The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air comes with a wide variety of cables, so you can connect to different platforms including PC, mobile, and all the major gaming consoles using their respective cords. The cables are wrapped in kink-free and tangle-resistant braided fabric and include a primary 4 to 5-pole 3.5mm AUX cable, USB-C cable with in-line DAC and USB-A adapter, and headphone/microphone splitter cable. While dealing with cords may be a deal-breaker for some, the thing I like about wired headsets is that you don’t have to charge them or worry about their batteries running out. The headphones have a wide frame with a flexible metal headband, plastic sliders with 12 discrete increments, metal earcup hangers, and metal mesh-backed cups, through which you can see the red-accent bass tube on the back side of its 40mm drivers. Since these have no internal battery or playback controls, they are lightweight at just 10oz. There is a permanently-attached, leather-wrapped foam cushion on the underside of the band, while the ear pads are swathed in silkier micro-suede leather. The interiors of the cups are also red and marked L and R. The pads measure 3-1/4” wide, 4-1/4” tall, and 1” thick with generously-sized 1-3/4” wide and 2-3/4” tall cavities. They made with low-density foam that feels soft and cushy around my ears. I appreciate that the pads are replaceable, however, the cushion under the headband does not appear to be. The left ear cup has the mic mute button, headset jack, and mic jack, while the right ear cup has only a main volume control dial. When installing the removable mic, its connector only fits in one direction, as there is a mute LED embedded in the side that faces you. When attaching the AUX cable, the connector with 5-poles marked with a red ring gets plugged into the headset. I found the fit of these headphones decently comfortable with a moderate amount of clamping force, though it put a bit more pressure on my face in front of my ear than I’m used to due to the size and shape of the cups. The mic placement is off to the left side of my mouth and since the mute LED is tiny, it falls a bit of outside my field of view. As a result, I can only see it when I look down at the mic to check. The ear pads are breathable and don’t trap heat against my ears over long listening sessions, while the open-back design delivers a wide soundstage with accurate dimensional placement. This allowed me to locate the direction of footsteps and sound effects in open world games like Hogwarts’s Legacy, Counterstrike, and Warframe, creating an immersive, realistic experience both when gaming and watching content with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. The design also reduces air and sound pressure against my ears which reduces listening fatigue and lets me hear my chat feed without sidetone mic monitoring enabled. Ngenuity allows you to adjust settings from a computer like mic or headphone volume and toggle on and off mic monitoring. You’ll also be able to apply various mic effects including custom EQ, AI Noise reduction, compressor or limiter, and 3 presets that boost highs, mids, or lows. The spatial audio mixer can customize its virtual surround sound (7.1 or 11.1 channel) by adjusting EQ and setting the position of chat and voice audio in 3D space. Even without any additional effects applied, I found the microphone quality to be clear and well-balanced, without the thin tinniness and compression often associated with headset mics. My voice comes through cleanly without capturing much background noise and has decent volume when positioned about an inch away from my mouth. These headphones have a tendency to be treble forward helping to enhance vocal clarity. Music, dialogue, and sound effects are sharp and crisp whether I’m gaming, watching a movie or TV show, or just listening to music or a podcast. Open-backed earcups often lose bass frequencies to bleeding by design, so HyperX’s solution to this is to use bass tubes to help maintain support in the lower registers. These help preserve low detail to decent degree without making it feel heavy-handed, though you’ll want to turn up the volume to hear the full effect of it. While you won’t get the same feeling of a deeply sustained rumble as you might from closed-back headphones, the listening experience is quite enjoyable with smooth, bright, and detailed audio with little distortion at higher volumes. Overall, the Cloud Alpha Air offers great sound, comfort, and mic quality in a budget-friendly open-backed wired gaming headset. They are lightweight, and the mic is detachable, if you don’t need it. It works with multiple devices and comes with a drawstring satchel, though doesn’t fold up nor lay flat for travel.

This is my first Open-back headset and I really didn't know what to expect. Most the gaming headphones and earbuds I use, even the ones for the gym, are all noise cancelling or at least closed. The noise cancelling ones has a feature that they call hear-through and at first I thought these headphones would be doing the same thing. It is not the same thing. There is a more "natural" sound with these headphones, it doesn't have that ear thumping bass or really even that wow sound when you put on a really good set of closed headphones. But what you do get is a more "natural" sound, the best I can compare it to as if in a "real" world situation. Now, I did read that headphones like these can lose a lot of bass and the highs won't be as crisp. Although, this is true, I don't think it was that bad, because the return I got was a more spacious sound. I also didn't get that pressure feeling with long use like I get with every other headphones. After hours of mix use from gaming to music and streaming videos, these headphones where never uncomfortable. I didn't get that dreaded hot ears that I always do after wearing it for a long time. As for the other features, it did very well as far as the microphone was concerned. Speaking to other people, I was told that my voice was very clear and they didn't really hear much of the background. Although my microphone did capture a little of the noise coming off my headphones. The headphones themselves are super light and adjustable, so again, comfort level is a 10. It's a wired headset so not many buttons on the unit itself. Comes with a 3.5 and usb cable so you can use either. The software is pretty good but nothing really extraordinary. Gives you a lot to adjust and control over your headphones. I really recommend this headphone but with one caveat. It is best used in an area with not a lot of outside noise, especially for gaming. If you have a lot of traffic in your home or area where you are playing, you will probably be bothered by it. If not, then this headphone is perfect. It is so comfortable and open back design really gives you a sense that you are not even wearing headphones.

I am new to gaming, and I was told to upgrade my gear to enhance the experience, so this was my second gaming specific accessory (a gaming mouse was first) I chose this brand from a recommendation, and it was right in the price point I was willing to spend Packaging was adequate, and I was blown away when I lifted them out of the box as to how light they were. The "air" part of the name truly was accurate, since this were incredibly light Inside the box below the headset, was a very nice pouch that held the cords for both a PC and gaming box, along with the boom mike. The Quick Reference Guide did a great job explaining which set to use Once I put them on my head, my initial impression was that the earcups were the most comfortable I have ever tested. Besides the overall lightness mentioned above, the cups themselves are lined with the most comfortable material I have felt. Impossible to describe but a cross between velvet and your favorite t-shirt Now the sound. Open backed headphones are known for their comfort, but normally lack in the bass, but not these. The bass was booming, and I could hear the most intricate parts like footsteps. Since the cups and weight was so perfect, I was also able to wear these for hours without sweaty ears of fatigue Lastly, the boom mike was super clear to my partners and they appreciated my upgrade almost as much as I did Overall a great choice and upgrade for my game

I have a system I like to play on and I use a wired head set for it. I generally play it in a room by myself, and these caught my eye and fell at the price point I wanted to spend. I had never hear of “open back” headphones before, but after reading up on them, these sounded like I needed to give them a shot. The theory is the midst and the highs are going to be crisper basically because of less reverb created by having a back plate stifle the full range of speaker rebount. I have a pretty good quality set of closed back ones that I can compare these to. I must say, the bass on these is not sacrificed, but I do think the highs especially are more pronounced. Gaming with these on spacial audio is quite good. I have this on a monitor that had an AI analyzer that helps sync my screen to where the computer places the sound, and man, does this do good. I can hear a plane overhead come though from above from one side to the other, or people sneaking up from behind me. I forget at times and want to turn my head it's that good. The build quality is solid and yet light and very comfortable. The airflow is better for long sessions than most of my other headsets. Overall, I have no complaints about these headphones, and I feel I got a good quality pair for what they are priced at. I give these five stars. I do reccomend these to others.
