Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the Victus 15.6" laptop's strong performance and good graphics capabilities for its price point. Many appreciate the option to upgrade the RAM, but some users mention that the battery life could be improved and that the screen brightness may not be sufficient in all situations. Additional feedback points to the build quality as decent and the weight as manageable. While some find the fan noise noticeable, others report that the laptop does not overheat excessively.

I've had this laptop for a few months now and it's overall pretty solid. It performs pretty well and also manages to stay relatively cool under load. The build quality is good and it seems fairly well thought out, removing and cleaning the fans is simple and straightforward and cleaning only takes about 10m. It comes with an awful Mediatek network card, which can be replaced with a nice Intel one for about 25$ and it would be nice if it had more SSD slots. The display is also a little dim, but take this with a grain of salt because I always keep night mode enabled. It's powerful. It's designed pretty well. It's cheap. If that's what you need, would recommend.

You get what you pay for, and it is good for the price (although pretty discounted to about $560 when I purchased it during black Friday week). Overall it is a solid computer with good graphics, a nice keyboard (and the number keypad is a nice touch), and it if fast enough for normal tasks. I was told that this would be a great lower-budget computer for importing/editing/exporting large quantities of photos....it is acceptable. When exporting even 15 pictures from Lightroom, it lags hard and is often unable to even open File Explorer at the same time and everything greys out a little. I am aware that some internal things can be upgraded to support this better maybe, and also that this is intended to be a gaming computer....but I am not sure how good it would be at very high level games (Forza, Halo, etc.) if it can't open an empty folder and export 15 pictures at the same time. If I had paid full price (which I believe is around $900) I would give it a lower rating out of 5 stars.

The specs are just perfect for the price. The performance is enough for you to easily breeze through your daily tasks. The only thing i would upgrade is the ram and add an extra storage. The screen is also good but could jave been a bit more bright.

It’s nothing crazy, but it provides a very smooth experience when working with large files, and it does well enough for gaming. Was better than anything else at the same price point at the time of purchase.

I was excited to pick this up during a sale and scored the system for about $600. There have been some minor stability issues causing the system to freeze and crash, but I think they were related to the grapics card driver and I recently updated to the stable release and haven't seen any issues there. On thing I did do was pick up an extra 8 GB of ram as soon as I got the laptop, but that was only an extra $15. Kinda regretting not picking up 2x 16 GB sticks instead (would have been about $50 instead) but that might be an upgrade I do next year to keep the system feeling new. Overall the performance is exactly as I expected and seemed to be a really good value compared to similar builds.

I love this computer so much. I use it for everything - games, school work, and more. It knows how to cool itself down if it gets too hot for being on too long which I LOVE. I’ve had it for almost 2 years now and it’s still running like brand new! Highly recommend this gaming laptop! I would say the battery dies quickly for high powered apps such as games but for regular use such as school work or work in general the battery life is pretty good. I usually keep it on the charger 24/7 anyways.

I am a casual gamer, and upgrading to 32GB of RAM was easy. I ordered a new 2TB SSD that I plan on installing. So far, I haven't had any issues doing a little light video editing and playing Cities Skylines II. I would say it's definitely worth the money.

A pretty good gaming laptop (when purchased during it's largest sale, which typically brings it down to 549) bogged down only by its bad battery. If you turn on the battery saver it only boost to about 4 hours doing office work or browsing the web. Don't even think about doing any heavy gaming on battery either. Mine pretty much lives plugged in unless I need to whip it out to quickly search something or show something to someone. The usb-c is only useful for file transfering. You might have better luck then I did, but I just could not get it to display to a portable monitor or charge itself with my currently owned usb-c cables. I upgraded my ram to 32GB and my ssd to 2TB.

The Hp Victus is a great budget gaming that laptop that top-tier gaming specifications, all while looking like a sleek business laptop. It handles graphic-intensive games pretty well, while keeping cool by blowing hot air out through the vents on the bottom and the back. Keyboard feels great while typing notes at school, and is not super heavy either. The only complaints i would have would be regarding the trackpad, as there is a section on the bottom left of the laptop that when there is pressure/weight applied on it, the trackpad will be "pressed down" even if you are not directly touching the trackpad with your fingers. This seems to be a manufacture error regarding the sensitivity of the trackpad.

It's a little heavy (approx5.5lbs) but well worth it! Definitely not intended for light travel. I know I traded power instead of convenience, so I'm okay with that. This was a much needed upgrade, no more noisy fan from my 10+ year old laptop! Intended for work but excited for the gaming capabilities because it's so fast. Battery life doesn't quite last the 10.5 hours but I may not have had the right power save settings yet.

This is a very good laptop, beautiful display and keyboard, it's not very heavy so it's easy to carry from place to place, overall performance it's very good, the laptop starts in less than one minute, my only issue with this laptop it's in gaming performance, for a 3050 6gb I would expect a better performance in light games like league of legends and overwatch 2 but sometimes I get some fps drops I don't know why, other thing that I dislike it's that it only comes with 2 USB ports so I can only connect a mouse and keyboard but it doesn't leaves room for USB headphones, this can be easily fixed with a multi USB adapter but I would have loved to have in built at least 3 USB ports

This unit is exceptionally powerful for the price point. It runs newer games in 1080p with high frame rates flawlessly. The screen is beautiful. The keys have a nice feel to them. It does get warm and the fans start pumping out air when you're giving it a workout, but that is to be expected from a gaming PC in general. Very pleased with the unit. My only complaint (if I had to find one) is the low RAM from the factory and small hard drive. I popped in a larger RAM module and will probably put in a larger NVME in the future. But all in all, great value for the money.

Wow. Just a nice slick and sleek computer. My daughter uses it for roblox gaming and just that, runs extremely smooth, especially if you compare it to her older (less than 2 years) computer. I wasnt sure about the brand but so far its running great. Its a good looking computer. Battery life runs just as well as those extra expensive computers so Im glad i purchased this on Black Friday and saved about $500. Thr screen resolution is amazong and its nice and bright. Extremely vivid colors and the games look pretty awesome.

Good laptop if you want speed. Decent for entry level gaming. More than entry level actually. When on sale, it’s much better deal than getting non-gaming laptop since this one is more powerful. It has better video card even if you do not play games. Just need to add an 8gb memory for tot of 16gb. However, screen resolution is average. For reading words instead of gaming, I would not choose this laptop. I’d go with better resolution that you don’t see pixels. Easier on the eyes if you are doing excel, words, or reading frequently. For gaming, it’s good.

Strong specs, but glaring physical annoyances

The specs (except the RAM) are pretty strong, and it has performed well and even exceeded my expectations for a laptop. The feel of the keyboard is nice. The rubber feet allow for good ventilation. However, some extra QA is needed because some obvious design issues occur so frequently, it's impossible to ignore. Had I paid full price, it may have warranted a return. However, after a deep holiday discount, I'm willing to overlook these annoyances. Most notably, there is a slight flexibility to the base of the laptop that when used on an uneven surface (such as a lap), moderate flexure physically engages/clicks the touchpad. However, the click is only registered if there is any skin contact with the touchpad at that moment. This is a slight inconvenience, but happens daily. Secondly, the 3.5mm audio jack seems to be a bit off. It plugs in 98% fine, but the last 2% has a little pushback. It only takes a bit of pressure to complete the connection, but it is easily disturbed, and connected devices occasionally come unplugged. The third issue is annoying even for non-users. The fan is noisy when doing basic, non-intensive tasks. This whistle/buzz at low fan speeds can be irritating in an otherwise quiet room, especially in the proximity of others. I understand a loud fan when using CPU/GPU intensive applications, but I wouldn't expect it to be so noticeable when just browsing. Small things I'd prefer: an FN lock key over the omen or calculator keys. Similarly, a toggle light on the num lock key, like the caps lock. Variable brightness keyboard.
