The world is in peril again because a crazy Russian general wants to take on the world. The USA selects an everyday man to command their hunter killer sub and sends him to solve the problem. Very good effects, and some good acting.

I feel the Hunt for Red October and U-571 set the bar for Sub movies. This film is definitely not to that caliber, but the visuals and sound make up for some of what the screenplay and acting lack.

The movie is good in most aspects. Although I like Gary Oldman in most of his movies, he plays his part more like a scared Junior Officer than a seasoned and reasoning CJCS.

This has to be the most exciting, spell binding, riviting movie I have seen in years. The acting is absolutely superb. Gerald Butler is the only actor I can think of who could perform such a role and be so believable. The twists and turns in the story are so sneaky that you find your sitting there with you mouth open going "What". A top notch film everybody should see.

Excellent production values. Solid performances by the cast. Work was done to get the details right but was a bit unrealistic at times. The bonus features are nice, but could be greatly improved by providing more insight into how the movie was made rather than just audio commentary with brief video.

Not the best movie of gerald butler.. however, the performance were great, the story was pretty good but the science effects kill the movie

It wasn't so bad that I wanted to turn it off, but there was a whole LOT to make fun of throughout the movie. One thing that was funny was in the extras where they talked about wanting to make it as "real" as possible, trying to get all the painstaking details correct, but then they did things like, maneuvering the sub through a mine-filled canyon missing the walls and mines by mere inches, scraping the ocean floor TWICE, the ever-predictable water pipes bursting everywhere as they approach hull-crush depth. They tried to get some of the "Crimson Tide" vibe between the Caption and the Executive Officer by having the XO loudly contradict the Captain throughout their ENTIRE mission. I'm sorry but that is not getting the details about the navy correct. That XO would have been confined to quarters or placed under arrest for his constant mouthing off. That is only a couple brief examples of how unrealistic it was, to say nothing of the basic plot which is a mission to kidnap the Russian President during a coup, just to keep him safe. All that aside, I was entertained. Just don't go in thinking this is going to be one of the "great" submarine movies, because it's just not.

Nice entertainment if you enjoy these sort of movies. If you are looking for a more cerebral adventure, this one might not be for you.

This is a movie that is extremely by the books and would have benefited from taking some more risks. Fine performances though.

Good movie I’ve never seen this listed in any theater. However many of these made by the studio as I’m finding out go right to purchasing. I’m glad I bought it all in all a good movie. A lot of excitement pretty good effects. Some of the acting at times was a little cheesy. But the main actors did OK. Had a good ending.

This was a decent movie. I continue to be impressed with Commons acting skills. Most of this movie was predictable but enjoyable.

KooL submariner movie, Gerrard Butler does a Awesome job as playing a No Nonsense Captain of a submarine that is thrust into action because of a coup in Russia, Common plays his part Well as a General with the Joint Chief of Staff who chose Joe Glass (Butler) for the job, nice action and suspense

When we saw Hunter Killer in the theatres, we knew before it was over that we wanted to buy it to add to our collection. They don't make many movies like this anymore. Good classic military film with top rate actors and a great story. The blu ray dvd digital pack was definitely the best deal. Very happy with our purchase.

The story is not “real” or credible. Poor story. I rather rent this movie since i wont watch it again.

This was a great movie if you like the likes of Crimson Tide and The Hunt For Red October. I love those movies and this one tucks neatly in with them. Not along the same lines as the others but certainly entertaining and worthwhile killing a few hours.

I love movies about submarines. This one was decent. Good for an evening at home with popcorn.

A human submarine captain who has to be fierce to save his crew save the world despite others trying to do the opposite. He has to keep a level head to understand what is unfolding in world events in front of him and do the right thing to have a good outcome.
