When I first started playing I was not enthused about the game and put it down after about 30 minutes. The controls did not seem user friendly and intuitive. I was expecting to be able to just pick up and play standard hack & slash with this game. I gave the game a second go and after about an hour into the game all the previous issues were gone. It has an enjoyable story through the game and the cutscenes are excellent. Throughout the game the dialogue from the two main characters interacting is entertaining. The graphics are very nice with detailed monsters to fight. The leveling system is standard fair. The controls become second nature and you can assign different spells and weapon enhancements to the D-pad as the game progresses. The fighting is not just in dark dungeons but in forests, and cities as well. It takes you through dungeons and then out the otherside of them so they are not just dead ends spiraling ever deeper to nothing. The boss fights are good, not terribly challenging for the casual gamer on normal mode. There are hidden areas to explore and items to collect. You can finish the game in about 10 - 15 hours but it has plenty of replayability with co-op. It also has split screen co-op. Overall the game is a great hack & slash that is much better than the average game of this sort. If you like to explore dungeons, it's waiting for you.

I bought this because I had a $20 coupon so the game only cost me $10, I thought what the heck. It turned out to be a very solid game. You can choose to play as a sword slashing human or an arrow firing elf. The game play changes a lot between the two, it is like 2 games in one. You can switch back and forth at certain points, plus both characters can throw magic as well and they can switch weapon type, but her sword play is pretty weak and he has a crossbow that is very slow to reload. Weapons can also be upgraded with magic, but your mana goes down fast so use it wisely. As the previous review said, the banter between E’lara and Karic is very good, they are great friends but very different. He likes to plan things, while she prefers to run in kill everything and move on. Graphics are standard for next gen, but if you are looking for Elder scrolls "like" you would be disappointed. The game straight up can be short, but if you find all the secret rooms they lead to a lot more game play, where you try to find 3 keys to open a main door. Each “key” mission can be up to an hour long by itself.
