becomes operational (after pressing the power button) in less than 10 seconds. The fans don't work all the time, only when it is necessary, thus giving a quiet environment while working. I expected speakers Bang & Olufsen to have a higher level of sound at full volume compared to my 4 year old Vaio (vpcf-236fmb model that has a good sound), however that does not mean a problem. Overall performance is very good, the 4k display and vivid colors give a nice experience. The USB type C and thunderbolt ports give a great value, they worked properly when I plugged two external disks through a Type C to USB 3.0 Port, with good data transfer speeds between the 2 disks. Also noticed that when it is not plugged-in and using only battery power, the performance does not decrease significantly, the system does not slow down either, but of course maybe that would not be the case when playing games (I have not tested games yet), however common tasks like photo editing, programing, working with word or excel files, watching videos or listening to music are fluid while using the battery. I have not tested the battery life yet, but based on previous reviews, I consider that the average usage time of 6 to 9 hours is a plus and very useful when traveling or working outside, you can easily conclude a labor day. And if it was not enough, fast charging: 50% in less than 30 minutes is great. I still need to continue testing (today is the first day), but so far, I consider to have done the necessary tests to conclude that this Spectre X-360 is a powerful laptop and definitely it is worth the money.

Amazing product. Hasn't disappointed me with its performance so far. The only setbacks I see are the weight of the laptop and the volume. It's a little to heavy for my liking and the volume is a little on the lower side. Also, I had to buy a multi USB port drive since it only has a slot for one.

    A Really Nice Laptop!

I was looking to replace my 2010 MacBook Pro 17" w/1st Generation Quad-Core i7. That computer has been the best I have ever owned in the 30+ years I have been using personal computers! It still rocks for everything but gaming even today! I think I've got some good perspective because I go back to the days of the original IBM PC but that is another discussion. In 2015, I bought my son a 13" Spectre x360 w/Core i5. I was very impressed with it. Good performance, long battery life, good set of ports, etc. So now it was my turn. The "little" laptops are too small for me. I like the bigger displays and I don't need to slip it in my backup so this model caught my interest when I saw it announced at CES this year. I pre-ordered it and received the computer today! Here's my initial impressions: a beautiful design and light @4 1/2 lbs when compared to my 17" MacBook Pro! The reviewers who say it is heavy need a little perspective .. haa haa! The screen is great with native 4K resolution. There is no problem having enough real estate to arrange multiple apps and windows without "losing" them if you know what I mean. Sure Windows has some nice tricks to arrange things but that can get annoying. More than snappy enough for using Adobe Lightroom CC to manage and adjust my photos, run browser, e-mail, Outlook, PowerPoint, and the other Office apps. My best point of reference will be using Handbrake on it which is something I used on my Quad-Core MacBook Pro all the time. Handbrake will use every CPU cycle your processor has to offer so I'm anxious to do a little comparison on timing between the two. I haven't had a chance yet but will update here if the site allows me. The touch screen is nice and the main reason I decided to go to Windows PC because Apple isn't offering that yet on their laptops. I don't see the "tablet thing" getting much use in my case but maybe I will be surprised. Price was also attractive as a new top-end MacBook Pro is an least $1K more. I decided to give the lower performance but better price PC a try. So far, I'm happy with my choice :)

I bought the Spectre x360 model number: 15-BL012DX and had to return the first one to Best Buy the next day because the touch pad would intermittently stop responding. I figured, this must have been a lemon and exchanged it for another at Best Buy hassle free! Thank you Best Buy. When trying to turn the computer on the power button caved it. I've included a picture. I'm really put out with HP's quality it this $1500 laptop and wish I had gotten something else after the first one gave me issues.

I don't upgrade my computers very often, perhaps once every 4 years or so. My last two computers had been a MacBook Pro, and an iMac. I had initially had every intention to continue with Apple and get a MacBook Pro again. I am very much tied into the Apple ecosystem. My family uses iPads, iPhones, and Apple TV daily so figured I would continue with an Apple product as my next computer. Obviously, I chose not to go that direction, and instead invested in this beautiful laptop. Two things always kept me going back to Mac, ease of use, and great build design. When I began to research I noticed a few things. Apple was no longer far and away the easiest to use, or the most well designed. Also, Apple has always offered less hardware power for the amount of money that you are paying, but that was always offset because of it's amazing software. This HP Sepctre is everything that I wish I would have found in an Apple amazing design, 4k screen, great up to date hardware, and some current useful features. You can make the argument that the TouchBar offered on the new MacBooks are great, but I feel that I am using my touchscreen, 2-in-1 foldable design, and Pen far more than I would have used the TouchBar. This laptop is fast, boots up within seconds, and Windows Hello (IR camera) allows you to log in super quick without having to type in any passwords, or touch a fingerprint reader. The screen is amazing, the keys are great to type on, and the touchpad works flawlessly. The hinges are just the right stiffness to allow you to move between the different 2-in-1 modes. The Pen works great, and this is from someone who has also been using the Apple pencil on my iPad Pro. I've been using my Spectre for a little over a month, and have loved every minute using it. I have zero regrets about going with a Windows 10 machine after using Apple for the last 10 years. Microsoft seems to have greatly increased their game, and is right in line with the ease of use I expected from an Apple product. I would highly recommend this laptop, unless you are looking to play some current high end games.

    An Amazing Multipurpose Laptop

Coming from a 4 year-old 15.6 inch laptop, I was amazed at how small this HP Spectre x360 is. Design-wise, it is a very solid laptop with excellent materials that barely show fingerprint smudges. It does have some heft, but to me, it’s not heavy or light. It’s about what I expected for a laptop with a 15.6” screen and a very large battery. + The 4K screen is amazing! It's crisp, bright, color accurate, and has tons of screen real estate (the main reason to buy a 15+ inch laptop)! I can truly open 2 documents side-by-side on a laptop screen without any overlap (I only use 150% scaling instead of the default 250%). + Keyboard is phenomenal! The keys are a pleasure to type on (good travel with a clean break that doesn't feel squishy). I also like the added row of buttons down the right side. + Speakers are surprisingly good! They're loud and sound more natural (less tinny) than most laptops. + Audio out (3.5mm headphone/mic port) is surprisingly powerful which is great (and rare) for those with high impedance headphones! There is no noise from the motherboard leaking into my headphones. I think it helps that the audio chip looks to be separate from the motherboard. + The HP is a very snappy system (mine came with the Samsung 960 SSD) with plenty of room thanks to the 16GB of replaceable SODIMM RAM and a 512GB combo. + The Nvidia 940MX with 2GB memory is better than expected and allows me to play a lot of casual or older games that I otherwise could not do at all. I can even play Overwatch at med settings with good FPS. + Great battery despite the screen and the speed of this system. Regularly get 7-8 hours with heavy (non-gaming) use and with the screen brightness at 60%. + It charges VERY fast...even when you are actively using it with 100% brightness. Keep in mind that it will charge very fast until it starts getting closer to full, then it will slow down the charge-rate (probably so not to damage the battery). + Included pen works well. As an added bonus, it works on the Microsoft Surface line (and the Surface pen works on this HP). + The port selection is perfect for my needs! I especially love the Thunderbolt 3 port so that I have the option of adding an external GPU if my family won't get off of the desktop and I want to play the latest games. + The price-point is perfect for me and trying to get all of these same specs with other manufactures means that I would have to pay more. + While lounging around and and reading a long document in my lap, I have found that the Tablet Mode is surprisingly enjoyable for me. + Windows Hello is awesome! + The laptop is surprisingly cool and quiet (except while gaming or doing heavy number crunching of course). - Minor screen wobble, but not as bad as the old Spectre x360’s seemed to be. To me, the minor screen wobble is not an issue since it doesn't wobble while typing. - There is the faintest whine when your screen is not at 100% brightness. I could only hear it in a super quiet room - which is to say, I basically never hear it (there are no quiet rooms in our house). Even in a very quiet room, it took me days to notice it and figure out what it was. - The keyboard can ghost or bind while gaming (meaning it does not have 10-key rollover). This is nothing that an external keyboard can't fix (I only game with the laptop plugged in and on a desk). What you are getting for this price is amazing and I have been nothing short of impressed with this system. Excellent job HP! It would be neat to see if they can fit a 1050 GPU into the next version...but for the price (and good battery life and excellent thermals), I think they hit a good sweet-spot.

Bought this for my daughter who is in high school. Lightweight, beautiful screen, very classy looking. Initially bought the envy and had her try it out. She was pleased but I was not happy with the boot times of the envy. The spectre has a fast ssd that blows the envy away. Much more responsive. There are some widely known issues that I experienced with both the envy and the spectre when windows had a few updates that apparently had issues with nearly all hp laptops and made it take 7 minutes to be able to use the laptop from turn on. Perhaps removing some of the hp software with the geek squad might eliminate this. My daughters spectre was fixed very quickly when windows rolled out another update a few days later. I got the accidental damage in case my daughter had issues transporting it in her school bag. So far it has been fantastic and I would purchase again. If only they could fit a 1080ti graphics card in this puppy

This laptop is very nice, it has a dedicated video card, plenty of ram, and a solid state hard drive. This is a very responsive laptop with a very nice screen, and plenty of juice to back it up. It blazes through high-end games and is even pretty comparable to my desktop in many cases. This laptop does not have an optical drive, however, and there is only 1 USB 3.0 port so you would be sacrificing the use of your USB slot to attach an optical drive to burn or rip CDs and DVDs. you can buy an optional USB-C to usb3.0 converter to make use of the extra USB type C slot on the right, or you can get a multiport USB hub for either port if you want to use more USB devices, and the hard drive is rather small. (it is a solid state though so it's a good one, just small) Altogether I believe the good outweighs the bad, and I would definitely recommend this device to a friend and have.

I bought this to replace my 10+ year old Toshiba laptop. Love the new tech, beautiful large screen and excellent quality, super light compared to my old laptop and works so much quicker. This is basically a 2-in-1. Works like a tablet but it has the keyboard attached. It also has all the old connectivity ports that other machines don’t have available. Screen is very responsive, works just like a tablet. The keyboard is similar to that of a Mac, in my opinion. It types very nicely and I prefer keyboards that feel similar enough to pressing keys on a full keyboard for desktop computers. The only reason why I think the Mac is a tad better is because the Mac wakes from sleep mode far faster. Still, for the price... this is a great machine.

The HP Spectre x360 15.6in 2017 edition is one of the best portable 15 inch laptops on the market. If you review the specs everything is top of the line including a non-pentile 4k IPS display and a PCIe NVMe SSD. This thing flies and the 16GB of DDR4 RAM is the perfect balance for a thin and light. The touch screen and pen work as intended but are overshadowed by the build quality and speed this laptop has. If you want a solidly built portable laptop with a larger than 13 inch screen that is geared towards productivity while not needing the power of a HQ processor this would be my number one pick and suggestion to all. I enjoyed it so much I had to get one for my SO.

As someone who was looking for a little bit of everything in a laptop, I am 100% completely satisfied with my purchase. I wanted a touchscreen 4K 2-in-1 that could handle moderate video games, have a good battery life, large screen, and good looks. I don't think you could find a similar product from a competitor for the same price. While it does seem expensive, it is worth every penny. The SSD allows for instant boot-up, its as quiet as a mouse 99% of the time, and has plenty of power for moderate video gaming. I average about 7-8 hours of battery life on moderate use and have gotten as low as 4 hours from heavy video gaming on the brightest screen setting to as high as 12 hours using every battery saving technique I knew. To be completely fair, I havent ever seen any of the competing brand's computers outside of Best Buy, but if I had the opportunity to do this all again, I would absolutely buy this computer. I can not express how happy I am with it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for one computer to handle video games, studying, office work, binge watching netflix, and general use. The pen is an added bonus. I didn't care one way or the other about it, but it is nice. and the case that came with it is handy too.

My wife got a macbook and I got the HP Spectre. I thought I was getting the short end of the stick, but after a month or so, I can say that I ended up with the better productivity tool. First off the SSD is a must. The computer's performance it light years better with the drive. Second, the Spectre graphics card helps considerably when you are multitasking. Hardware-wise and performance, the HP is on par or better than the more expensive macbook. Our family has been living with Apple products for a decade or more and having set up both computers back to back, I can say that the macbook is not the easier of the two laptops. Getting it ready for business use was a pain for the macbook and a breeze with the Spectre, especially with cloud storage services. Very disappointed in the Macbook. My time with the Spectre has been very enjoyable. The facial recognition works very well. Battery life is nearly a full work-day which makes it fantastic on business trips. The keyboard is a little too sensitive with multiple characters coming up when I least expect it (but I am sure this is just an adjustment issues for me). My only gripe is the mouse track pad. It is not centered over the typing areas; specifically it should be centered between the G & H characters. As I type, it activates and selects things unintended. Considering the fact that I am a relative beginner with these new multi-touch track pads, I have yet to find a happy medium of usability. That aside, I deactivate it when I use my travel mouse (my work-around). I have just started to use the tablet mode. It is excellent on a plane and I do not need to shut down my laptop during takeoff. :-) All-in-all, this has been the best windows based laptop I have used in my career. It was worth the extra money.

Not only is it beautiful to look at, it's fast, the picture quality is amazing and the battery lasts but I feel the previous model was better. I was disappointed that the previous model comes with the pen and this one does not especially for this price. That being said, I love the way it feels to type on the keyboard and the sound is decent for a laptop.
