The Hylands ear drops work decently for mild, non-medical related ear pain. They have provided temporary relief for my son that gets earaches after gym class and other sports. He normally just toughs it out and, in an evening, or so, his ears don’t bother him, but he commented that these drops did provide for some relief during the evening hours when his ears would normally bother him the most. He states that they provide a soothing effect when applied, and while the drops don't eliminate all his discomfort, they do help take the edge off.
I found the Hylands drops particularly nice after wearing soft, foam ear plugs for extended periods of time. Whether it be for yard work, or long afternoon rides on the motorcycle, those soft, foam ear plugs irritate my ears, especially if sweating. A drop or two of the Hylands takes the discomfort away.
Just note, that these are not a substitute for actual doctor prescribed drops if you are experience ear discomfort due to a true medical condition.

As an avid swimmer/lifeguard when I was younger, I spent a lot of time in the water and constantly got water in my ears. A few drops of isopropyl alcohol usually did the trick but was accompanied by a sting/burning sensation. Hydrogen Peroxide also worked but the bubbling sensation felt strange!
Now that I'm older, I still get water in my ears when swimming, and until now, relied on the previous methods to relieve it. Not anymore!
Hyland's Naturals Earache Drops are cool and soothing to the ear. A few drops in each ear canal, a 2 minute pause, and everything is clear once again. Two minutes seems like a long time when you're counting but hey, follow the instructions, right? Unfortunately, I have a difficult time getting all of the liquid out of my ears after 2 minutes. Sometimes, when I lower my head (upside down), I still feel "clogged". One time I actually had to resort to isopropyl alcohol to relieve the issue. This doesn't happen all of the time, and I'm confident it will improve the more times I use Hyland's.
There's no greasy/oily feeling making my ears feel "refreshed" after use.
I suffer from bad allergies and Tinnitus, and although these drops don't stop the ringing in my ears, they do seem to clear things up a bit so I can hear more clearly. They also relieve the itchy feeling I get from wearing a phone headset all day and would work well for itching caused by hearing aids.
As a homeopathic product, all of the ingredients are natural. There's no refrigeration necessary, and according to Hyland's website, they don't expire so you could conceivably keep them for a long time (probably not recommended though).
These are a great product, that I'll continue to use going into summer and throughout the rest of the year.

So I was able to grab a bottle of the Hyland's Natural Ear Drops for earache pain. The drops arrived just in time for a bothersome earache. Throughout my daily hustle and bustle of life, I tend to wear hearing aids and/or other earbud devices for extended periods of times to get through my day. Wearing hearing aids and other earbud devices at prolonged times tend to cause me to have mild to sometimes downright painful earaches (the pain is more in my right ear than my left ear). Sometimes, I experience just a very itchy ear which is typically not painful, just more of a nuisance than anything. Well since getting these eardrops, my ears are starting to feel better after using them for about a week now. The drops are easy to use, if you have used any type of eardrops before then it should be easy. Just tilt your head sideways and put about 3 or 4 drops down into your ear canal. It's recommended to keep your head tilted for a couple of minutes to ensure the liquid gets down in there good. For me, I like to hand and place a thumb behind my ear and take my finger and kinda massage in a pinching like motion to help the liquid get down in my ear good. I love the fact that these drops are also good for those that get swimmers ear and they're great for cold & flu allergies. They can be used in children ages 2 or older and can be used day or night. Also with its small size the bottle is easy to carry and be placed in a pocket, backpack, or purse so that they're with you at all times. Very good product that works.

I believe this product qualifies as holistic as there really is no real active ingredient. That said, the ear drops seem to work and soothe. If anything else they effectively loosen ear wax over night and make extraction pretty effortless. I believe that is the actual basis for the pain relief really. Just removing built-up ear wax can soothe an earache. As far as swimmer's ear goes I was not able to test that aspect as I haven't had swimmers ear in decades but general relief is achieved overnight from my experience with my allergies. I recommend giving these a shot if you have small children as these do not have any active ingredients and are all natural which is less likely to cause issues with irritation or worse, an allergic reaction just make sure that the child is at least 2 years old as the package states. I have also found that these eardrops help a lot with my headaches and they seem to clear up overnight at the longest. I will be taking these on my future trips to combat any headaches and earaches in the future.
