Review Title: Powerful, Sleek, and Built for Both Work and Play I’ve been using this laptop for a few weeks now, and it strikes the perfect balance between performance, design, and value. The Intel Core i5 processor delivers smooth multitasking I can run multiple Chrome tabs, editing software, and stream content without slowdowns. The dedicated graphics card paired with Xbox Game Pass support means gaming isn’t an afterthought it’s seamless. Titles like Forza Horizon and Halo run fluidly with sharp visuals and no stutter. The display deserves credit. Colors are vivid, brightness is strong enough for use in well-lit rooms, and the thin bezels make the screen feel larger than it is. The keyboard is responsive and comfortable even for longer typing sessions, while the touchpad tracks accurately without lag. Battery life is solid enough for a full day of productivity or several hours of gaming without constantly reaching for the charger. Build quality feels premium, slim yet sturdy, and the design stands out without being flashy. What makes this machine shine is versatility. It’s a gaming laptop that doubles as a reliable workstation. For students, professionals, or gamers, it offers a lot of value in one device. At this price point, it’s hard to beat the combination of performance, portability, and overall experience. Pros: • Fast Intel Core i5 processor • Excellent graphics for gaming and creative work • Vivid display with slim bezels • Comfortable keyboard and responsive touchpad • Great mix of performance and battery life Cons: • Fans can get noticeable under heavy gaming load • Limited storage out of the box (upgradeable if needed) Bottom Line: This laptop is more than capable of handling everyday tasks, creative projects, and serious gaming. It’s an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a versatile machine without overspending.

I got this laptop for my son, and he absolutely loves it. Here’s a quick breakdown of what works well, what could be better, and a few recommendations from our experience: PROS * Excellent build quality: Even though this laptop sits around the $500 range, it feels solid, well-built, and more premium than expected. * Tasteful design: It has a gaming-laptop look without being overly flashy. * Strong performance for the price: We’ve been running a number of AAA titles at 1080p, and it consistently delivers around 60 FPS in games like Halo Infinite, Minecraft, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Recommendation: Upgrade the RAM. Adding a 16GB stick (for a total of 24GB) makes a huge difference. With just the stock 8GB, the laptop felt sluggish at times, which held back both the CPU and GPU. After the upgrade, Windows and games ran significantly smoother. 144Hz display: Gameplay looks and feels very smooth thanks to the high refresh rate. CONS: * Limited stock RAM: 8GB is simply not enough for modern gaming. Fortunately, upgrading is easy and affordable (around $40). There are plenty of YouTube tutorials that walk you through it. Here’s the RAM we used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KN7463D?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 On the heavier side: This isn’t an ultra-portable laptop. It’s not unbearably heavy, but it’s not the kind of machine you’ll want to carry everywhere. Final Thoughts If you’re looking to play modern AAA games on a budget of around $500-$600, I don’t think you’ll find a better option than this. Just be sure to budget for the RAM upgrade—it’s well worth it.

could handle simple things pretty well, such as google or microsoft if you need a laptop for work. has backlights on keyboard but only white no rgb which is pretty annoying. not a powerful laptop personally i wouldnt classify it as a gaming laptop at all as even some small games cant handle well even on low settings. hinges arent great, gets dirty quickly, fans break easily. laptop guzzles battery if not left on charger, also made sort of cheaply. fans are crazy loud as well but laptop still gets really hot. looks nice and sleep, but kind of bulky and heavy. overall pretty good laptop just wouldn't recommend it if you want a gaming laptop.

The HP Victus is a great PC when paired with the right amount of RAM. I upgraded mine with a 32 GB DDR4 stick before even booting it up, and it handled it with no issues. Performance has been excellent. I usually have multiple browser tabs open along with an IDE, and I haven’t noticed any lag or delays. The build quality feels solid and doesn’t come across as a typical mid-range gaming laptop. It’s sturdy, the keyboard feels great, and I especially like the large number pad. I tested Forza Horizon 5 on max settings, and it ran flawlessly. It comes with 512 GB of storage, which is decent, but you can upgrade it if needed. The internal components are easy to access and swap out, though you should be careful when removing the back cover. I accidentally chipped mine while opening it. The backlit keyboard is a nice touch, though it doesn’t include RGB lighting. The screen size is good. I came from an 18-inch display, so I notice the difference, but it’s not a dealbreaker. Fan noise is also very acceptable. It’s noticeable under load, like when gaming, but it’s not overly loud or distracting. Battery life is impressive for a gaming laptop. I can get around 4 hours while gaming and even longer with lighter tasks. Overall, I recommend buying this laptop on sale rather than at full price, mainly because it only comes with 8 GB of RAM by default. With an upgrade, it becomes a much more capable machine. The 8-core CPU is solid and can handle running 3–4 virtual machines without any noticeable slowdown.

hi hi! not a bot :) anyway, this is my first gaming laptop/pc. i’ve grown up on playstation and xbox. ive played many games on steam with this laptop. some games include overcooked!2 (with a friend from Germany and im in North America! lag wasn’t bad and they were host!), overwatch, dead by daylight, stardew valley, minecraft, plateup!, and more that i sadly can’t think of right now. overwatch and dead by daylight run good to say the least, i just close everything that isn’t my game application and the necessities (background software), but if you stream, then you should look into the build more! my main use for it recently has been for retro gaming and emulators!!! it is an awesome laptop to use for playing retrogames. one thing i could say though, it cannot run fortnite. i’m not sure if i tweaked the settings right or not, but it stutters a lot. other than dead by daylight and overwatch, i don’t play any games like that anymore, as i’ve just been into the emulating recently. i would figure out if its the settings or the build itself! i’m not rlly sure because i just wanted something that would run dead by daylight and overwatch and i could say this is a 9/10 purchase because overall everything else, the battery drains haha.

Overall, this is a great laptop for casual to mid range use for both gaming and school work. The Intel i5 processor that's equipped in this laptop is the mid range one and not the highest end cores. Although memory is only 8GB, it does come with an empty socket inside. The RAM is DDR4 and not DDR5, which can hold a 3,200MHz. I personally bought a crucial 16GB ram DDR4 from Amazon, tho you can get it at best buy, both places sells them for around $30-$33 bucks. Putting in a 16GB DDR4 ram will put this around 24GB of ram to operate with, which is plenty for gaming and browsing. (Note, the Intel website says this motherboard, i5-12450H can be equipped with a max of 64GB of ram DDR4 3200 MT/s.) As for the GPU, this is last gens GPU but it still has 4GB of VRAM so you can still play most games on it. You just have to play around with the game settings in some instances. For storage, the inside of this laptop does come with 2 SSD slots, HOWEVER, the second SSD slot does not come with a slot to insert into the motherboard so you're basically left with 1 SSD slot to work with. Battery life of this laptop is better compared to other laptops around the same range. The battery lasted around 5 hours for me using 5 tabs of google chrome and with 1.5 hours of gaming time. The laptop fans are positioned on only one side of the laptop, which is the left side if you have the laptop screen opened. The laptop can run hot when under load but overall with normal use, the laptop is generally cool with the fans running not to noticeable. Screen brightness on this laptop is around 300nits, which can be hard to use if you're outside in bright sunlight but in a classroom or at home, adjusting the brightness should be useable.

I recently upgraded to the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop and couldn't be happier with my decision! This laptop strikes the perfect balance between gaming power, performance, and design, making it an excellent choice for both gamers and everyday users alike.. From its fast processing capabilities to its sleek aesthetic, this machine offers a well-rounded experience for gaming enthusiasts and professionals alike. Powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB of memory, the Victus handles a variety of tasks with ease. Whether I’m tackling productivity work or diving into more intensive gaming, it remains responsive and efficient. What truly sets it apart for gamers is the inclusion of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050, which brings cutting-edge graphics to the table. I’ve tested this with graphically demanding titles like Call of Duty: Warzone and Cyberpunk 2077, and the frame rates have been smooth and consistent, even on high settings. This level of performance is a game-changer for anyone who needs both power and visual fidelity. The 144Hz Full HD display further enhances the gaming experience. It offers an ultra-smooth, fluid visual experience that minimizes motion blur and provides a competitive edge during fast-paced gaming. Coupled with the vibrant color accuracy and sharpness, this screen is a standout feature for both entertainment and work-related tasks. With a 512GB SSD, loading times are virtually nonexistent. Games, applications, and files load incredibly quickly, and system performance is noticeably faster compared to traditional hard drives. This also contributes to the laptop’s overall responsiveness, which is something I appreciate when juggling multiple tasks. As for the design, the Performance Blue finish strikes a perfect balance between modern flair and professional elegance. It’s not over-the-top, but still makes a bold statement. The laptop is well-built, lightweight for a 15.6-inch model, and easy to carry for on-the-go use. In conclusion, the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is an exceptional choice for anyone looking for a versatile, high-performance device. Whether you're a gamer seeking seamless gameplay, a professional in need of a reliable workhorse, or someone who simply wants a stylish laptop that can do it all, this laptop ticks all the boxes. It’s a great blend of power, speed, and design that punches well above its weight. Highly recommended.

This computer has exceeded my expectations from a budget gaming laptop. I caught it on sale at Best buy for $499.00 and couldn't resist because I liked the idea of having a gaming laptop to travel with. Because I paid so little, I decided to not buy their extended warranty. Before turning the computer on for the first time I opened the bottom by removing the standard Phillips head screws, and carefully prying open the cover. This revealed a single 512GB SSD strip with no connector for a second NVME SSD. I happened to have a previously purchased WD Black SSD to replace the existing SSD. I purchased two Corsair 16GB memory modules to expand the memory from one 8GB module of PC3200 DDR4 RAM to 32GB of DDR4 at the same speed. I booted the computer with a USB Drive loaded with an ISO copy of Windows 11 which I created on my desktop PC. After loading Windows on the newly installed WD Black SSD, doing all the updates, and going to HP's support site to make sure I had all the drivers, I found myself with a computer with double the hard drive space and 4 times the RAM it came with. The computer runs cool, has no excess "bloat-ware," due to a clean install, and it performs dramatically better than the non-upgraded bargain laptop I brought home. I know this because I read reviews, and watched YouTube videos regarding the out of the box performance of this laptop. Every review on YouTube seems to agree that upgrading the RAM on this computer is a must. From this PC tech's perspective, I am compelled to agree. Besides, upgrading ram is cheap. I watched several reviews before making the purchase, and while you can game on this computer without upgrading it, you will have a better experience with this machine if you do. I caught the 32GB of RAM on sale at best buy for 29.99 per module. That 60.00 upgrade is more than worth it. It is critical you make sure to confirm the type of RAM your computer has before upgrading. Don't try putting DDR5 on a DDR4 logic board. The voltage is different. Just use the same DDR4, PC3200 RAM this computer comes with to insure compatibility. So far, I'm happy with the wireless card. The good news it is upgradable as well. If I become dissatisfied with the included network card, or it becomes out of date, I will replace it with an Intel "Killer" wireless card, or whatever the latest and greatest is and plug in the ethernet cable to the connector located on the right side of this laptop to download the new drivers and I'm golden. The point is, this laptop has more upgradability than many laptops costing four times more. It's arguably cheaper to upgrade this, and do the work yourself than to pay lots of money for a laptop that already has the upgrades. This is true if you are satisfied with the intel i5 CPU and the RTX3050 dedicated graphics card this computer comes with. The only game I play is World of Warcraft, so for my needs this is more than sufficient. The screen is decent quality, nothing to brag about, but gets the job done. There is also a handy HDMI port for plugging into any HDMI compatible external monitor, or even a TV. This laptop has plenty of USB ports, and one USB C port. There is also a full sized SD Card Slot. This laptop certainly has no shortages where connectivity is concerned. The screen on this computer is good for a laptop at this price point. I have no justifiable complaints about it. I don't use the laptop in bright sunlight, and the 144Hz display is presenting decent color accuracy, and is more than adequate for the one game (World of Warcraft) that I play on it. In World of Warcraft classic, I am getting over 200 FPS with the graphics turned up to 10, and vertical synch disabled. On retail WOW, The World Within, I do have to turn the graphics down to seven with vertical synch turned off to get consistently playable frame rates. The downside to this laptop would be the all plastic case construction, but at an on sale price point of $499.00 brand new, I have to expect that. The heat management on this laptop has been excellent. I'm getting temps in the 70's C even after hours of gaming. Battery life has been a pleasant surprise. I turned it on, set the timer on my stop watch, and to my delight got a time of 5:02:33 before the low battery warning came on the screen. This time was while web surfing, YouTube video watching, using Sling TV, and Disney +, as well as using google docs, and writing this review. I thought this was pretty reasonable for a gaming laptop. I have not measured battery life while gaming, but I don't recommend gaming on battery anyway. I have my power settings to balanced unplugged, and performance while plugged in. The keyboard is among the most comfortable keyboards I have every typed on. The backlighting is excellent, and the keys have a very nice tactile feel with what to me is just the right amount of travel. I am a touch typist and type very fast. This keyboard makes doing so a pleasure. I can comfortably recommend this laptop based on its ease of upgrading, performance for the dollar, good looks (looks of course are subjective,) as a great value if you can catch it at 499.00. If you need a gaming PC, or just a powerful laptop for the dollar, and you catch it on sale, go for it. I double this recommendation if you are comfortable doing the RAM and / or SSD upgrades yourself, or have someone to upgrade it for you. I will close with the title of this review. This computer is an amazing value, if you catch it on sale.

I love it! For what your paying for its amazing! a steal honestly its great for work, its fast, great for playing the sims, dbd, pre ram upgrade, but now that I've upgraded to 16gb, i got the kit from Crucial but it can go up to 32gb. Everything runs likes water. It doesn't get hot after a 10 hr gaming sesh. I do have a cooling pad tho ngl. The only caveat to this is that its gonna live on the charger if your using it for gaming fr, but itll last about 3-4 hours if your just doing work and school stuff. It was easy to set up, it was delivered fast and with care. just dont get m*afee as protection!!! windows defender is just fine. but if u want that extra fluff id say get Bitdefender.

I am very happy with this laptop. It runs very smoothly and I can play games such as league of legends or minecraft with no issue. The only thing I would like to mention is that I did add more ram to the device as 8gb would be considerably slow and it was a little difficult to remove the back of the laptop to insert the ram.

Quality item, runs every game 100+ fps, built in mic is crispy, charger is hotter than your mom, but in a good way, and the screen, the screen, when my atheist butt saw this refresh rate, I converted right away. Get this thing if u wanna game, nor like do blender idk, and no, I’m not a robot

This is great for older games that don’t require a lot of memory, since it only comes with 8gbs. You will struggle to play modern games on low settings. It overheats when downloading from steam for me. I got it open box for around $400 so it’s a steal, at the regular price, I would stay away and get something stronger.

Great budget laptop! I suggest upgrading the RAM to at least 32GB immediately after buying it, otherwise you will find yourself constantly freezing if you try gaming or multi-tasking with 8GB. Battery life is not the greatest even when doing light tasks. I'm down to 54% after two hours of light coding and streaming music from YouTube. Also the screen doesn't get as bright as I'd like it to but its still bright enough to do what you need to do on it. As far as gaming on it, I only tried Doom Eternal so far and I was getting around 150-200 FPS at 1080p on medium settings and DLSS on performance. Graphics looked pretty crisp, to me at least and game play felt smooth with the 144Hz refresh rate. For what it is, this is a great laptop.

I just got this laptop, and I’m really happy with it! It’s fast, lightweight, and perfect for what I need. The screen looks great, and the battery lasts a long time. Setup was super easy too. I’m really glad I decided to get this one — totally worth it!

After buying this laptop I upgraded 8gb to 32 gb. There’s no lagging in any way shape or form. I’m thinking about upgrading 552 ssd to 2 tb but I might hold off since I’m using a usb to handle that problem.

Been using this for a few months and has been great so far! I recommend upgrading the ram and storage but other than that it looks clean and has been working very well!

Very good build quality lot of storage and decent GPU and decent GPU however the RAM is bare minimum and hard to run most games with

Really is just a good starting gaming laptop to use it has just the right amount of speed and space for the games I want to play and enjoy as well as there is great sound quality as well.

I am extremely happy with this purchase. The laptop is fast, handles multitasking without any lag, and the graphics are crisp for gaming. It has a sleek design that doesn't look too "flashy," making it perfect for both work and play. The cooling system works great, and the setup was very easy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a powerful and reliable laptop!
