The HP HyperX OMEN 16 isn’t just another gaming laptop—it’s the kind of machine where you open a game to “test it really quick” … and next thing you know, you’ve been playing for three hours and completely forgot what you were supposed to be doing, until your wife starts yelling at you, but back to the laptop. The HP HyperX OMEN is an absolute beast of a gaming laptop, so let’s get right into. SPECS AS TESTED: PROCESSOR: AMD RYZEN 7 8000 SERIES GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 DISPLAY PANEL: 2.5K OLED 165 HZ RAM: 16 GIG (UPGRADEABLE) STORAGE: 512 GIG SSD (UPGRADEABLE) CONNECTIVITY: PLATHORA OF PORTS, WIFI 7 & BLUETOOTH DIMENSIONS: 1.8 INCHES HEIGHT, 14.07 INCHES WIDTH, 10.59 INCHS DEPTH, AND COMING IN AT 5.47 POUNDS DESIGN: Right out of the box, the sheer weight of this laptop is immediately noticeable. Combined with its power adapter, it’s a hefty package that clocks in at around 7 to 8 pounds—though that is to be expected from a high-performance gaming rig. On the design front, it maintains a clean, understated finish. While it clearly belongs in the gaming category, it avoids over-the-top RGB styling, making it subtle enough for professional settings. One quick warning, though: despite being a "laptop," you won't want to use it on your lap for long, as it tends to run quite hot under normal fan modes. Thermals on the HyperX are surprisingly not bad. It gets warm when you’re pushing it, but it never feels out of control. HP's OMEN software offers several different fan profiles to manage this. For instance, if you bump the fans up to the "Max" setting, the temperatures drop significantly—making it comfortable enough to actually use on your lap—though it does get quite loud as it pushes out a ton of air. Another great touch is the "Fan Clean" feature, which periodically reverses the intake fans for a few seconds to blow out built-up dust and debris. DISPLAY: After your done with the exterior of the laptop and pop open the screen, the first thing that hits you is the beautiful OLED display. The OLED panels already have a strong reputation for richer and brighter colors and deep blacks, and this one really fits that mold, so images feel rich and detailed instead of flat or washed out. The HP HyperX OMEN 16-inch 2.5K OLED panel at 165Hz is just ridiculous in the best way. Everything looks insanely crisp, colors pop, and the contrast is on a whole different level compared to your typical IPS gaming screen. Blacks are actually black, not that washed-out gray you usually see and because it’s OLED with a high refresh rate, it’s not just pretty—it’s smooth too. Fast-paced games feel super responsive, and there’s basically no ghosting. PERFORMANCE: Performance-wise, this thing is an absolute beast. The Ryzen 7 8745HX (MAX BOOST OF 5.1 gigahertz), handles everything you throw at it without breaking a sweat—whether you're gaming, video editing, or multitasking with Discord and a mountain of open browser tabs. Paired with 16GB of RAM and the RTX 5060, it comfortably runs modern AAA titles at high to ultra settings. I meant to just "test it really quick," but ended up losing track of time and having a blast for hours. The gameplay was incredibly smooth with zero lag or ghosting, easily pushing 120Hz to 160Hz depending on the title. STORAGE: The 512GB SSD is fast and everything loads quick, boots are snappy—but yeah, it fills up faster than you think with modern games. The upside is this laptop is actually upgrade-friendly. You can swap out or add more RAM and storage pretty easily, so you’re not stuck with the base setup long term. That’s a big deal if you plan on keeping it for a few years or if you just feel like adding more storage and power. PORTS: Port selection is another thing I appreciate here. You’ve got HDMI 2.1 if you want to hook up to a higher refresh monitor, a USB-C 3.1, one USB-A 3.1, plus two USB-A 3.0 ports for all your usual gear. There’s also a headphone jack and an Ethernet port. BATTERY LIFE: For daily use, basic tasks you can squeeze out about 5 to 6 hours of just, depending on your settings, but when it comes to gaming, grab the charging brick. Overall, the HP OMEN hits the nail right on the head. It’s not just powerful, and it’s not just good-looking—it perfectly nails both. The gorgeous OLED screen paired with the RTX 5060 makes everything look incredible, the performance is superb, and you get all the ports you actually need alongside room to upgrade the RAM and storage down the road. If you're in the market for a genuinely great gaming laptop, look no further.

While HyperX has a bit of a generic look, HP's gaming brand has actually served my family quite well. Thanks to this HyperX Omen my whole family is able to game using one device. My son and I have been taking advantage of Steam's summer sale with the purchase of Retro Rewind and RV There Yet while my wife has been using the laptop to play D&D with her family. In the past, our PCs and Laptops struggled to keep up with the performance of the other members of our family (during virtual game nights), but my wife is finally able to keep up and outperform her Dungeon Master. The design of the laptop is simple and bulky like most gaming laptops, but is not annoyingly heavy. I appreciate that the device runs quietly and that most of the heat seems to be expelled out of the sides instead of downward into my lap. I don't particularly appreciate having the HDMI, Ethernet, & Charging ports on the rear of the laptop as they are difficult to see and difficult to reach. For those who don't move their gaming rig often, this will be preferred (for cord management), but for those (like my family) who like to move their laptop often, having the ports on the side would be a much more convenient option. Battery life is suitable, but not great. I was able to stream a 2 hour movie on Netflix, but was left with only 13% of the battery left. That being said, the OLED screen is phenomenal. The colors are vivid, the black levels are spectacular, and the 165Hz refresh rate makes motion smooth and crisp. Both games and movies look absolutely incredible. My wife and I both noticed that the keys have a decent amount of travel and a nice tactile feel. The RGB keys also look very impressive and are a welcome addition that provides a nice bit of customization and flair. The laptop does have an integrated webcam, but it is not compatible with Windows Hello (which means users are not able to log-in via facial recognition). Also disappointing is that the laptop does not have a fingerprint scanner - which my wife prefers as the quickest way for various users to log-in to a shared device. Overall, we are all pleased with the powerful performance, the impressive screen, the manageable size of the laptop, and my wife very much appreciates the 10 key is not missing. It's an easy recommend from my whole family.

i’ve never owned a HyperX laptop before but after playing around with the latest HyperX Omen 16 which is an OLED gaming laptop I think hyperX is on the right path when it comes to building their own dedicated gaming laptop. The unboxing experience honestly it’s very plain. The box is just a brown box. For what this laptop was worth, I would expect a better packaging, but the overall unboxing experience is fairly simple couple protection inside the box beyond that nothing hard protecting the main box itself. DEVICE: HyperX Omen 16 is a 2.5 K old gaming monitor this one is equipped with Ryzen 78745HXAZ4 processor and it comes with 16GB of RAM the laptop is also quit the mobile RTX 59 version which it’s also equipped with 512 GB of SSD storage. It’s a copilot laptop, and hopefully in the future dedicated copilot button would stop because I never used them as a gaming laptop. Honestly, we don’t really care about any copilot buttons. when it comes to port, you have 1 USB-C plug and then 3 USB A, an HDMI 2.1 a display port 1.4c including wifi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 and is equipped with the RJ-45 for hard wired ethernet. from what I stated earlier, this is a OLED monitor resolution of 2560 x 1600. Also this monitor support HDR so I would highly recommend to use it during HDR which is certified HDR true black 1000, with up to 500 nits of brightness during SDR, Omen 16 is also 100% of DCI-P3 that shows a very vibrant colors. not to forget it also boost a 165Hz refresh rate. a built in front camera that is FHD and support for HDR auto switch. HyperX Omen 16 also weight if 5.47lb. DEVICE AND EXPERIENCE: after holding the laptop, I think the hyper XO 16’s weight is perfect opening up the screen. It has a little bit of wobble, but what’s great about the screen it’s not as flexible, which is one of the key things I checked when using a laptop. HBO man did great by having the IO on the back of the laptop not on the side it helps hide a good amount of wires in case you’ll have it plugged and you have the power cord plugged. The keyboard is a full-blown keyboard all the way from number pads, and the feel of the clicks is very clean and nice no wobble, but one thing about the coding of this laptop it’s definitely a oil magnet so if you’re very oily person, I would highly recommend washing your hand first before touching this laptop because you will see oil markings around the laptop. After booting up this laptop for the first thing, I’ve noticed when booting up steam was how vibrant the color on this OLED laptop I’m not sure because it’s so small which is 16inc compared to my other OLED but the color on this laptop is far beyond better than other OLED monitor that I’ve seen, how vibrant the screen looks fantastic during browsing and in game. Playing the new 077 First Light on running medium setting using Nvidia optimize setting with DLSS quality activated i get about 45 fps. The game also supports HDR so I made sure I tested that, 007 HDR brightness cap at 250 on this laptop but overall highlights during games you can clearly tell its on HDR. Using DLSS frame gen X2 on single player games boost the framerate from 50 to 75 with picture quality not getting affected that much, dont ever use framegen x6 its gonna be a mess when moving around the world I wouldnt rely on that with a RTX 5060 mobile GPU. The Omen gaming would automatically switch to performance mode when playing games, I would highly suggest to plug the power cord to get the proper power it needs when it comes to gaming and if you want to take advantage of 165Hz. I played Battlefield 6 with settings mostly on high which was pulling 78-85 Fps in game, The Finals with settings medium and high will get you 95 - 120fps. Omen Gaming Hub also offer settings AI setting to improve performance its almost like their own simple over clocking but I dont really use those. you can also track your CPU and GPU performance using the Omen Gaming Hub. while gaming CPU temp shows 177F and GPU at 159F so when it comes to fan noise its pretty much a standard noise like most gaming laptop have, specially during performance mode. CONCLUSION: I think HyperX Omen 16 is a great laptop, I love the weight of this monitor and having a 2.5 K resolution it definitely helps with clarity and having it oh that screen you have the most beautiful looking colors. HDR is also amazing to have on the laptop. One thing I didn’t mention earlier were the speakers I thought the speaker was decent nothing too special or to go home about, but it’s definitely worth using hyper. X also mention for this laptop to have the ability to easily sync with other hyper, X accessories, a keyboards and headset and mice. I love the power plug location, it’s in the back of the monitor so no wiring that can get in the way from left or right for the price. I wish it does offer a one terabyte of memory right away but beyond that I would say catch this laptop on sale, but I think is definitely worth checking out if you’re wanting to own a gaming laptop don’t expect to reach 165 Hz on this laptop on most games you would only be able to see those if you’re playing counterstrike or VALORANT anything that’s not GPU heavy game or a CPU heavy game you should be able to reach 165 Hz but when it comes to modern gaming like a single player game you would probably get around 40 FPS, which would require you to use some DLSS framegen to help and improve some of that framer. Overall, I can’t wait to see what hyper X got next. I think this is a solid laptop to have and so far I’m loving it.

First off, I would like to thank HP and the Tech Insider Network for giving me the opportunity to review the 2026 HyperX OMEN 16. I also want to begin by saying that I have not been the biggest gamer lately, mainly because work and life have kept me pretty busy. However, I still enjoy gaming when I have the time, and I regularly use my computer for video editing, browsing and content creation. Because of that, I approached this review more as an everyday consumer looking for one powerful and versatile laptop. The OMEN 16 has a clean, modern design that looks like a gaming laptop without going overboard. One of my favorite design choices is having the HDMI, Ethernet and power ports along the back. It keeps the larger cables out of the way and makes the entire desk setup look cleaner. The OLED display is easily one of the highlights. Colors are vibrant, black levels are deep and lighting effects look especially impressive. It also has a 165Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling, motion and gameplay feel very smooth. The keyboard backlight is customizable through the OMEN Gaming Hub. It was not automatically turned on when I first started using the laptop, but I selected the Color Cycle animation, which looks cool without being too bright or distracting. The Gaming Hub also lets you choose between Integrated, Hybrid and Discrete GPU modes. Integrated mode prioritizes battery life, Hybrid balances efficiency and performance, and Discrete mode is designed for gaming and other graphics-heavy applications. I like having those options, but this is also where the laptop felt less ready out of the box than I expected. Getting the best experience may require adjusting the GPU mode, Windows display settings and the graphics settings inside each game. For everyday performance, the OMEN 16 has been excellent. Video editing program both run smoothly, even while I having a few other apps open. Streets of Rage 4 also ran without any issues. For a more demanding test, I played The Avengers at 1440p directly on the laptop. After some adjustments in the AMD and game settings, it ran at around 48 frames per second without flickering. The laptop handled the particle effects, shadows, ambient lighting and bright highlights very well. The OLED screen really helped those effects stand out. I also connected the laptop to my 4K gaming monitor using a USB-C display adapter, and the game continued to look excellent with many of the same visual settings. That gave me confidence that this laptop can handle more demanding games, although some tinkering may be necessary to get the balance you want between performance and picture quality. Battery life has been the biggest disappointment. During one unplugged session, the battery dropped from 100% to 73% in less than 30 minutes while I had video editing software, a few browsers, File Explorer and the Windows display settings open. The active graphics mode may have contributed to that, but the drain was still surprising. I would plan on keeping the charger nearby when gaming or editing video. The FHD webcam is fine for basic video calls, but it is not one of the stronger features. It struggled in a darker room, and even after turning on the main light, the picture looked brighter without looking especially sharp. I appreciated that the OMEN Gaming Hub included a trial of Game Pass. However, I did not like the ad banners inside the app. On a premium laptop, I would prefer a cleaner software experience with fewer sales pitches. Overall, the HyperX OMEN 16 is a strong option for someone looking for a gaming laptop that can also handle schoolwork, browsing, video editing and content creation. The OLED display, strong performance, rear port placement and graphics controls are major strengths. The battery life, promotional software and required setup keep it from feeling completely polished, but once configured, it is a powerful and versatile machine. 4/5

Great laptop with a beautiful OLED screen. I'm a pretty casual gamer, but haven't had an issue with any games I've tried running. Games like Ready or Not and Arc Raiders run very smooth. E-Sports titles easily hit 160-200 framerates. The OMEN software can be a little buggy, but not as bad as Acer's or Asus.

Laptop. This is a gaming laptop and creative production powerhouse. The build quality of this computer is good. It appears to be mostly plastic. At this price point, I would have preferred more metal, but I am guessing that may be impractical for thermal management. This laptop is really beefy at almost 6 pounds. There are huge fans so while I’m not worried as much about overheating, I would be more concerned about how hot it would get actually trying to play with it on my lap. There is a huge grate on the bottom so it may be challenging to actually use on a lap without blocking it. One thing to note about the design is that the laptop includes self cleaning fans. In theory, this is an awesome feature as cleaning laptop fans can be annoying. In practice, I was unable to test this, so only time will tell if this works as intended. The laptop keyboard has a good tactile feel to it. According to HyperX it has an 8000hz polling rate and in my testing it felt very responsive. The keyboard includes a number pad, I am sure this is great for certain games but I think my personal preference based on the type of gaming I do is to have larger keys and not have a number pad included. The screen on this laptop is great. It has a 2560 x 1600 resolution and 165hz refresh rate, which the graphics card can take full advantage of. It’s almost 16 inches diagonal which is more than enough for a laptop. The best part about the screen is that it’s OLED, which creates an excellent contrast. The connectivity on this laptop is great. It has a USB C port, multiple USB A ports with >=5gpbs throughput, a dedicated Ethernet port, a dedicated headphone jack, and HDMI 2.1. I love the design choice to put the ports on the back of the laptop, it makes it feel like a built in dock. Some other features. The camera is pretty standard, but one nice inclusion is an IR camera so you can use Windows hello. I used the speakers during a video call and I couldn’t get them as loud as I wanted to hear the person I was speaking with over a fan in the room. One other thing to note, the laptop includes overclocking software. Generally I do not like anything installed by a manufacturer, but i feel like this is a useful tool. The performance does not disappoint. The highlights here are the processor and graphics. The processor is a AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX, which has 8 cores/16 threads. For gaming, it probably provides more headroom than I need, but it also supports high performance for creative uses as well (video editing, 3d rendering). The graphics card is a 5060. It is great that you get NVIDIA’s awesome AI technology like DLSS and frame generation to squeeze out extra performance. This processor and graphics card has been able to run whatever I throw at it. From a performance perspective, my main gripe is the memory. It only includes 16gb, which is often sufficient but not always enough depending on what I’m doing. Thankfully, while I didn’t open the case, I did see online that omen laptops often have replaceable RAM, so hopefully once prices come down it will be an easy upgrade. I feel similarly about the amount of included storage (512gb), but it’s easily expanded an external solution. Overall, I think this is a great laptop for gaming and a creative workstation powerhouse.

Right out of the box, I could see that this laptop was a bit heavier and thicker than I had imagined (5.5 lbs) – technically portable, but maybe more inconveniently portable than any other laptop I have ever owned. And with it came a massive 280 watt charger that is larger than any laptop charger I have ever owned. The laptop can also be charged through a sufficiently strong USB-C source, but I don’t own anything nearly powerful enough to use (I’m guessing most people don’t). A few annoying observations right off the bat: turning the laptop on and waking up the laptop are both incredibly slow (like….did I actually press a key to wake it up?), it does warm up a bit even with pedestrian use, and it seems to be erratic when trying to connect to my home wifi on startup. This laptop is the first device I have ever owned with an OLED display and the difference across all applications is astonishing. This richness of the blacks and the vibrancy of colors make everything seem immersive. Paired with a 165Hz refresh rate, there is a visual fluidity that I have never experienced in a laptop before – it is, by far, the most responsive system I have ever owned. Everything controlled by mouse/cursor movement, from dragging windows to scrolling web pages to tracking targets in fast-moving games, proceeds smoothly without lag. Absolutely beautiful! Also worth noting that the speakers on the front of the laptop give exceptionally clear and full sound – though at top volume, I wish they were a little bit louder. But the placement gives me the impression that the sound is coming directly from the screen itself and the separation of left/right channels is truly impressive. The true separation of channels makes placement of sound in important things like movies and well-designed games captivating in a way I have never experienced in a machine on its own. Alas, however stunning the display and responsiveness are, that comes at the expense of battery life. With simple tasks, I’m getting around 4 hours and 15 minutes per full charge – for more taxing tasks and fast-moving games, I get to power save mode in less than 4 hours. As such, this laptop doesn’t strike me as a real portable system unless you always have your massive charger with you. One more gripe. The keyboard on this laptop comes with a numeric keypad on the right. And while that might seem like a bonus, to me it means that the letter keyboard is shifted off to the left. For someone like me who still types with two hands it means that my hands are not centered with respect to the screen and I am constantly going to the wrong keys. That wouldn’t be a problem with an external keyboard that separates you from what you are viewing – but here you are always conscious of your hand placement relative to what you are controlling onscreen. Worth mentioning that RAM (16 GB) and storage (512 GB) are upgradeable but I’m not sure if that works as a selling point. HP always floods the market with similar machines with different processors, different RAM amounts, and different hard drive sizes and I would think that most users would choose to purchase their desired configuration from the start. I have never had a laptop for a few years and then suddenly decided that I should double the RAM. Just me? While the main two pitfalls – weight and battery life – are annoying, I’m not sure that they are necessarily avoidable in a laptop with this configuration (OLED, processor, video card). Meaning I don’t think this HP would be noticeably heavier with shorter battery life than other manufacturers. So I don’t think I can hold the pitfalls against this machine. Pitfalls accepted and aside, this is the most thrillingly beautiful laptop I have ever seen or used. I still find myself pausing a game or a movie to just stare at the screen and marvel at the image. It is literally and figuratively a game changer. So I would enthusiastically recommend this this as a solid machine. My nit-picking is for your awareness and, ultimately, I think the whole is greater than the sum of the negative parts.

On my very scientific scale of Good, Better, Best, this laptop falls on the high end of Better. Let’s dig into the why this laptop deserves a second look. In several areas the laptop performs better than the spec sheet alone suggest it should. HP offers a number of configuration options for this laptop. The one I have ships with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD. The drive itself is fast; the problem is capacity. Modern game install routinely eat up huge chunks of storage and 512GB feels undersized for a gaming laptop. Focused on performance though, this laptop beat out a number of more expensive systems. This matters more in daily responsiveness than a spec-sheet shopper might realize. If we go back to my scientific measurements, the 16” OLED display fall into a range just short of the Best. OLEDs pop and look fantastic the darker the room is. OLED’s excel and black level and contrast so dark scenes look genuinely black instead of washed out or grey. In the daylight or what I would call normal office lighting, the screen could use an additional layer of anti-reflective coating as I found myself looking at myself more than the content of the screen. I suspect most gamers keep their lights dimmed, and when the lights go off the display is fantastic and at 16” you’ve got lots of space to get lost in the content. The laptop weighs just over five pounds. Add the large power brick and this system is not something you want to carry back and forth from day to day. I love that HP places the ethernet port and HDMI 2.1 port on the rear of the unit so these cables do not get in the way when they are connected. It is disappointing that the ethernet adapter is a 1Gbps adapter and not 2.5 Gbps, 5Gpbs, or even 10Gbps ethernet. There is also support for 6Ghz Wifi 7. After removing the bottom cover to perform a RAM upgrade, it became obvious where a majority of of the weight comes from. HP packed in a dual-fan cooling system, a large heat-pipe and vent assembly and a sizable battery. When it comes to upgradability you are limited to changing out the storage and the RAM. The motherboard contains a single NVME slot for storage which is disappointing considering the price of storage these days. There are dual DDR5 memory slots. Both the NVME and the RAM slots are easy to access and work with, once you get the cover preyed open which was not a simple task. This build shipped with 16GB of DDR 5 RAM as a single DIMM. I upgraded to 32GB of DDR 5 RAM. HP paired a strong Risen 7 HX-class CPU with a midrange RTX 5060 laptop GPU which is something I appreciate in a build like this. The GPU is not trying to compete with the RTX 4080 or the RTX 5070-class systems, but the CPU, SSD, and OLED display make the laptop feel more premium than the GPU tier alone suggests. I was disappointed the the built-in web camera does not support Windows Hello which means logging into Windows via face or fingerprint are not available on this model.

We were shopping for a gaming laptop for our daughter, and I recognized the OMEN brand so we grabbed this up for her. It checked a lot of the boxes, but also has some trade-offs. For most light gaming, this thing will be plenty, however I also tested it against some of the beefier games in my Steam library and was not really surprised by the results. First off - out of the box, this thing is a big beefy boy. I've had several gaming laptops in the past, but this thing is by far the largest and heaviest. The screen is a big, beautiful 16" OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate. That means that most games will display beautifully and smooth as butter. The OLED ensures you get true, deep blacks and the 2K display provides a ton of detail and image depth. The very first thing I had to do after getting it setup, was add an additional NVME drive. By default, the OMEN comes with a 512GB M.2 2280 stick. There's also an additional NVME slot that will fit a M.2 2230 stick. I ended up adding a 1TB stick so that the main OS runs off the 512GB drive, and the games and data is stored on the 1TB drive. This provided plenty of space for Steam games that have a larger install size, like Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. Playing anything like Dark Souls 3, Batman Arkham Knight, or Devil May Cry 5 were all great, and played very smoothly. Where I ran into some performance tweaks were when I fired up Elden Ring: Shadow of Eritrea, Doom: The Dark Ages, or Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. I think this is largely because of the available VRAM and 16GB system RAM. I didn't look for the RAM when I added the additional storage, but according to HP's website, it is user upgradable and not soldered on. Maybe when RAM doesn't cost and arm and a leg, I'll consider upgrading the RAM to something more like 24 or 32GB. I also appreciate how the majority of the ports are on the back of the machine, so the power, HDMI, and network cables all connect towards the back of the unit instead of sticking out of the side. That makes it perfect for sitting on a table top, without a ton of cables sticking out of the sides while you're trying to play. Overall, I'm happy with this thing and so is my daughter. She doesn't play as demanding of titles as I do, but she also likes Vampire Survivors, and if you've played that, and you're good, you know that can cause a lot of frame drops.

This laptop is a surprisingly capable mobile gaming platform. Responsiveness and smoothness in the monitor a a core gaming requirement, and can be a weak point when taking games mobile. This screen is crisp and elegant entered everything I didn't observe any flickering, off tracing or other display hiccups. The processing is high powered and handles the latest games and heavy duty processing - I ran some manufacturing some high load simulations through it in addition to games and it handles everything on par with most of this generation's desktops - the AMD Ryzen 7 is a great CPU. With the Nvidia GPU, Ryzen CPU, high performance screen and capable memory heat dissipation is a concern, but I found the mechanical venting built into the case to be good for airflow with a gap underneath when setup on a desk or table, I don't think you would literally want this to be on your lap, but setup on a table with your gaming keyboard and mouse it won't overheat, the fan was a little loud but there are enough ports to use a hardwired headset, keyboard and mouse, which you would want for most dedicated gaming moments, even when traveling. The keyboard was responsive and feels nice under your fingers - not as tactile as true mechanical keys but solid enough for day to day use without being akward. All in all this is a great personal laptop that can cover it all, including most games Keyboard: Well laid out not too large not too small. I found that my fingers were landing exactly where they needed to be even though I was worried that the keyboard might be too condensed compared to a standard desktop rig. It was actually quite ergonomically well-spaced, including the integrated number and directional pad. I really liked the mechanical feel. My regular gaming computer has stiff claymore mechanical keyboard, which sometimes can be a little bit much and quite noisy. This is a good balance between a standard keyboard and a very clicky gaming keyboard. I also really like the fact that it had smooth back lighting and separated the sections for standard keys and hot keys visually. Ports: Only one USB-C, which was originally a worry, but ended up okay because there is high speed USB left, right, and rear as well as HDMI and a hardwired land port in the rear, as well as dedicated power out the back, which makes it very straightforward to dock and use peripherals without overwhelming amount of cables, Processing: Again, I didn’t have any issues with processing, it handled everything I could throw at it (see above). I compared it head-to-head with my desktop rig with the same AMD Ryzen 7 processor (and more RAM) with similar Nvidia chip however, this Nvidia chip is newer and it really demonstrated that. I am thinking now about getting an updated Nvidia chip for my desktop rig because I was delightfully impressed with how well it handled, especially in a laptop form factor. Cooling: Ergonomic and elegant design with the airflow and the natural lift and gap underneath. I’m overly familiar with many of the gaming laptops, but it seemed very well designed in terms of airflow. It obviously will function best on a rigid surface without anything blocking the inlet. As one would expect, the fan coming on was slightly louder than your average laptop, but nowhere near as noisy as my desktop. I think during gaming it really wouldn’t even be very noticeable. It is slightly louder versus your standard laptop that isn’t really designed for gaming. I didn’t get a chance to push it to its hard limits to see how well the cooling did, but it did not have an issue with anything that I threw out in terms of rendering your graphics Overall aesthetic: Surprisingly impressed with the sleek and aggressive look of it. Great hinge, elegant screen without too much trim. Very tight and well-designed keyboard, clean and aggressive, but not overly “try hard” like most gaming laptops. Probably one of the better looking gaming laptops that I’ve seen.

This a beautiful gaming machine. To start off, it’s heavy, at least as laptop computers go. It feels solid, and it looks great. While the screen is not overly large as laptop gaming computers go, it feels large. Setup was the usual Windows 11 experience where you are taken through a series of questions about keyboard layouts and that sort of thing, logging into a network, connecting to your Microsoft account (or creating one if you don’t have one), downloading any latest updates, and finally arriving at a Windows desktop perhaps a half-hour after first powering on the machine. In my case, I then head straight to the Windows Update section in Settings and have it download and install any additional updates, of which there are usually a goodly number. These updates would get downloaded and installed in time even if one does nothing, but I like to start with as fresh and up-to-date a Windows installation as possible. In use, the machine is lightning fast. The graphics are spectacular, which is what you expect of a computer designed for gaming. Images are sharp and vivid. Action scenes show no problems with latency or anything else. The computer is reasonably-well equipped as far as connectivity. Along the left side as you face the screen are a headphone jack, a USB-2 port, and a USB-C port. On the back are another USB-2 port, an HDMI port, an ethernet port, and the power supply connection. On the right side is yet a third USB-2 port, and that is the only connection available on the right side. Overall, expect many hours of gaming pleasure.
