An Almost Perfect Gaming Headset

I’ve been using the new HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset across multiple platforms, and overall it’s been a unique experience.
The first thing that stood out to me was just how comfortable these headphones are. The earcups have deep, soft plush padding and the headband distributes weight evenly and is adjustable, which makes long gaming sessions feel effortless. The fit is snug without creating too much pressure on my head, and I really like that the earcups can swivel flat, so I can rest them comfortably on my chest when I have the headset around my neck. The headband cushion is a faux leather material that is soft and feels like it won’t crack over time. The head band itself is a combination of sturdy plastic and reinforced with some sort of metal to keep its integrity on the top for a nice clean look. Design wise, HyperX did a great job balancing a clean, modern look with practical functionality without looking too “gamery”. The removable microphone is a nice touch, especially when I’m just using the headset for casual listening or watching videos. The I/O and buttons on the Cloud Alpha 2 comes with a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5 mm headphone jack that can be plugged into the control hub for lossless audio, Power/ Bluetooth pairing button, mute button, volume wheel and a Multimedia button for pausing playing music or videos.
The included audio control hub is another standout feature. It has a physical volume knob and six customizable buttons, complete with RGB lighting that can be tailored to your setup. The default buttons on the control hub are, Mic gain, game/chat mix, Mic monitoring, Audio Mute, EQ preset, and Media control. All 6 of these buttons can be changed if you want from these default features.
The hub feels solid and gives quick access to key functions without having to dig through software. That being said, if you don't enable the Ngenuity app to launch when starting your PC in the app’s settings, it will default to that awful spinning Rainbow RGB on the knob until you launch the Ngenuity app.
In terms of sound, these headphones genuinely do sound amazing. The audio feels full, powerful, and very detailed. HyperX’s multi-layer composite 53mm drivers do a great job of delivering clean highs, rich mids, and tight lows without distortion, even at higher volumes. Their spatial audio processing adds another layer of immersion, giving you accurate positional sound so you can clearly tell where footsteps, gunshots, or ambient effects are coming from in game, while also being compatible with Dolby Atmos for that 3D sound immersion. It makes everything feel more precise and competitive, especially in FPS titles like COD, Apex and BF6 where audio direction matters.
One of my favorite features is the dual wireless functionality. I love being able to use the 2.4GHz wireless connection for gaming while simultaneously having Bluetooth active. I’ve taken phone calls and listened to podcasts on my phone while playing with game audio and voice chat at the same time, and it works seamlessly. That versatility makes this headset incredibly useful if you have multiple gaming devices. I’ve used it with my Desktop PC, Windows laptop, PS5, Switch 2, MacBook, and my phone, and switching between platforms has been smooth and reliable. Also the battery life on these are some of the best I’ve seen for wireless headset with up to 250 hours in 2.4GHz mode or up to 125 hours with simultaneous connection, this alone might be a reason for getting these headphones.
The HyperX NGENUITY software adds a lot of customization options. Where you're able to tweak EQ profiles, adjust audio levels, turn on Spatial sound and adjust it top your preferred style and also customizing the RGB lighting effects to match my setup. That said, it’s currently in beta, so there are some little issues that can pop up from time to time. And you will be prompted immediately that you need to download and apply a firmware update to use the app. One important reminder is that don't forget to extract the firmware file from the .ZIP file before trying to install it, or the update won’t work correctly (I did this accidentally when I was launching the update without first extracting the .zip file and it kept failing).
There are a couple of downsides that are worth mentioning. The biggest one for me is the lack of active noise cancellation (ANC). The headset does a decent job at passive noise isolation, but for a higher end headset, I really wish ANC was included. Another drawback is that the control hub does not integrate with the Windows system volume UI, meaning you have to manage volume using either the headset wheel or the Control hub’s physical knob. For instance I have a volume knob on my keyboard and if I try to lower the volume with that knob the audio will not change. This feels like a software limitation and could potentially be fixed later, since the software is still in beta.
Pros:
Amazing battery life
Excellent sound quality with detailed, low-distortion audio
Immersive spatial audio with accurate positional cues
Very comfortable for long sessions
Swiveling earcups lay flat on the chest when worn around the neck
Dual wireless (2.4GHz + Bluetooth) works smoothly at the same time
Wide device compatibility across PC, consoles, Mac, and mobile
Removable microphone
Strong EQ and lighting customization through software
Cons:
No active noise cancellation (ANC)
Software is still in beta for a released product
Firmware update process makes you leave the app to download a .Zip file
No integration with Windows volume UI
No on board memory for the control hub the Ngenuity app has to be open
The control hub wheel defaults to awful spinning rainbow RGB.
Overall, I really like the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headset and I want to love it more, but there are a few things holding it back from being truly perfect. The sound quality, comfort, and dual wireless functionality are all excellent, and it’s one of the most versatile headsets I’ve used. That said, the lack of ANC and the fact that the software is still in beta for a fully released product isn’t ideal. I’m hopeful that firmware and software updates will improve the experience over time, because with a few refinements, this headset could easily be one of the best in its class. All that being said, if you are someone that has multiple computers and multiple gaming consoles and you want something that is compatible with all those then I would go with this headset.

The Hardware Outshines Its Software

The HyperX Could Alpha 2 Wireless headset with base station is fantastic hardware that is kind of shadowed by its software integration. Maybe for console users, this won’t be an issue because NGENUITY software won’t have to be installed, but for us PC users, it will be apparent once you get moving along with this headset.
From a hardware perspective, the Alpha 2 is fantastic. It’s built like a tank with a lot of metal parts, including the headband. Of course the flipside of that is the added weight, but it was still within my tolerances for how heavy a headset should be. The ultra plush microfiber ear pads are both comfortable and breathable. Controls are easily accessible and really not hard to figure out once you get into the practice of using them regularly. There’s only really two controls to care about: mic mute and volume. HyperX did not overly complicate this, which is great. From a sound perspective, the Alpha2s come with 53mm dual chamber drivers and offer 7.1.4 spatial audio with the use of NGENUITY software.
My main gripe isn’t with the hardware. It’s the NGENUITY software and HyperX’s approach to software in general. So here are some of my findings thus far.
When the base station is connected to the PC via USBA -> USBC, the Alpha 2 Wireless functions just fine, but NGENUITY software will not detect it. I had to switch to direct USBC -> USBC.
It turns out that NGENUITY “beta” is the only version at the moment that allows connectivity to Alpha 2. Why give consumers a beta version of software? Is it not ready?
When NGENUITY detected my Alpha 2 setup, it immediately prompted me for a firmware update. Okay, great! Progress right? No. I had to download a separate application to perform the firmware update. Why couldn’t this be done with NGENUITY?
During firmware setup, although I had success updating the base station, I had many issues updating the headset. It turns out that even if you’ve successfully updated the base, you’ll have to re-update it again because the headset needs to follow after. It’s all fine now, but it shouldn’t have to be this hard.
HyperX claims that NGENUITY can allow for base station customizability, which is somewhat true. I was not able to create macros as advertised as I was only able to reassign buttons to alphanumeric keys or special keys.
NGENUITY adds 5 additional virtual Output Sound devices on top of the standard “HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless”. I can see how this can confuse a consumer.
Even after those problems on the PC, I still think these headphones are fantastic as they stand. The sound quality is excellent for gaming and the use of the base station is actually very nice. There is a button on the base station that is yellow and has what looks to be an equalizer of some sort…still haven’t figured out what it is. But sidetone, mic mute, chat <-> game balance, mic volume, volume control and mic mute…it’s all there on that base. I will say that NGENUITY does work well when it comes to its audio equalizer and spatial audio customizations, and that’s probably something that will be missed when running a game console. I am able to dial the equalizer to something that jives with how I love to listen to games, music and movies.
Another amazing feature that’s being included in more and more headsets are the simultaneous connectivity between your PC and a Bluetooth device, like your cell phone. So you can game and take a phone call if need be. We know that happens all the time.
Which brings me to my conclusion: I think the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headphones with base station are a fantastic set of hardware, built to last. And that’s key: Built to last. I think console players will never experience what I did on PC and that might be a good thing. As for PC users, I think the word here is patience. Patience knowing that HyperX will come up with updates in the future and non-beta builds of NGENUITY that fully supports the Alpha 2. It’s very hard to ignore the build quality of this headset and for that I give a recommendation.

One headset to rule them all? Gaming, music, movies

The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless is a premium offering from HyperX. It could be considered a top-of-the-line gaming headset with upgraded drivers and an intriguing wireless control hub. Let's see how this new headset stacks up against the competition in the crowded high-end gaming space.
Overview and Specs
===================================
HyperX has a reputation for making some of the most comfortable and reliable headsets in the game, and the Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless is their latest "big swing" at the premium market. I mean, "Cloud" is in the name, and they have historically used pillowy-soft pads that are comfortable for long stretches of gaming (or meetings...). Other manufacturers may have pioneered the control hub "accessory" but now HyperX is getting into the game. Not only that, it has dual-connectivity for lag-free 2.4ghz and Bluetooth (BT) for your phone or other consoles.
It's priced to compete with the other high-end gaming headsets, so you would definitely consider it a luxury investment. For that price, you’re getting upgraded 53mm dual-chamber drivers and a battery that lasts a mind-blowing 250 hours. I don't know about you, but I can't even approach that amount of gaming in a week!
Initial Setup
===================================
Getting everything running is pretty straightforward considering how technical it looks with the included base station.
Inside the box, you’ll find the headset, a nice pouch with all of the cables you need, the detachable mic, and the standout feature: the multi-function base station. Easing your connectivity burden is the goal while adding useful features via customizable buttons and a large, useful knob. You'll immediately connect via 2.4GHz wireless for your PC and can use Bluetooth for your phone or laptop simultaneously. For the basics, this driverless nature means it instantly works with Windows for audio without installing HyperX's software, Ngenuity. It also works with a PS4 or PS5 for instant wireless audio!
Billed as an industry-first, the RGB base station is definitely eye-catching and will add some real style to your desk with a premium-feeling dial and programmable buttons. You can easily you swap inputs or toggle settings without pausing the game. There's a single USB-C port for power and connectivity to your PC or console of choice, and two 3.5mm jacks for line in and line out. The 6 well-sized buttons can be customized for color and function.
You can also customize the knob's color ring which has a large, handy mute button dead-center.
The headset itself is weighty with nice metal arms and a premium feel. The headband support and ear cushions feel super soft and comfortable. The headband support has more of a faux leather feel, while the earpads have a cloth texture. The control layout on the headset itself is fairly intuitive with the standard power, mute, a multifunction button, and a volume wheel. You'll also see the ports for the detachable mic and 3.5mm headset cable.
Performance
===================================
When it comes to sound, the Cloud Alpha 2 delivers a clean, punchy experience. The upgraded, dual-chamber drivers do a great job of separating the bass from the mids, so explosions in a shooter won't drown out the sound of enemy footsteps. It’s tuned to be fun and slightly warm since that's usually more enjoyable for music, movies and games. It's not a bass-monster, but I'd say it's pretty accurate and the crisp, clean sounds helps you use audio cues to take action in-game.
Spatial audio and a comfortable on-head feel let you stay immersed and focused on the game at hand.
When listening to music or movies, the headset also excels and though you may miss out on the deepest of rumbles, it's a great overall performer that you can use throughout your day from meetings, to music, to games and movies without compromise. I've had gaming headsets that were good for gaming, but not great for music, necessitating some swapping of gear... I don't think you'll have that problem here.
A key thing to note is that BT is built-in to the headset, so you could actually take these with you for listening to music or gaming on your phone. One competitor requires you to pair your BT device to the base station, which effectively tethers that headset to the desk.
The included detachable mic looks good and works well! Obviously this will be just fine for communicating with teammates or web meetings. The directional aspect of the mic means it picks up just the audio it needs to - the sound coming from your mouth. On top of that, you can tweak some settings in Ngenuity for even more control. You'll get audio cues in-ear and a red LED lets you know when you've muted your mic. Sure, it's not as good and detailed as a dedicated mic, but that's an additional expense and clutter for your desk!
The software side (HyperX NGENUITY) is where things get a bit mixed. It offers great spatial audio features that help with immersion, but the interface can feel a bit cluttered and if you're a gamer, another app to control an accessory is probably the last thing you've been asking for. Still, you can customize controls, lighting, mic settings, and the EQ. Gamers playing with friends will definitely appreciate the customizable, useful buttons, but streamers without their own button deck will definitely love using the RGB Base Station.
Over a week of testing, I never had to charge it. I guess I don't game (or have meetings) as much as I thought I would. At nearly 250 hours per charge, I bet I could push through nearly 2 weeks or more of meetings, music, and gaming before needing a charge. Pretty impressive.
Summary
====================================
The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless is a great all-arounder for anyone who lives at their desk and has battery anxiety. It’s incredibly comfortable for all-day meeting/gaming sessions and the audio quality is great for music, movies, and of course games.
If you are a multi-device power user or a streamer who can actually make use of the fancy base station, it’s a great pick. For me, I absolutely love the large volume knob and mute switch that I can control blindly. I don't absolutely need the other features, but it is nice to know they're available when needed.
If you have multiple consoles, phones, or laptops (Windows and a Mac?) you could have one headset to rule them all with the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2.

Comfortable headset with long battery life

The Hyper X Cloud Alpha 2 is a clean/simple looking headset with a bit of features, they kept the flash on the base station. The headset is well built with a metal frame but yet light, the headset has some large earcups that fit over ear with memory foam and microfiber pads.
To get the customization and spatial audio features, you need to download the Ngenuity software. One of the first things I did was update the firmware on the headset, you will be guided to the site to download, you must unzip the files and run the update. If you don't extract the files before running the update it will fail in the process. The app can adjust the Game/Chat Balance, EQ, Spatial Audio Settings, Lighting on the Base Station and modify the Key Shortcuts. I like that the keys are customizable, but the keys have icons on them which I don't mind leaving them as is so I know what they do at a glance, however the option is there.
The sound is really clean, I don't have any complaints about the audio, I have been playing a lot of the current Diablo season but have jumped in to Arc Raiders from time to time and have taken advantage of the spatial audio to keep tabs on everything around me. No complaints about the Microphone from those I have talked with. The detachable microphone is adjustable and can be put where you prefer, when muted, there is a small light towards the end of the mic that helps to show it is muted. You can adjust the volume easily with the base station or headset, a mute button on both plus pause and play audio.
The headset has a massive battery, I have had several long gaming sessions over the last week, the headset is sitting at 80% battery after one full charge! You can have the headset connected to the base station only, but there is also a dual input mode which can be connected to a bluetooth at the same time. I haven't taken the opportunity of the dual imput and have kept it on adapter mode, which is stated to give double the battery life at 250 hours!. The dual connection mode at 125 hours is still respectable.
I think they should push the headset software to a separate page as the Beta software is needed for the headset. I accidentally downloaded the wrong first. Windows can also open the zip folder, which can cause the firmware update to fail causing some confusion. These are simple changes that could help folks getting started, getting situated does require you to jump between a couple windows and download the proper software which hopefully is improved on the product page.
Overall the headset is great! I have been able to use it for hours without discomfort plus no worry over needing to charge is a session is great. The software does need some improvements, mostly in ease of use, layout feels as there is a lot of unused space. A few EQ Presets would be nice. The functionality, build and comfort makes the headset a wonderful.

Feature-Packed Gaming Headset

The HyperX – Cloud Alpha 2 is a feature-packed gaming headset. The comfort, overall sound quality, and the cool RGB base are some of the features that stand out. Having used this gaming headset for a couple of days, this headset has so far been a seriously awesome addition to my gaming sessions. This is my review of the HyperX – Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset.
*TLDR at the bottom
=========
IN THE BOX/SET-UP:
In the box, you get the Cloud Alpha 2, the Base Station, a soft headset bag, two USB-C cables(one of them having a USB-C to USB-A adapter), an AUX cable, a detachable microphone, and a quick start guide.
The setup was simple and took less than 10 minutes with cable management. Simply plug the base into your computer’s USB-C port and turn on the headset. Ensure that the headset is set to the correct connection setting. This can be done on the headset itself. Wireless toggle for only a 2.4GHz connection or the Wireless/Bluetooth toggle for a dual connection. One device is connected via the 2.4GHz connection, and the other device is connected via Bluetooth. While the Ngenuity App is optional, I highly recommend it to be able to access more advanced settings and features. Also, ensure that you download the Beta version, as the original Ngenuity app did not detect the headset.
=========
DESIGN/COMFORT:
In terms of design, the Cloud Alpha 2s are on the heavier side compared to other gaming headsets I have tried. This is due to the addition of some metal parts to the headset, which adds a premium and durable feel. But this feeling of durability does come with the weight. There are also not many buttons on the headset because all your audio controls are on the RGB base. The base can control volume, mic volume, mic monitoring, game/chat balance, and can even play/pause your media. One can also quickly mute the mic with a simple tap of the haptic feedback button between the volume wheel, which is an excellent touch! The only item missing that I wish this base had built-in is media control buttons. Luckily, these controls can be easily programmed to perform these functions using the app.
In terms of comfort, this gaming headset is surprisingly comfortable, even with the extra weight. I’ve had 5+ hour gaming sessions and did not feel any discomfort. Although the ear cushions are on the thicker end, and don’t have much breathability. With the lack of breathability, I have noticed I get hotter with this headset compared to other headsets I have used.
=========
SOUND/MICROPHONE QUALITY:
Sound quality is great but not excellent. Outside the box, the sound is balanced, with the lows noticeably lacking. But with the Ngenuity app, there is a built-in EQ. To say the least, it is amazing. One can choose between editing a simple EQ to a more advanced EQ with precise audio control. I’m no expert, but playing around with the EQ does considerably increase sound quality to what you desire. But even without touching the EQ, sound quality was fine. I was able to hear the footsteps of enemy players in FPSs like Battlefield 6 and feel the immersive sounds of action-adventure games like Rise of the Tomb Raider. Spatial audio is also great, and if needed, spatial audio can be fine-tuned to your liking within the app.
Microphone quality is outstanding, too. By default, mic monitoring (sidetone or setting to hear your own voice) is set to low. I typically set it a little higher, and it works wonderfully. Additionally, in-game chats were fine, and my teammates heard me loud and clear.
=========
FEATURES/OTHER NOTES:
Below are some key features and notes about the Cloud Alpha 2s:
- This gaming headset has no active noise cancelling; I was able to hear my PC fans and furnace clearly
- The Ngenuity app, while it is in beta, I have not run into any app-breaking bugs
- Battery life is great; I have yet to charge the headset
- This gaming headset supports dual audio (2.4GHz and Bluetooth)
- The base station’s RGB is customizable, and buttons are programmable
- The lettering on the base station(sides) is hard to see in dark environments
- This headset is compatible with consoles like the PS5
- Headset has a built-in mic that is not as good as the detachable mic, but still usable in certain situations, like phone calls
=========
CONCLUSION/TLDR:
Overall, the Cloud Alpha 2 is an excellent gaming headset. The provided bass station allows you to control your audio carefully and quickly switch between settings. Sound quality is great but not excellent, although the app does have a built-in EQ to fine-tune your audio, which I highly recommend. Spatial audio can also be fine-tuned for those audiophiles out there. The headset is on the heavier side, but comfort was not sacrificed. I did not feel any discomfort, just more heat due to the ear cushion design. If you are looking for a feature-packed gaming headset with a nice RGB base station to control all your audio from, this is the gaming headset for you. I highly recommend you give this gaming headset a shot!

My New Go To Gaming Headset!
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I just got my hands on the new HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headset, and I have to say, opening the box was pretty exciting. The packaging looks clean and professional, with the HyperX logo standing out. Inside, everything was neatly packed: the headset, a soft carrying pouch, the detachable mic, a USB-C cable for charging, and that cool RGB base station that doubles as the wireless dongle and a hub with controls. There was also a quick-start guide and some warranty info, nothing fancy, but it all felt high-quality and ready to go right away.
Hooking it up was super easy, which I really appreciated. On my PC, I plugged the base station into a USB port, and the headset connected automatically over 2.4GHz, with no drivers needed for basic use. I did download the HyperX NGENUITY app later to tweak settings, and it updated the firmware quickly. For my PlayStation 5, I just paired it via Bluetooth while using the base station for game audio, and it worked flawlessly with no noticeable lag. The dual connectivity option is handy, and switching between devices felt seamless.
Now, onto actually playing with them. I've tested them in a few games so far. First, on PC with Arc Raiders. The sound was spot-on; I could hear distant footsteps and environmental noises clearly, which helped me stay aware of threats. The 53mm drivers gave great directional audio, making it easier to track enemies.
Then I jumped into PUBG on PC the next day. In those intense battles, the bass seemed to hit pretty hard on explosions, and gunfire sounded crisp. My teammates said I came through clear on the mic, even with some background noise. The AI noise reduction worked well. Comfort was solid too. I played for hours without my ears getting sore, thanks to the memory foam pads which I think I like slightly better than my Corsair HS80’s.
Finally, on tested them on my PS5 playing the new Battlefield 6. The wireless setup let me move around freely during big matches. Audio seemed to sync perfectly, with no delay on vehicle sounds or chatter. The battery life is insane! Even after long sessions, it barely drained, living up to the 250-hour claim. Still haven’t had to charge them yet.
Compared to my previous Corsair HS80’s, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 feels like a noticeable upgrade in a few key areas. The battery life on the Alpha 2 is on a whole other level. The HS80, I'd often have to plug it in every couple of days since it only lasted around 20 hours per charge. Sound-wise, the directional audio and spatial cues in games like Arc Raiders and Battlefield feel more precise and immersive on the HyperX, with better separation in the mids and highs. Comfort is similar between the two, and both are great for long sessions, but the Alpha 2's lighter build and softer pads edge it out slightly for me, especially as they don't clamp as tightly. The HS80 has a fantastic broadcast-quality mic that's hard to beat for clarity in voice chat, but the Alpha 2's detachable mic with noise reduction holds its own pretty well. The base station on the HyperX adds handy controls and dual connectivity, which the HS80's simpler dongle doesn't match.
Pros:
• Incredible 250 hour battery life.
• Excellent sound quality for gaming, with strong spatial audio and balanced profile.
• Very comfortable for long playtime, lightweight with good padding.
• Versatile connectivity (2.4GHz, Bluetooth, dual mode) across PC and PS5.
• Solid build and handy base station controls.
Cons:
• Ear cups can get a little warm after extended use, especially in a hotter room.
• The HyperX NGENUITY app had a couple of minor glitches for me, like slow EQ changes, but nothing major.
Overall, I've been really impressed with the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless so far. It's quickly replaced my Corsair HS80 as my go-to headset. It's become my favorite for gaming sessions. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it if you're looking for top-tier wireless audio, comfort, and that insane battery life. Hope this helps when investing in a new gaming headset.

These headphones are so good that before I go into the review I’m going to say If you’re in the market for over the ear headset (not just gaming) buy the Cloud Alpha 2. The Alpha 2 have the best battery life on the market and are one of the most comfortable headsets out there.
What makes them worth buying.
Sound: The sound from this headset is amazing, you hear all the details regardless if you’re watching movie/gaming or listening to music. The high’s and mid’s sound very rich and you will hear things in your music that you haven’t heard before. The lows are nice, while not eardrum rattling, it’s the perfect amount so you’re not ruining your eardrum.
Comfort: The Alpha 2’s are one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever used. The ear cups are big enough to fit all ears sizes and the microfiber earpads feel amazing, what makes the earpads even better is they can be replaced. I used the headset for work and play, 12 hours, and had no ear fatigue and the microfiber is super breathable so no sweating. The headband uses memory foam and is comfortable although im not sure how well it will wear overtime. There is no ANC, however the way they fit your ears makes it impossible to hear anything around you if you have something playing. For those worried about their surroundings there is a passthrough mode which allow outside sounds to come in if you want.
Mics: There are 2 sets of mics for the Cloud Alpha 2’s , the boom mic and the other set which is built into the headset itself. The built-in mics do a excellent job for phone calls and the person on the other side had no issue hearing me. Having the built-in mics is great this way you can use the headset for more than just gaming. The boom mic does make a difference compared to the normal mics, it reduced the amount of ambient noise and there was less fluctuation in my voice while gaming.
Battery: The battery life on these is amazing, I used them for 7.5 hours on Bluetooth and only lost 2% battery. When using dual mode and having Bluetooth and the base station connected I lost battery at about 1% an hour. What makes the battery portion even better is that it is changeable, I didn’t see this coming as no companies do this anymore. If your battery ever does get damaged or doesn’t hold a charge you can replace it easily.
Base station : The included dock works well, simple to use and is great for all PC gamers. It allows you to reduce gaming volume or increase mic volume with a simple twist. The buttons on the dock have a nice feel and can be customized through the software. One of the best things about the base station is it allows you to control the volume of the game independently from your phone, if you get a phone call while connected in dual mode the base station will control all setting for the game while your phones volume is controlled through your phone.
What could be better.
Base station: While the dock is nice for PC gaming its tough for console gaming as its not wireless, if you do decide to use it for console gaming you will have wires running everywhere. The mute button on the base station isn’t a button, its more like a screen that you tap.
Buttons on the headset: The buttons are too flush and its hard to know where they are by just feeling, some texture should have been added to them to make them easier to identify.
Software: The Ngenuity software is still in beta and it only works on windows.
While there are a few issues with the Cloud Alpha 2 they are still one of, if not the best, headsets on the market.

Premium headset with great sound and comfort

The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset package comprises two main components: the headset itself and the dedicated interface base.
The headset is a premium feeling, solidly built wireless unit designed for durability and long-term comfort.
• The hinges connecting the earcups to the headband are made of metal, ensuring they can withstand the repeated stress of pivoting and twisting during use.
• The earcup padding is a felt-like material, not traditional pleather. This fabric creates a soft seal, is breathable, and prevents sweat build-up during long gaming sessions.
• Despite the soft material, the noise isolation is impressive, allowing the drivers to produce clear, high-quality sound without ambient noise interference. This effective passive isolation eliminates the need for potentially sound-distorting active noise-cancelling circuitry.
• Due to the substantial use of metal, it is not an ultra-lightweight headset, but the ample padding on both the headband and earcups maintains high comfort levels for extended wear.
• Sound quality during gaming is described as extremely clear and precise, enhancing player awareness and confidence.
• The microphone sound quality is clear and "bright" according to others. It is highly flexible and maneuverable, and conveniently detachable when not needed.
• A valuable feature is the ability to connect to your sound source via a wire, giving it broad compatibility beyond its wireless capabilities.
The second component is the dedicated interface base, which serves as a powerful control hub.
• The base's main features work effectively, with the large, round knob for volume control being a significant quality-of-life improvement over standard PC or keyboard controls. LEDs clearly indicate the current volume level.
• A large, touch-sensitive button provides an excellent, quick method to mute the microphone.
• The base includes six large buttons for on-the-fly adjustments. The most frequently used controls are typically mic gain, mute, and play/pause. Pressing one of these buttons allows you to use the large spinning knob to adjust the corresponding setting.
• To fully unlock and remap the six buttons to custom keyboard keys, the NGenuity Beta app is required.
While the base is highly functional, it currently feels like it lacks some quality-of-life or deeper customization options. Since the NGenuity app is still in beta, it is possible that more features will be added in future updates.
Overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 package performs well above competitors in sound quality, premium feel, and overall usability.
The ability to simultaneously connect to a computer and a Bluetooth device is a particularly useful multitasking feature. The one missing element is a surround-aware mode, the ability to temporarily hear your physical surroundings while gaming. This is a desirable feature that could hopefully be added via a future firmware update.
If you have the budget for a premium wireless headset paired with an external interface that places crucial controls instantly at your command, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 is an excellent choice.

A great gaming headset for the Playstation 5

Let's get right into it.
Sound quality on the Cloud Alpha 2 is excellent. I wouldn't put it into the audiophile category, but it's definitely above average, with great clarity and punchy bass. The spatial audio features add high quality separation effects for gaming. I've been playing through Silent Hill 2 on PS5 and it's been a great experience.
In terms of comfort, they're probably the most comfortable set I've ever owned. The ear pads feel great, with a (in my opinion) a perfect level of softness in the foam. The headset hugs my head nicely without ever feeling pinched, even after hours of use, and my ears stay cool.
They seem very well constructed. The headband and forks are made of metal. Probably aluminum, because it still maintains a lightweight, but solid feel. The swivel on the cups seems well made.
The Base Station is interesting, but as I'm primarily using these connected to my PlayStation 5, I don't have a lot of use for it. It seems like it's probably great for PC users, granting access to a variety of quick functions at the touch of a button, but for others it's probably just adding unnecessary expense.
it features dual wireless connectivity, both with the base station and Bluetooth technology. I have it paired to my phone and switching between the two is seamless. It automatically switches when I'm receiving a call, for example. You can also connect via an included 3.5mm cable, if you're so inclined.
On the subject of calls, the microphone is fine. It's not going to win any awards or anything, but it's clearer than a lot of others and gets the job done.
Battery Life on this thing is incredible. I plugged it in to charge right after I got it and it's been running strong ever since. At least 6 hours a day for the past two weeks and it hasn't broken a sweat.
Overall, the Cloud Alpha 2 is a fantastic headset for gaming and general comms use. It's easy to switch between multiple devices and the fit and sound quality are excellent. I'm not sure it really beats out other available options at the asking price, but it's certainly a worthy competitor, and you should definitely check it out.

Lightweight & Built Like a Tank.

So far, I am a huge fan of the HyperX Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset. I have been using mine on my PS5 and it works seamlessly. I was not sure how much use the RGB base station would get, but I use it way more than I thought I would - I honestly don't know how I could go back to gaming without it.
PROs:
1) RGB Base Station - Like I said, I didn't think I would use the RGB Base Station but having all of your headset controls right in front of you is a massive convenience. Only my last headset, I found myself always feeling my way around the ear cups looking for all of the different controls - sometimes I would have to take them off because of all the miss-hits. The Alpha 2 eliminates any and all guess work when needing to make quick adjustments.
2) Comfort - I have a massive head so you can imagine the difficulties I face trying to find the right gaming headset. I've found that gaming headsets in this price range fit best and the Alpha 2 did not disappoint. The ear cups are made of an incredibly soft material and I can wear these for hours without my head feeling like it's being squeezed.
3) Build - These are built like a tank. They have a mostly aluminum construction that proves to be lightweight and sturdier than the last several headsets I've used.
4) Sound - Thanks to the Alpha 2's 53mm drivers, these headphones have range. Explosions are punchy and I can pick up on some of the most faint sounding footsteps- they allow you to fully immerse yourself in the game with pinpoint accuracy for any sound.
CONs:
1) Headband - While I do think these are incredibly comfortable, I do notice some extra pressure under my ears. I think this is from the position of the ear cups. This is one of the only headsets I've owned where the top of the ear cups are angled back and the bottom of the ear cups are more forward. Because of the ear cup orientation, there seems to be more weight and pressure transferred to the bottom of the ear cups. My hope is that they need to break in more but this design choice prevents the Cloud Alpha 2 from being perfect.
2) Noise Cancelation - This may not be a con for most people, but I think the ear cups block out too much sound. I'm the kind of person that prefers more ambient sound from my surroundings - I don't always want to be completely isolated. On top of that, I also want to be able to hear myself more when I am talking to people online.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The HyperX Alpha 2 will absolutely take your gaming setup to the next level. They offer every feature you could possibly need from a next-gen gaming headset. The base station is the real stand-out feature and well worth the additional investment. The Cloud Alpha 2 is worth every penny.

I bought my first HyperX headset off the strength of a gaming site "best of" feature. The site said the HyperX headset was the best that year, I bought it. I was not let down one bit. With that said, my expectations for the HyperX - Cloud Alpha 2 were high, as I've come to have a certain expectation of HyperX products. Not only do I find my expectations met, I'd say with this set they were exceeded.
Build quality on the HyperX - Cloud Alpha 2 headset is solid. While I wouldn't say it feels like it was built out of the most expensive materials, I'd instead say they feel like they're built out of the correct materials. You can definitely feel the metals of the headband and the forks holding the headset together, while the headset section feels a little plastic-ish...which, is fine...because the the earpads? THEY FEEL AMAZING. While I've had other brands who have used materials that felt like they may cost a pretty penny, the microfiber earpads on the Hyper X - Cloud Alpha 2 feel like if they do cost a lot...it's definitely money well spent. These are some of the most comfortable headphones I've used for long sessions. Combine that with the memory foam headband and I feel like I could fall to sleep with these things on.
The HyperX - Cloud Alpha 2s are so comfortable you almost forget about what matters most with any headset...audio quality. These are no slouch in that department either. While not the loudest headphones I've had, the audio is crisp. Directional audio is super solid. As a big fan of shooters, nobody is creeping up on me with these on. The design and materials of the headphones keep me locked in to what I'm hearing, even without a big "ANC' feature being advertised on the box.
Last but not least...battery life on these seems like a lifetime. I can't say I've tested the 250 hours on a charge claim HyperX advertises....but, it might as well be 500 hours as I feel like they last forever. If not for my PS5 controllers battery life I might be glued to the game all day with the combination of comfort and battery life these headphones provide.
I have tons of headsets laying around my house, but the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 has now earned it's spot as a headset I will keep dedicated to a device and consistently use. As someone a decent amount of video game headset experience, I can't recommend these ones enough.

Top notch headset, quality/sound are top notch!

The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 is hands down the best gaming headset I have ever used, and being a 37 year old “techie” I’ve used MANY from all the top brands. Between the software/hardware and the feel of the headset, it's all top notch. (The overall value of this class of headset completely depends on your use case, if the cost isn’t an issue, you’ll love it!)
The second you open the box you can tell this is a different level of headset. The headset itself is so solid, metal and premium feeling parts all over. The base station feels so solid, the RGB lights look top notch, not the “excessive RGB” feel that some new products have. The app installs easily, had a bit of a hiccup updating the firmware on first use, but it worked after I tried again.
While I’m no audiophile, the sound IS AMAZING. I’m getting up there as far as “gamer” goes, but I’ve heard so many different headsets over the years, and this one takes the cake. Games, music, videos, nothing sounds off, and even if it does, you have so many equalizer options! Plus the comfort is great! (my extra large head fits fine, does make me a bit warm, but almost every headset does)
(Battery life seems to be stellar, haven’t tested up to their claims, but after a couple hours of use the app is still reporting 100%)
Hyper X has an absolute winner on their hands with this epic headset!

Nice Headset with Many Features

I have been using this HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Headset for a few days now and have been pretty pleased with the performance.
I have not used the headset long enough to require a recharge, but since a voice prompt states the battery percent, I would believe the estimate is accurate. I have left the dual audio mode on and have used the headset for about 10 hours with about 90 percent of the battery left. I believe the battery life would be about 200 hours if I was to use the 2.4GHz.
The headset is very well built and have very comfortable velvet-type fabric earpads and pleather headband. Overall, I liked the headphones as the sound and microphone were both pretty decent. I even liked to be able to control features on the headset using the base station. I had a difficult time getting the firmware to update at first, but after a few trials the headset worked nicely with the Ngenuity Beta software.
Overall, I would recommend this headset for gaming. They sound pretty nice, and have a lot of features which can be modified using the app, the base station or the headset.

Amazing Wireless Headphones by HyperX Cloud

Just when you think a company can’t perfect an item like headphones, you get proven wrong. HyperX stepped up and made headphones even better. These wireless headphones come incredibly packaged. Super professional packaging. To start, the headphones have a superior build quality. Clearly superior materials were used to make these. They are on the slightly heavy size but not uncomfortable at all. The ear pads are super comfortable. Even after several hours of gaming, I found they remained comfortable and never irritated my ears. Now, the sound quality. Boom! The sound was amazing. From the highest of highs, to clean mids, to heavy bass, these headphones sound perfect. From RPG to First Shooters, the sound was great. Speech was clear and concise and background sounds came in crystal clear. Battery life is crazy at up to 250 hours. Using the microphone, online gamers found my speech clear and concise. The RGB base station is customizable with 6 clear easy to read buttons. You also get 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth simultaneously. I never had a dropped signal. They give you all the cables you’ll ever need to hook up to most anything such as your PC or console. If you are thinking about buying these, just do it. They are so worth it!!!! Simply awesome headphones that do it all.

I gave this headset 4 out of 5 stars. The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless delivers excellent audio quality, a solid wireless connection, and outstanding comfort—perfect for long gaming sessions. It fits over my ears perfectly and doesn’t cause fatigue, just as many other reviewers have mentioned.
However, the software is still in beta and can feel clunky and unintuitive at times. Some users have reported similar frustrations with the software, though most agree that the hardware easily makes up for it.
Overall, this is a fantastic headset for PC, consoles, and mobile gaming. If HyperX improves the software, it would easily earn 5 stars. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort and quality audio.

The headset is great, the build is top quality, the comfort is amazing as always with cloud headsets, the new earpads are much better than the leatherette ones, the only thing that is lacking its volume, I have to crank the volume up all the way to 19/20, 20/20 to play competitive shooters on PC, that can be fixed with a firmware update, the sound aside from the lack of volume its amazing for hearing footsteps and locate enemies and hearing all sound effects from the game, pretty happy with my purchase, I hope they finish the Ngenuity software soon to unlock the full potential of the headset.

These were ok, hubby was excited for a new set since his had about had it and we knew Hyper makes great headphones. I don't know if it was user error (probably) or what, but we could not get the settings right and the sound was so bad. I could hear every work I was saying even while muted from his mic or i couldn't hear him at all. Again, it could just be user error but we didn't have issues with our previous headsets by Hyper. returned them for this reason and got a diff set.

Been gaming for 20+ years. This is the one. My favorite headset so far. Fantastic and LOUD audio in a rechargeable headset is rare, and pair that with a mic that doesn’t bleed over! I’m going to buy a second headset so I can ride this for years!

Sound quality on these are amazing, the included RGB base lets you customize the volume of the headset, how loud you can hear yourself and even have many different media controls. The HyperX NGenuity software is lacking but being constantly updated so there will be more to come. Otherwise microphone quality, battery life and comfort is where this headset excels!

Software issues and poor mic quality

I have been a lifelong HyperX fan, and was very excited to upgrade to these from my several year old Cloud Flight S. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed once I received them.
First, I’ll talk about the positives: The headset itself seems great, build quality is solid, it’s comfy, and overall I liked the look. Physically, it’s what I’d expect from a headset of this cost.
Now for the negatives: In my opinion, a headset as expensive as this should be plug-and-play. That is not the case here. Yes, they “worked” straight out of the box, but the sound quality left much to be desired and the mic quality (according to friends in discord who had to listen to it) was substantially worse than my previous headset. I spent far too long playing with audio settings in an attempt to get the mic to sound better. The “HyperX NGENUITY” software for tweaking the headset and base is also extremely buggy. It continually prompted me to update the firmware, and no matter what I did this process would fail.
I consider myself technically competent, but I never was able to get the mic quality to improve. By tweaking some EQ settings, I did get the sound quality to meet my expectations.
Overall, I would not recommend this product in its current state. Maybe once the software issues are ironed out, it will reach its full potential.
