A Great Phone for Those Who Want Freedom

I sold off my Samsung Galaxy S6 so I could buy this phone, even though I knew the S7 was going to be announced at a conference within a week or so, because I wanted to move to a phone that was not controlled by a carrier or manufacturer. I do not regret that at all, and have no envy of the S7 for anything except the camera. Especially with a recent update (March 2016), this thing is amazingly snappy, has great battery life, has no bloatware, and I have total control over the bootloader and rooting. Thee screen is excellent, although it doesn't get quite as bright as the S6 when set to max, such as for outdoor use on sunny days, but is still adequate. Indoors or overcast, though, and you won't notice the difference. Combine that with the best dual front-firing speakers on any phone, and it's great for media playback. To me, the single notable mark against it is the camera, and not because it's bad; it's fairly solid. But compared to the S6 and now S7, it's simply not as good. No OIS is noticeable at times, and the stock camera is barebones. Also, it cannot shoot 1080p video at 60FPS, which is unfortunate. But if you want a phone that gives you a lot of freedom, is a fantastic performer, with a larger, crisp screen, this is the one to get.

I purchased this phone out of desperation. I ruined my LGV10 and this was on sale. I assumed I wouldn't be crazy about it based on the lower price but I was so wrong. This phone works far better than my last several phones. The wifi, and Bluetooth is so much better than the LGV10, LGG3 and galaxy s5. It has less ram but operation is buttery smooth. Battery life is so much better than the LG there is no comparison. It uses USB type c which meant I needed adapters for my charging cables but it's nice not to worry about which way the cable plugs into the phone. With USB type c it can go in either way. No more flipping the cable end around in the dark. I paid $449 for this phone and it's the best phone I've had to date. I thought about the note 7 but the pricetag is just ridiculous. This is the value pick for sure but it's more than that. It really is a performer. And I already have Android 7.0!! What a nice bonus.

Fantastic! We are happy to hear that you made the jump and went with the 6P. We are very proud of this phone and believe that it has the ability to compete with a lot of flagship phones currently being offered. What we pride ourselves most in, is that while we have flagship features in the 6P, we don't have that flagship price tag attached to it. Thank you again for the excellent review, JTgadget. Did a lot of research before making the purchase. Coming from another exceptional phone...Nexus 6. Great build quality, very responsive OS, and battery life is great! Zero Bloatware!! Get this phone if you don't want to be frustrated with slower blogged down systems...camera is pretty great as well...pictures are sharp!! Very happy!!

I have used the 6P for about a month now and I am very impressed. This phone has done everything I have asked of it and hasn't hiccupped even once. Phone call quality: Good. Cell and WIFI reception: Good. Camera quality: Excellent. I am especially impressed with it's low light photo quality! Battery life: Decent to good. It lasts at least the whole day, sometimes two days, if I'm not using it excessively. Only once or twice have I needed to charge it before day's end. The good news is it charges very fast. I can get a full charge in less than an hour and a half. And a 15 minute charge gives it a good boost. I like the larger screen size. It took a little getting used to carrying and holding a larger phone, but it fits in my pocket ok and I've adjusted to handling it, so all in all it's a good thing. Btw the screen image is really good. Sharp and clear. Natural, yet vivid and pleasing color. No noticeable degradation with off angle viewing. You can set it manually to any brightness you want or select adaptive mode that adjusts to whatever light you're in. Bright sunshine is a bit of a challenge for adaptive mode, but you can manually adjust it brighter if you need to. The audio quality through the built-in speakers is good for a smartphone, but let's be real: if you want good sound you'll have to use other speakers. I'm happy to report that, unlike the newest iphone, the 6P still has a headphone jack that easily and inexpensively allows you to connect to headphones and other audio systems for quality listening. I'm not a gamer so you'll have to read other reviews for their input, but this phone has effortlessly handled music, videos, web surfing, tons of "Ok Google" queries, Android Auto, and oh yeah, phone calls effortlessly. It's a definite keeper for me, and I would recommend it to anyone. It's hard to explain, but this phone operates with a smoothness and effortlessness that makes me feel like it's capable of handling much more than I will ever throw at it. It is a well made, quality phone.

Outstanding battery life with a cool camera. Best NEXUS camera thus far. Clean plain simple ANDROID MARSHMALLOW 6.0.1 is the best GOOGLE/ANDROID OS. I only wish it had wireless charging like the previous NEXUS phones.

Best performance in every day tasks. Opening apps and recents in glorious 60fps is fantastic, and I have yet to experience that on any other phone. Battery is really good too. It's not the most comfortable to hold due to not having the same smooth edge the Nexus 6 did, but it's still a fantastic phone

    Switched to a Nexus Device

I switched from a Galaxy device to this Nexus 6P. I got tired of the other android phones that come with bloatware that I don't care for. I have had this phone a few weeks now and still enjoying it and haven't had any issues come up with it. The phone feels solid and the display is great. I'm just a casual phone user that doesn't update to a new phone every year so I wanted something to last me a while and knowing that Nexus devices get all the updates first from Google was one reason I went with this phone. Overall, I like this phone a lot and happy with my purchase.

I love my Nexus 6P. It's not loaded up with bloatware. It runs on pure Android software. There are things that Verizon does not support for this phone. But, there is a work around for every one. They refuse to support visual voicemail. Fine. There are other voicemail apps. There are a few more less annoying functions Verizon stubbornly refuses to support. But, overall, I am very satisfied with my choice. I love the "rapid charging" function. I don't worry about battery life because I can charge the phone so quickly. I rarely reach below 75% charge, but if I do, i only need about 20 minutes to get back to a full charge. Just buy this thing and quit worrying.

This phone is fast, free of bloatware, gets all the latest and greatest Google goodies before the rest of the world, takes great pictures, and is very fast. The ONLY downside is the voice quality. Voice quality is substantially better through a Bluetooth device. The microphone is awful. There are a number of Google features (project fi, map features, photos full-size uploads, etc) that ONLY work on Nexus devices. Price is extremely attractive. Have been using it for a month now and LOVE it!

Have been a fan of the Nexus line for a while now. Had the Nexus 5, the Nexus 6, and now the Nexus 6P. Have liked them all, though this is my favorite for sure. I was using the Galaxy Note 5, and while a great phone, I still prefer the stock Android experience. Put a black carbon dBrand skin on the device and a clear Spigen case, all is well. Have noticed no lag, and the battery last well through a day easy. Standby time with the new doze feature seems really great. It will only drop about 4% over night leaving it unplugged. While it sucks having to get new chargers, USB-C is really great. Faster charge, and you never plug it in wrong the first, or second try.

Overall, I rate this phone a 10 out of 10! The phone is very fast and runs very smoothly. The battery last about 12 hours with normal use and it charges pretty quickly. I bought this 64GB phone for $549, Best Buy lowered the price and refunded me the difference ($64.00 + tax). I think this is a very underrated phone.

The speakers... The flat panel all touch display.. Stock Android 6.0.. Fast, snappy, without overheating... Sleek lines, comfortable to hold and perfect fingerprint scanner placement all are why this is my favorite Android smartphone. I retired my Galaxy Note 5 for the Nexus 6, and the extra $50 for 64GB was a steal compared to Samsungs tiered pricing. Swyping on the on-screen keyboard is amazingly accurate, I didn't get this level of accuracy using the Spen on my older Note 5. The crowning moment, cementing my decision to stay with the Nexus was when I played my first song and video. The speakers on this beauty will best any smartphone currently on the market. The stereo sound is so loud, and clear that understand why Google didn't underscore this achievement by placing underpowered earbuds along with the Nexus package. Lastly, the added second USB C cable is a great offering from Google considering how new the technology still is. I could go on and on about this phone, but nothing I say can truly convey the awesome experience you'll have after firing up your own Nexus 6p.
