Amazing premium massage gun

I do quite a bit of bike riding and weightlifting every week—a couple hundred miles per week on the bike and weights every other day. My muscles get a lot of work, and I've read good things about how massage guns can help reduce muscle soreness. I’ve never owned one, so I figured it was time to find out. I ordered the Hyperice Hypervolt 3 after reading numerous positive reviews about the previous Hypervolt 2 version.
When I first unboxed it, I was a bit surprised at the size. It was larger than I had anticipated. My only other extremely limited experience with a massage gun is with my wife's; hers is quite a bit smaller and also quite a bit less expensive. Compared to hers, the Hypervolt 3 was clearly a much higher-quality product. It has a premium feel with its smooth, soft rubberized coating and its robust size and weight.
The packaging was excellent and included a carrying case, five head attachments (one of which is heated), and two charging cords, as well as a “Let’s Get Started” instruction booklet. It also includes three power supply adapters for use in other countries that have different electrical outlets than we use in the US.
To turn it on, you hold down the button for about two seconds, then adjust the speed by turning the dial on the back. It is surprisingly quiet—it just kind of hums—and it has five different speed settings. Upon first use, I found it to be extremely percussive, actually more than I anticipated, even on the lowest setting. I mean, this thing has some serious power.
My wife didn’t really care for it at first, I think because she’s used to her much less powerful and cheaper massage gun. But the more she and I used it, the more we were able to “dial in” the percussiveness based on how much force you apply. That is, the harder you press, the harder it impacts you. With a light touch, you get a nice, gentle massage. If you want to work deeper, press it in more and you can get as much impact as you want—maybe even too much. Once we learned that, it was like a lightbulb lit up and really improved how we used the device and how it works wonders on our muscles.
In addition to muscle soreness from all the activities I do, I also have a decades-old back injury that flares up from time to time. I read some other reviews of the Hypervolt 2 where users said they could not reach their own back or other hard-to-reach muscles. That has not been my experience with the Hypervolt 3. The length of the body and handle of the device made it easy for me to reach my own back as well as any other muscles on my body. I wasn’t sure it would, but it works fantastically on my back and has given me excellent relief from back soreness. For this alone, I would give the product five stars.
There is also a Hyperice app that you can use in conjunction with the device. The app holds a huge list of routines (I didn’t count them all, but probably 100 or so) that help you work whatever parts of your body you want. Routines such as “foot focus,” “lower body flush,” “ease Achilles pain,” and on and on. Once you select a routine, the app will search for your device to connect via Bluetooth, but it has never found my device and connected, so I just click on “continue without Bluetooth.” The app then tells you which head to attach and instructs you on where to start massaging, along with a timer. The app is quite useful, and the routines I’ve tried have been effective.
Overall, I think the Hypervolt 3 is an extremely effective massage gun that works wonders on my body. The more I use it, the more I love it. It’s professional-grade, high-quality, and works wonders on my sore muscles and back. Definitely a five-star product.

Good percussion massager

Disclaimer: At the time of this writing the device is not recognized in the Hyperice app, so I'm unable to speak to the capabilities offered by the app.
I've had a few percussion massagers over the years and this one gives quite a premium feel over some that I've had. It has a mix of massager heads, significant enough weight that you arent feeling like you have to press it into yourself, charges quickly and lasts a long time.
Packaging:
To start, it's packaged very well, the massager and heads are in a case packaged in a box that has a quality and high end feel. There's minimal literature included as well.
Use:
It's very straightforward, turn it on, the bluetooth light blinks and you turn the dial on the back for varying degrees of speed. There only seems to be 5 levels which is different than other devices I've had which had up to 100 levels of speed. I do not know if this is different if the app is included, that said it does a good job with the settings it has.
Overall:
Not too much to discuss, it's a good percussion massager, I'm sure the functionality with the app will increase that and be able to direct you to more specific types of pressure/pain relief based on what I'm able to see in the app. But if you're in the market for a percussion massager, it's definitely a quality device.

The Hypervolt 3 is one of the nicest massage devices out there. Of all the massage devices I've tried in the past, the Hypervolt 3 stands out for its effectiveness and build quality. It relieves muscle tension and supports overall well-being.
Design and Built Quality
There’s a carrying case included to store the device and the attachments, which is very nice. Both the device and the attachments are made from high quality materials, and their build quality is vastly superior compared to a much less expensive alternative.
Charging the device requires a specific charger so I just wish that it supports USB-C charging device. The heating attachment, however, supports USB-C charging. It’s not a problem because the charger, the device and all of the attachments fit into the carrying case.
Device Performance
The product includes several attachments, which are very useful. My favorite is the attachment that works specifically for the back. The before and after sensation is just great. The device quickly relieves back tightness but requires another person to operate it effectively.
The Hypervolt 3 is a very powerful massage device with multiple level of power adjustments. The minimum setting (level 1) meets my needs, and I can gradually increase the power up to level 3 while remaining comfortable.
The heating attachment is also effective in transmitting heat to the muscle. I’m still playing around with all the attachments as they have their specific uses.
Conclusion
This is a premium product which gives premium results. For my use case, it’s effective for relieving back tightness. The attachments are useful and serves specific purposes.
Pros:
Premium built-quality
Comes with a carrying case
Useful attachments
Effective and powerful performance
Cons:
Requires a dedicated charger; does not support USB-C.

After spending time with the Hyperice Hypervolt 3, it is easy to see why this brand has such a strong reputation. The build quality feels great with a solid body that feels durable. The soft touch plastic is nice too. The design is comfortable and easy to hold. The grip is natural and balanced. Whether using it on yourself or on someone else, it’s comfortable enough to use without inducing more fatigue. Great for sore muscles and a post workout routine.
There are plenty of different attachments to use and there easy to swap on and off. Each head has a purpose, from general muscle relief to more targeted deep tissue work. The heated head attachment is a cool and adds a decent level of warmth that really helps muscles relax. Hyperice also includes a slick carrying case that keeps everything organized and makes it easy to travel with.
My only complaint is that the power LED is super bright. I wish there was an option to disable it or at least dim it, especially for use in darker rooms. Overall, the Hypervolt 3 feels like a premium recovery tool that stands out. I’m a fan of percussive massage guns and this one is my new favorite.

TLDR: Versatile & worth a look whether you are a true athlete or not.
PROS
Rechargeable
Multiple heads for nearly any spot
Multiple Power / Intensity Levels
CONS
Only 1 heated head
Very aggressive even on Low
USE
I had never thought about ever using a percussion massager. But after a trip to my chiropractor, I was hooked. After many years of chiropractor visits, the percussion massagers are a game-changer. My chiropractor uses one prior to any adjustments and I admit that the way they relax muscles really helps in keeping adjustments in place.
Now that I have my own percussion massager, I feel like I've stumbled on a secret. Why didn't I get one of these sooner? I thought only athletes or endurance runners used them. Who would have ever thought I would get so much use out of one. I'm far from an athlete, though I do try and stay in decent shape.
One thing I can speak to is that after a long Saturday of riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, the Hyperice is a must have for me. As I get older, there are more and more recovery days between rides. I find that the Hyperice works great after a long weekend of beating the body up with dirt bikes. A lot of Sundays and Mondays were spent with sore muscles over the years. Do I still have sore muscles? Yes. But the Hyperice does a fantastic job of relieving some of the soreness and stiffness that often comes after. The Hyperice makes those Sundays and Mondays much more bearable ... or maybe if I didn't crash so often ...
The Hypervolt 3 comes with several interchangeable heads. Each made for a specific purpose. From thighs to calfs, to triceps or pecs, there is an attachment to get what you need. I'm a big fan of the heated head. It is especially effective on sore shoulder blades after a weekend of fun.
CONS
The only real negative I can find with the Hyperice is the aggressiveness of the percussion. There are times when I just want to use the Hyperice to help eliminate some of the fatigue of the stresses of life. It is nearly impossible to use on your neck to help work out a kink and/or stress headache. Life has been so stressful lately that I would love to be able to just use the Hyperice for a gentle massage on the back of the neck without feeling like it was trying to beat my eyeballs out.
VERDICT
Aside from the one minor quibble, there isn't anything not to like about the Hyperice Hypervolt. It makes workouts and sports more enjoyable knowing that you have some way to help alleviate the repercussions of your activities. I find myself much more willing to push myself knowing that I can use it to speed recovery.

Fixed my shoulder pain

Let me start out by saying I have been having a shoulder issue for years now, I have done everything from rest, chiropractor and even taking meds and nothing has helped up until now. The HyperVolt 3 has done what nothing else has been able to do and that is remove my shoulder pain so I can workout and I am able to get a consistent good night sleep.
The included 5 massage heads are great, instead of using a one size fits approach you get different attachments for those difficult areas. The two massage heads that set the HyperVolt 3 apart from other massagers is the heated attachment and cushion head. The cushion head is excellent for going over sensitive areas, especially where you are around a lot of bone/cartilage, this does wonders for the neck and shoulder blade area. The cushion head is what made the difference in my shoulder pain as it allows just enough pressure to help reduce pain/swelling without aggravation. The heated massage head is simply amazing, applying heat to achy muscles not only feels great but helps quicken recovery.
I have used other massage guns before and they either feel too strong on the lowest settings or not strong enough on the highest settings, the HyperVolt 3 in a perfect median. The low setting is gentle enough for those that don’t like deep tissue massages, and the high setting is enough for even the toughest knots. Adjusting the speeds is simple with the turn of the knob. One important thing that cannot be overlooked with the HyperVolt 3 is when you accidentally go over bone you don’t get that excessive jump from the massager like with all other massagers.
Where the HyperVolt falls a bit short is the app department, and its not because of the content in the app itself. The app is great and has everything, but small details were missed. For example the guided videos have people using the massage heads while wearing black outfits, this makes it hard to see where the massager is being used. Also there is some tweaking that needs to be done as app is slow to respond, when changing orientation of your phone or ending a guided massage early, this happens on iOS and Android.
HyperVolt 3 is one of if not the best massager out there because it simply works. I was able to move after going all out on leg day and it helped me get rid of a dreaded shoulder problem. The battery life is amazing, currently I have been using it without recharging for over 3 weeks, and it has an excellent feel. I have no complaints about the product itself, its well-built and works as intended. There is some polishing that is needed on the app but besides that I would highly recommend it.

Like having a therapist at home

Over the years, in my experience, Hyperice has consistently pushed the boundaries, continuously refining and enhancing their products with each new version. Starting with their original Hypervolt, they have steadily integrated new features and improvements, always with the goal of adding value and improving the user experience. This commitment to their clients has kept their machines at the forefront of the market, cementing their position as leaders in the sector.
It’s exciting to see how Hyperice has built upon their foundation (I still own the original Hypervolt), never resting on their laurels. Their ongoing dedication to technological advancement means that each iteration brings something new and valuable for anyone searching for effective muscle care solutions. The latest Hypervolt 3 is a testament to that, boasting a lighter design, increased battery autonomy, and the same intuitive user experience. The range of strengths, percussion heads, and heat levels ensures a tailored massage for every body part in need.
I am not a a doctor but speaking from personal experience, as an occasional runner, I rely on percussion technology to help my legs recover after a tough session. As someone who frequents the gym in my 50s, I regularly deal with aching muscles that require both preparation and recovery. And as an office worker, spending hours sitting at a desk, I know firsthand how my core and back muscles can suffer. The Hypervolt has become an essential tool for me, allowing me to manage muscle soreness and avoid constant reliance on a physiotherapist. It’s this versatility that makes me believe a Hypervolt is a must-have in every household.
The Hypervolt 3 package is thoughtfully designed, including solutions for all body parts. With your purchase, you receive five different heads, each tailored to specific areas, along with the massage gun and a full charger. I really appreciate the sturdy carrying case, which securely holds all components for travel. For international travelers like myself, the kit also includes electric plugs suitable for various countries. One important element is that one of the heads, after charging, delivers heat with the massage, which is especially good for stimulating areas with pain or muscle contractions.
The massage gun itself features a mid-size handle (smaller than the bulky Hypervolt 1) that allows easy positioning for self-massage. The powerful motor remains consistent with previous models and is adjustable across six speeds to suit your needs. The on/off button and the intensity regulator, a convenient rotary knob, are both located at the back of the gun, making it easy to adapt the settings mid-session. Power and percussion speed are among the areas where the Hypervolt 3 excels. When I am aiming for a very deep massage that can help with blood circulation and lactic acid dissolution, having a gun that can penetrate deeply with a steady speed is key, and here this is unbeatable. Finally, one of the standout features of the Hypervolt 3 is its quiet operation. Despite its power, the device runs silently, creating a pleasant and unobtrusive experience.
The final note is related to connectivity with the app. In fact, the number of massage and recovery session videos available in the app is like having your own therapist included. It is as simple as automatic detection of your activity dynamics (after connecting the Hyperice app to your sports app). By connecting the device to the app via Bluetooth, you just follow the instructions in the videos available. It’s as simple as trusting your device to propose massages to help recover the muscles the app detected based on the information shared by your sports app. All of this is based on the recorded activity, the available device (the Hypervolt 3), and the recommended resources.
Overall, Hyperice’s continual improvements and attention to detail make the Hypervolt 3 a standout product for anyone seeking dependable and effective muscle recovery.

Relief for Sciatica

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have sciatica that I routinely manage and an 11 month old that keeps me going non-stop that I juggle along with a desk job which leaves my neck and shoulders (and more) so tight from everything that comes with that. Sometimes it builds up, spreads up to my head and occasionally leads to bad headaches. I’m often massaging my own back, shoulders and neck along with doing the recommended stretches to alleviate that tension and pain best I can. I’m at a point where I needed something more. People seem to rave about percussion guns and I really liked the look of the Hyperice Hypervolt.
I wanted something compact with multiple head options depending on the situation and the Hypervolt 3 does just that. It is heavier than it looks but I like that I can hold it various ways comfortably, including reverse grip and from the barrel itself. It really helps when reaching for certain areas and allows me to hold it in place longer without getting tired. What also really helps with this is the smooth and soft silicone that covers the entire device. It’s a good thing because this thing puts out some power. I rarely felt the need to go beyond the 2nd speed but I do appreciate having 5 speeds. Each increase is a steady amount and one always fit the use, never feeling like too much.
Every time I was feeling something with my sciatica, I used this for a couple of minutes and I quickly felt improvement. Even if there was a little soreness, the area felt way more relaxed and manageable. Like I mentioned before, lately my neck and shoulders are often tight. After one long session all around the area with the Hypervolt 3, I felt so much more relaxed for days. After targeting those spots, I experimented with the range of different heads so I moved on to other areas like the rest of my thighs and calves and couldn’t believe how much tension I had just built up everywhere, even the bottoms of my feet! I really felt great all around.
My favorite thing is all the different attachments. I was particularly excited for the cushion one because I hurt my knee recently and it has been getting more bothersome. It works great for boney areas like this, providing enough cushion to not hurt but also not too much where it doesn’t work. I was also really impressed with the heated attachment. It has its own battery and charges separately which to me is a really smart design. This of course helps conserve the battery of the device itself and even allows it to be used independently as a heat compress. It heats up quickly and gets surprisingly hot. The 1st of the 3 settings felt enough for me. It does auto turn off after a short while though, but I’m sure this is a safety feature and a good one at that. The case is really nice, too. It holds everything securely including the chargers and manuals. The battery is still going from the first full charge so seems like it has great battery life as well.
The app has a ton of routines with video you can follow along with that targets specific areas. You can pair your device via Bluetooth to track your stats with this feature or use it without which I appreciate the option. I can see it being helpful for some like athletes and those who spend a lot of time at the gym but my needs are on a as needed basis. I don't see myself using it much. There are also some short educational videos from professionals I did find interesting though. Not sure how often they add more, though.
In just a short amount of time, the Hypervolt 3 has become my routine go-to the minute I start to feel any tension or discomfort. It’s convenient to quickly grab out of the case and use for a couple of minutes which sometimes is all I have. I’m actually surprised just how much it has become an invaluable asset for me.

Paradise Awaits!

I am writing this review for the Hyperice Hypervolt 3.
This is the first percussion massage unit I have ever used, so I honestly had no idea what to expect.
I was in for a huge surprise.
The Hypervolt 3 arrived and was sitting on my doorstep when I got home. When I reached down to pick it up, I was genuinely shocked by how much it weighed — so much so that for a second I thought the wrong item must have been shipped. Like I said, I had never used a percussion device before, and I was expecting the typical lightweight feel of a vibration massager.
Once I opened the package, I was relieved to see it was the correct item… but I was still puzzled by how heavy it felt.
The Hypervolt 3 comes enclosed in a very nice semi-hard zippered case. The case itself is obviously well-made and durable. As I opened it, I was immediately intrigued by the shape and appearance of the Hypervolt. I don’t know why, but the first thing that came to mind was Thor’s Hammer. When I picked it up, it almost felt like Thor’s Hammer too — and suddenly I understood why the package had felt so heavy.
I knew immediately this was no casual piece of equipment.
Inside the case you’ll find the Hypervolt itself, five attachments, product literature, a charger (with multiple international plug-in adapters), and the seemingly mandatory USB cable.
To back up a bit, the reason I was interested in Hyperice products in the first place isn’t because I’m a professional athlete — far from it. I do work out several days a week, but my real reason is much simpler: I stand almost all day at work. There’s very little sit-down time, and there are days when standing on concrete for eight hours really takes its toll. Most days my feet and legs feel it.
I had heard through typical shop talk that Hyperice made a massager that truly helped address soreness, so I decided to give it a try.
In all honesty, the Hypervolt 3 didn’t include much information on what each attachment was designed for, or exactly how to use them. So off to the web I went. I watched several videos (and there are some great ones out there that show exactly what each attachment is for and how to use them) and read through a few forums. By the time the unit was fully charged, I felt ready to go.
However…
There are different attachments for specific purposes and areas of the body, and I found out quickly that those design differences exist for a reason. I chose one of the harder attachments to start with. Switching attachments is super easy — you just pull one off and push the other one in.
I began testing it out on different areas of my body, and very quickly I experienced what I call “the bounce.” Using the harder rounded attachment too close to joints causes the massager to bounce. It’s not painful and it’s not a defect — it’s just one of the nuances of a percussion massager.
Once I learned that, things got a lot better.
The Hypervolt 3 also includes a heated attachment, and as far as I’m concerned, this is the crown jewel. Following the directions, I turned on the heat, waited a couple of minutes, and started using it. I tried it on my feet at first (not really what it’s designed for), so I moved to my shoulders… and then down to the IT band.
Paradise is the perfect word for what followed.
The heat, coupled with the percussion therapy, worked wonders. I could literally feel the tension and stress melting away. When I finished, I felt like a new man — and the effects didn’t fade away five minutes later either. For the rest of the day, life was just… better.
Since then, I’ve been using all of the attachments regularly. I will say the attachments designed for the back and neck often require a helping hand, so expect a bit of a learning curve if your partner is the one using it on you.
I had no idea the Hypervolt 3 could make such an impact on my daily wellness, but it has been a complete game changer. It has eliminated built-up stress in my legs and feet, and with the heated attachment, deep muscle massage has now become a staple in my weekly routine.
I can’t get enough of it.

Improvement on an essential workout companion

Discovering the Hypervolt myofascial release tool was something of a gamechanger for me. As someone who enjoys biking and hiking but also has frequent issues with sciatica and general muscle soreness, its ability to relax muscle tightness and reduce recovery times made it significantly easier for me to enjoy the aftermath of being active. That said it was also pretty crude in a lot of ways. It was a bit too bulky to travel well, ergonomics weren't great, and most of the attachments didn't see much use. I'm pleased to report that the Hypervolt 3 improves on the original in almost every way.
By far the biggest improvement I noticed was how easy the new design is to hold. The angled handle makes it significantly easier to maneuver than the old approach of just holding on to the battery, which is particularly useful if like me you're frequently using it to massage your lower back. The controls are also a lot more intuitive and offer greater fine control, using a rotating ring in the rear to let you dial in the exact speed and pressure you need for your massage.
The attachments are also an improvement, though for the most part I'd consider them more of a refinement on their previous offerings. The new horns are a bit wider and more curved, making them a lot easier to target specific spots than the old design, and the wedge is great for running along the edges of my shoulders. That said apart from one bumper they do still lack any give, which can be quite intense and certainly isn't to everyone's taste. There's also a somewhat novel addition in the form of a new heated attachment, which runs on its own internal battery. While this is a good idea I'll admit I haven't found myself using it very much, so I'm not sure how essential it is.
The last feature I'd like to talk about is perhaps one of the biggest quality of life improvements: the Hypervolt 3 comes with a complete carrying case that holds the massager, its charger, and all its accessories. It's still a bit bulky compared to some options, but I had no issue throwing it in my bike bag and using it when taking stops on longer trips.

I personally love this thing, and the hypervolt 3 has quickly become a part of my daily routine to alleviate some minor (but persistent) aches and pains, but I wouldn't grab it just yet. Why? Let's look at it.
In the box you get the Hypervolt 3, tucked away in a very nice soft touch carrying case which has all the goodies. You get 5 massage heads, including a really nice heated one with varying levels of heat, a barrel plug charging cable, and the world's shortest usb-c to a cable.
Firmly press whichever head into the gun you like, press the button on the back, and you're good to go. The back of the massager has a built in dial to control the frequency of the vibrations. Feels pretty robust, but time will tell if it holds up, as is it offers you very granular control to literally dial in the intensity you want. It's perfect. I use it for maybe 45 minutes a day, a bit in the morning and again at night. I only have to charge it once a week or so every week. So let's talk about the app ...
It's great. Turn on the hypervolt, open the app, tap your massage gun, select the routine you want to run, and it will automatically pair and begin the routine. It shows you a little timer and plays a video to show you exactly how to use the device properly, even selecting the preferred intensity (which you can change of course). It's great. Just works. I like it
I have no real complaints about the hypervolt 3. I've been using every day to manage my plantar fasciitis and it's amazing. If you have chronic pain, or you want to improve your post-workout recovery, this thing is excellent. Pay attention to the model though, because they don't all come with the same massage heads. Great product

The Hyperice Hypervolt 3 is the massager you should be on the lookout for. As someone who has experienced recurring back, shoulder, and neck pain over the years, I can honestly say this device feels like a bit of a miracle.
This massager is very easy to use. Simply hold down the power button and adjust the speed and intensity using the dial-style controls. The device is much easier to control than other products I’ve tested in the past.
The Hypervolt 3 includes multiple detachable heads, allowing you to choose the right attachment depending on the area you’re working on. I personally like to focus on my shoulders, hamstrings, and calves. Each attachment is designed for different situations. There’s a basic soft head, a firmer rubberized one, and two attachments specifically designed to reach those tight knots between and around your shoulder blades. The fifth attachment is a USB-chargeable heated head.
The heated attachment has three heat settings and is controlled independently from the main unit. It is by far my favorite. It heats up quickly and truly enhances the overall experience.
The app is somewhat useful as well. You can pair the device via Bluetooth and access different timed massage routines. While it’s not a must-have feature, it’s nice to be able to program timers for different massage sessions.
In my opinion, this is the best massager available right now in what is becoming a crowded market.

I really like this massager and I am happy I got to use it. I wish it charged by USB-C, but I don’t think it can so I’ll let it slide. One surprise that I absolutely love is that it comes with a heated massage tip. You do have to charge this tip via USB-C separately, but it’s well worth it. I am getting amazing results from using this just in two days. It’s just also extra nice to have a custom fit case included that not only holds the device but all of its accessories and charger! The device itself is rubberized and very intuitive to use and the build quality is well above average Im sure that is it will last you through years of service. In fact, you’ll probably only be limited by the battery. From the moment you picked this massager up, it exudes a professional equipment vibe and definitely not a toy like some other units. This is clearly a tool o assist in muscle recovery or physical therapy. The heated attachment will really speed up your recovery as well so if you’re looking for that perfect after workout tool, then I think you found it.

The Hypervolt 3 is a deep tissue percussion massager. The attachments offer many types of massages for whatever you need. The heated attachment head offers multiple heat settings for your comfort. I personally found that the first setting for a massage is all I need. When I dialed it up to 5, it was way to intense, almost uncomfortable, especially if I hit bone. For me I found it easy to use with my shirt on. Not on bare skin. When you are done, you really know you have had an awesome recovery massage. It almost reminded me of the old shiatsu machines that were borderline torture devices. This device would be best for those who frequent gyms or runners, even those whose stand all day. Just set it to the minimum and let er rip. The battery is good for about 3 hours or 75 minutes if you use the included heat adapter. The case it comes in is great for traveling. It is light and compact and can be put in a carry on. I would recommend this to friends who need more than just a gentile massage, this one will is way better.
