    Love It

Had been using a Razer BlackShark V3 Pro headset and it just gave me audio delays and I decided to get this. Had problems out of the box but that’s only Becuase during setup I didn’t read the full instructions. Boy oh boy was I dumb. I was gonna return it, but the next day I took a longer look at the instructions and saw the side switch to turn from “line out” to “headset” and that was all it took. Sound is great. Mic is ok but better than the Razer.

My New Go To Gaming Headset!

I just got my hands on the new HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headset, and I have to say, opening the box was pretty exciting. The packaging looks clean and professional, with the HyperX logo standing out. Inside, everything was neatly packed: the headset, a soft carrying pouch, the detachable mic, a USB-C cable for charging, and that cool RGB base station that doubles as the wireless dongle and a hub with controls. There was also a quick-start guide and some warranty info, nothing fancy, but it all felt high-quality and ready to go right away. Hooking it up was super easy, which I really appreciated. On my PC, I plugged the base station into a USB port, and the headset connected automatically over 2.4GHz, with no drivers needed for basic use. I did download the HyperX NGENUITY app later to tweak settings, and it updated the firmware quickly. For my PlayStation 5, I just paired it via Bluetooth while using the base station for game audio, and it worked flawlessly with no noticeable lag. The dual connectivity option is handy, and switching between devices felt seamless. Now, onto actually playing with them. I've tested them in a few games so far. First, on PC with Arc Raiders. The sound was spot-on; I could hear distant footsteps and environmental noises clearly, which helped me stay aware of threats. The 53mm drivers gave great directional audio, making it easier to track enemies. Then I jumped into PUBG on PC the next day. In those intense battles, the bass seemed to hit pretty hard on explosions, and gunfire sounded crisp. My teammates said I came through clear on the mic, even with some background noise. The AI noise reduction worked well. Comfort was solid too. I played for hours without my ears getting sore, thanks to the memory foam pads which I think I like slightly better than my Corsair HS80’s. Finally, on tested them on my PS5 playing the new Battlefield 6. The wireless setup let me move around freely during big matches. Audio seemed to sync perfectly, with no delay on vehicle sounds or chatter. The battery life is insane! Even after long sessions, it barely drained, living up to the 250-hour claim. Still haven’t had to charge them yet. Compared to my previous Corsair HS80’s, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 feels like a noticeable upgrade in a few key areas. The battery life on the Alpha 2 is on a whole other level. The HS80, I'd often have to plug it in every couple of days since it only lasted around 20 hours per charge. Sound-wise, the directional audio and spatial cues in games like Arc Raiders and Battlefield feel more precise and immersive on the HyperX, with better separation in the mids and highs. Comfort is similar between the two, and both are great for long sessions, but the Alpha 2's lighter build and softer pads edge it out slightly for me, especially as they don't clamp as tightly. The HS80 has a fantastic broadcast-quality mic that's hard to beat for clarity in voice chat, but the Alpha 2's detachable mic with noise reduction holds its own pretty well. The base station on the HyperX adds handy controls and dual connectivity, which the HS80's simpler dongle doesn't match. Pros: • Incredible 250 hour battery life. • Excellent sound quality for gaming, with strong spatial audio and balanced profile. • Very comfortable for long playtime, lightweight with good padding. • Versatile connectivity (2.4GHz, Bluetooth, dual mode) across PC and PS5. • Solid build and handy base station controls. Cons: • Ear cups can get a little warm after extended use, especially in a hotter room. • The HyperX NGENUITY app had a couple of minor glitches for me, like slow EQ changes, but nothing major. Overall, I've been really impressed with the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless so far. It's quickly replaced my Corsair HS80 as my go-to headset. It's become my favorite for gaming sessions. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it if you're looking for top-tier wireless audio, comfort, and that insane battery life. Hope this helps when investing in a new gaming headset.

    An Almost Perfect Gaming Headset

I’ve been using the new HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset across multiple platforms, and overall it’s been a unique experience. The first thing that stood out to me was just how comfortable these headphones are. The earcups have deep, soft plush padding and the headband distributes weight evenly and is adjustable, which makes long gaming sessions feel effortless. The fit is snug without creating too much pressure on my head, and I really like that the earcups can swivel flat, so I can rest them comfortably on my chest when I have the headset around my neck. The headband cushion is a faux leather material that is soft and feels like it won’t crack over time. The head band itself is a combination of sturdy plastic and reinforced with some sort of metal to keep its integrity on the top for a nice clean look. Design wise, HyperX did a great job balancing a clean, modern look with practical functionality without looking too “gamery”. The removable microphone is a nice touch, especially when I’m just using the headset for casual listening or watching videos. The I/O and buttons on the Cloud Alpha 2 comes with a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5 mm headphone jack that can be plugged into the control hub for lossless audio, Power/ Bluetooth pairing button, mute button, volume wheel and a Multimedia button for pausing playing music or videos. The included audio control hub is another standout feature. It has a physical volume knob and six customizable buttons, complete with RGB lighting that can be tailored to your setup. The default buttons on the control hub are, Mic gain, game/chat mix, Mic monitoring, Audio Mute, EQ preset, and Media control. All 6 of these buttons can be changed if you want from these default features. The hub feels solid and gives quick access to key functions without having to dig through software. That being said, if you don't enable the Ngenuity app to launch when starting your PC in the app’s settings, it will default to that awful spinning Rainbow RGB on the knob until you launch the Ngenuity app. In terms of sound, these headphones genuinely do sound amazing. The audio feels full, powerful, and very detailed. HyperX’s multi-layer composite 53mm drivers do a great job of delivering clean highs, rich mids, and tight lows without distortion, even at higher volumes. Their spatial audio processing adds another layer of immersion, giving you accurate positional sound so you can clearly tell where footsteps, gunshots, or ambient effects are coming from in game, while also being compatible with Dolby Atmos for that 3D sound immersion. It makes everything feel more precise and competitive, especially in FPS titles like COD, Apex and BF6 where audio direction matters. One of my favorite features is the dual wireless functionality. I love being able to use the 2.4GHz wireless connection for gaming while simultaneously having Bluetooth active. I’ve taken phone calls and listened to podcasts on my phone while playing with game audio and voice chat at the same time, and it works seamlessly. That versatility makes this headset incredibly useful if you have multiple gaming devices. I’ve used it with my Desktop PC, Windows laptop, PS5, Switch 2, MacBook, and my phone, and switching between platforms has been smooth and reliable. Also the battery life on these are some of the best I’ve seen for wireless headset with up to 250 hours in 2.4GHz mode or up to 125 hours with simultaneous connection, this alone might be a reason for getting these headphones. The HyperX NGENUITY software adds a lot of customization options. Where you're able to tweak EQ profiles, adjust audio levels, turn on Spatial sound and adjust it top your preferred style and also customizing the RGB lighting effects to match my setup. That said, it’s currently in beta, so there are some little issues that can pop up from time to time. And you will be prompted immediately that you need to download and apply a firmware update to use the app. One important reminder is that don't forget to extract the firmware file from the .ZIP file before trying to install it, or the update won’t work correctly (I did this accidentally when I was launching the update without first extracting the .zip file and it kept failing). There are a couple of downsides that are worth mentioning. The biggest one for me is the lack of active noise cancellation (ANC). The headset does a decent job at passive noise isolation, but for a higher end headset, I really wish ANC was included. Another drawback is that the control hub does not integrate with the Windows system volume UI, meaning you have to manage volume using either the headset wheel or the Control hub’s physical knob. For instance I have a volume knob on my keyboard and if I try to lower the volume with that knob the audio will not change. This feels like a software limitation and could potentially be fixed later, since the software is still in beta. Pros: Amazing battery life Excellent sound quality with detailed, low-distortion audio Immersive spatial audio with accurate positional cues Very comfortable for long sessions Swiveling earcups lay flat on the chest when worn around the neck Dual wireless (2.4GHz + Bluetooth) works smoothly at the same time Wide device compatibility across PC, consoles, Mac, and mobile Removable microphone Strong EQ and lighting customization through software Cons: No active noise cancellation (ANC) Software is still in beta for a released product Firmware update process makes you leave the app to download a .Zip file No integration with Windows volume UI No on board memory for the control hub the Ngenuity app has to be open The control hub wheel defaults to awful spinning rainbow RGB. Overall, I really like the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headset and I want to love it more, but there are a few things holding it back from being truly perfect. The sound quality, comfort, and dual wireless functionality are all excellent, and it’s one of the most versatile headsets I’ve used. That said, the lack of ANC and the fact that the software is still in beta for a fully released product isn’t ideal. I’m hopeful that firmware and software updates will improve the experience over time, because with a few refinements, this headset could easily be one of the best in its class. All that being said, if you are someone that has multiple computers and multiple gaming consoles and you want something that is compatible with all those then I would go with this headset.

Premium headset with great sound and comfort

The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset package comprises two main components: the headset itself and the dedicated interface base. The headset is a premium feeling, solidly built wireless unit designed for durability and long-term comfort. • The hinges connecting the earcups to the headband are made of metal, ensuring they can withstand the repeated stress of pivoting and twisting during use. • The earcup padding is a felt-like material, not traditional pleather. This fabric creates a soft seal, is breathable, and prevents sweat build-up during long gaming sessions. • Despite the soft material, the noise isolation is impressive, allowing the drivers to produce clear, high-quality sound without ambient noise interference. This effective passive isolation eliminates the need for potentially sound-distorting active noise-cancelling circuitry. • Due to the substantial use of metal, it is not an ultra-lightweight headset, but the ample padding on both the headband and earcups maintains high comfort levels for extended wear. • Sound quality during gaming is described as extremely clear and precise, enhancing player awareness and confidence. • The microphone sound quality is clear and "bright" according to others. It is highly flexible and maneuverable, and conveniently detachable when not needed. • A valuable feature is the ability to connect to your sound source via a wire, giving it broad compatibility beyond its wireless capabilities. The second component is the dedicated interface base, which serves as a powerful control hub. • The base's main features work effectively, with the large, round knob for volume control being a significant quality-of-life improvement over standard PC or keyboard controls. LEDs clearly indicate the current volume level. • A large, touch-sensitive button provides an excellent, quick method to mute the microphone. • The base includes six large buttons for on-the-fly adjustments. The most frequently used controls are typically mic gain, mute, and play/pause. Pressing one of these buttons allows you to use the large spinning knob to adjust the corresponding setting. • To fully unlock and remap the six buttons to custom keyboard keys, the NGenuity Beta app is required. While the base is highly functional, it currently feels like it lacks some quality-of-life or deeper customization options. Since the NGenuity app is still in beta, it is possible that more features will be added in future updates. Overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 package performs well above competitors in sound quality, premium feel, and overall usability. The ability to simultaneously connect to a computer and a Bluetooth device is a particularly useful multitasking feature. The one missing element is a surround-aware mode, the ability to temporarily hear your physical surroundings while gaming. This is a desirable feature that could hopefully be added via a future firmware update. If you have the budget for a premium wireless headset paired with an external interface that places crucial controls instantly at your command, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 is an excellent choice.

A great gaming headset for the Playstation 5

Let's get right into it. Sound quality on the Cloud Alpha 2 is excellent. I wouldn't put it into the audiophile category, but it's definitely above average, with great clarity and punchy bass. The spatial audio features add high quality separation effects for gaming. I've been playing through Silent Hill 2 on PS5 and it's been a great experience. In terms of comfort, they're probably the most comfortable set I've ever owned. The ear pads feel great, with a (in my opinion) a perfect level of softness in the foam. The headset hugs my head nicely without ever feeling pinched, even after hours of use, and my ears stay cool. They seem very well constructed. The headband and forks are made of metal. Probably aluminum, because it still maintains a lightweight, but solid feel. The swivel on the cups seems well made. The Base Station is interesting, but as I'm primarily using these connected to my PlayStation 5, I don't have a lot of use for it. It seems like it's probably great for PC users, granting access to a variety of quick functions at the touch of a button, but for others it's probably just adding unnecessary expense. it features dual wireless connectivity, both with the base station and Bluetooth technology. I have it paired to my phone and switching between the two is seamless. It automatically switches when I'm receiving a call, for example. You can also connect via an included 3.5mm cable, if you're so inclined. On the subject of calls, the microphone is fine. It's not going to win any awards or anything, but it's clearer than a lot of others and gets the job done. Battery Life on this thing is incredible. I plugged it in to charge right after I got it and it's been running strong ever since. At least 6 hours a day for the past two weeks and it hasn't broken a sweat. Overall, the Cloud Alpha 2 is a fantastic headset for gaming and general comms use. It's easy to switch between multiple devices and the fit and sound quality are excellent. I'm not sure it really beats out other available options at the asking price, but it's certainly a worthy competitor, and you should definitely check it out.
