Clear voice and well built.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really nice USB mic. Came with a type C USB cable. The mic itself has heft to it and can sit just over a gaming table (its how I have it) and has a soft bottom and doesn't slip away. It does support a 3/8 and 5/8 thread size at the bottom so it can be mounted on a mic arm (per their leaflet quick guide, better with the top facing down), but its not needed. The mic itself can tilt a bit so you can tweak the angle of how it you speak to it. Its super easy to use, just plug and play and will show as a USB mic on windows (and does Hi-Res audio 24 bit 96khz), however if you install Hyperx's Ngenuity software (they have two versions, the standard and the beta, this one uses their beta one) you can unlock more features like filters and compressors. Its super easy to use and I love the feature to just tap the top to mute it, no pressing any buttons or flipping any mics, simple as that. There is a red status light at front that glows red when working and off when the mic is muted. I was using the mic on my headset (those flip up to mute types) and I though it was good, boy, how wrong was I. After listening to recordings using these one, the upgrade in voice clarity is noticeable. My friends on discord also could tell the difference. I did not tell them I was using this mic, and they were saying "noo there is something different, I can hear you way clearer and natural", I finally told them I got this mic, then it made sense to them. I think they are going to upgrade too, I recommended them this guy, for the price, it is a significant upgrade over those little mic capsules included on gaming headsets!

a "One Buy and Use" at a Great Price!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: Moderately priced, great quality, USB-C wired microphone for gaming, casting, video meetings, VOIP calls, or recording use. Ready to use with Windows. The free HyperX NGENUITY app allows customizing your sound qualities. The mic has built in pop and vibration elimination. Cardioid pattern, tap to mute, red live LED indicator. Tilt adjustment. It is very easy to use, position and even mount on a boom arm since it has the standard ⅜ ” or ⅝” threads both built-in on the bottom for that purpose. When used on a desk flat surface it is easy to adjust as delivered (no stand needed) so that the cardioid pattern is right on target with your spoken word. There are no other parts needed since it also arrives with the USB-C cable for immediate use. Reading from the manufacturer web site, I learned it has a built-in shock mount, as well as an internal pop filter. This is ideal in that it does not have to be mounted inside a shock mount nor does a pop filter need to be procured and installed in front of the mic. It is compact and will fit on the most cramped work surface; 4 inches high and weighs a lightweight 13 ounces. The price is ideal in that so many similar quality microphones easily are priced at several times the small price this HyperX SoloCast 2 unit will cost. The manufacturer includes a 2 year warranty. By the way, HyperX is now a division of HP which makes computers and gaming computers for years. The free download NGENUITY app will allow customizing the high and Low pass voice enhancement filter, and all the settings chosen will be saved to the microphone. I created a deeper voice for myself using this app; I recorded myself and listened at the changes with and without the Ngenuity app. In use, everyone who has heard me on a zoom or Voice call says I sound clear and precise; I hear the recordings I have produced and they sound very clear. In gaming use I am proud that I sound clear and custom filtered using the NGENUITY app to tailor my voice qualities as I wish. It is a solid product. If you are in the hunt for a good quality gaming mic or a mic to use for work from home this is one that you should consider. It is a “One Buy and Use” device ready for you; highly recommended.

Nice desk microphone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I like about this microphone is the USBC cable. Many of my previous microphones are using the old micro USB cables. This one comes with USB-A to USBC cable. It is a good length at about 6 feet long. This microphone is a nice size and lightweight. It is cardioid microphone meaning it will pick up sound directly in front while filtering out sound on the side or behind it. This is good if you are the only one using it. But for interviews where someone is sitting in front of you and you are using one microphone, this will not do a good job. There is a mute button, well not a physical button, on top. It is touch capacity but no vibrating feedback. It’s kind of weird at first but it’s fine. You can tilt it. The quality is good. I first set it on the desk and did some tests. If you put it next the keyboard and tilt it towards your face, the keyboard typing will get picked up. My face is about 20” away from the microphone. Recording is okay. You may want to get closer. I would say not farther than a foot away from the microphone. I did some light tapping on the desk. I noticed some Youtube videos with people setting their microphones on the desk and recording, not realizing that any noises agains the desk will get recorded. This also happens on the microphone. It’s supposed to have an internal shock mount but I don’t think that helps much with the tests I have done. What I would recommend is a microphone stand that mounds on your desk. That way it’s away from the keyboard and prevents from picking desk pounding and vibrations. It has 3/8 and 5/8 thread on the bottom of the microphone. It also has a built-in pop filter. I tested it and it did not do too well. I would get a separate pop filter. They’re not that expensive and improves recording quality. I would say this is a nice upgrade if you’re using a headset or built-in microphone on a laptop. The size is great for small desks. The recording quality is nice. Just try out different distance, use a desk mic stand, and pop filter.

Great value and superb quality! Great podcast mic!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For background info, I collect microphones, and have close to 50 grand or even more into my collection. So when I was offered the opportunity to test the HyperX - SoloCast 2 Wired Cardioid USB-C Condenser Gaming Microphone - Black and review it, i was immediately interested. Considering that some of my microphones cost almost 4 grand each, I didn't really have super high expectations. However I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality the SoloCast 2 has. It's a 14mm condenser microphone in a cardioid pattern, with an included simple software suite for fine tuning the sound to suit your personal preference. The audio quality from the microphone itself is actually very high. It has a solid response, that isn't to bright, nor is it to muddy. This would be a great microphone to use as a pod cast, or spoken word/voice overs. As it is out of the box it is a bit warm, but with a slight high pass filter it's very pleasing to listen to. I downloaded and played around with the included free software and found that most of the settings didn't make enough of a noticeable difference to even bother with. I did however like the high pass filter setting. The build quality is way above the price point, very solid. The mic has a built in suspension for shock absorption, but I didn't find it to really do that much for dampening handling noises or bumps to my desk etc. The built in pop filter worked well enough as I was using the mic from about 1.5 feet away from my mouth sitting on my desk. The included mic stand mount built into the base is a really slick touch also. This mic is actually very good, and especially at this price. I could easily see this mic selling for twice the current asking price.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HyperX SoloCast 2 USB is a new and improved microphone (made by HP). It uses (optional) HyperX NGENUITY app which allows for customization of gain, equalization and filters (high-pass, low-pass, and AI noise reduction). I installed the latest beta version of the NGENUITY software and encountered no problems (after a reboot). Their software required new audio drives to be installed (It's my understanding the Microphone works fine the default w/Windows 11 drivers). The HyperX driver allows their software to handle multiple filtering methods (including AI). From my initial tests it delivers clear quite detailed audio with a most natural tone. It has a cardioid pickup pattern that allows the voice to be isolated to minimize background noise. It has a very convenient mute function where you simply tap on the top of the microphone to mute/unmute the microphone. This also turns on/off the red LED indicator when it is muted. It includes 3/8" & 5/8" inch threading to use it with a boom arm/stand. It has a compact, space-saving design which features a built-in shock mount and pop filter to reduce unwanted noise. For its price it delivers very crisp audio. I was using a 'certain color' microphone on my PC and this HyperX SoloCast is superior in many ways. I used it with my Mac Mini and it worked well (the NGENUITY software is not available for the Mac (yet?)) and was automatically recognised. I also used a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect this mic to my iPhone and it worked perfectly, with much higher quality sound than the iPhone's internal mic; so you can use the SoloCast 2 for a podcast/video from your iPhone. The mic sounds best if you are fairly close to it, as you move further away it loses definition (as all mics do). If you're within 2-3 feet of the mic the sound quality is excellent. I did find that the NGENUITY software does not "remember" what settings were set last when the application is started/stopped (notable, but a minor issue). This is not the best studio mic you can buy, but it provides a huge step up from a stock microphone and is probably better than any $100 dollar microphone I've tried/used.

Premium Feel Budget Price and Great Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first held this small box, I could immediately tell it was a quality product. This SoloCast 2 mic, though slim, has a noticeable weight that gives it a premium feel. The unboxing process was simple, just pull the top tab, slide out the mic, and it’s ready to go. The microphone itself feels solid and well-built, featuring a sturdy base that keeps it firmly in place. It can be tilted for convenience, and the touch-sensitive top surface allows you to easily mute or unmute with a tap. While the mic is compatible with HyperX NGENUITY software, setup is practically effortless, just plug and play using the included USB-A to USB-C cable. At the time of this review, the mic wasn’t yet supported by the HyperX software, but Windows instantly recognized it without needing to install any drivers. For the price, the sound quality is impressive. I tested it with background music, and although it lacks active noise cancellation, it still manages to reduce ambient noise and deliver clear voice output. Overall, this is an excellent budget microphone, sturdy, stylish, and great-sounding. It’s ideal for gamers, content creators, or anyone needing crisp audio for meetings. The box includes the microphone, USB cable, and quick start guide.

Clear Sounding With Many Audio Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP has released their HyperX SoloCast 2 gaming microphone. It is a good addition to their HyperX line of gaming accessories. Construction The SoloCast 2 has a heavy base with both 3/8 and 5/8 threaded connector on the bottom for connecting to a boom or microphone stand. The base is heave enough that it sits in place on my desk without me needing to connect it to a boom arm, but it’s good to know that mount is built-in so that I can if I want to in the future. The microphone’s housing is plastic, but it is heavy duty plastic. The microphone can tilt up/down so I was able to adjust it to an optimal angle. There is a USB-C connector on the back side of the microphone. I didn’t have any problems with the cable as the cable that comes with it is flexible and the base has enough weight to it that it doesn’t move. On top of the mic is a mute button. It’s easy for me to get to it and I found that I didn’t have to look down in order to mute the mic. Also, there is an LED light on the front that is red when the mic is unmuted and off when it is not. Other than that LED light, there isn’t any other lighting built-in to it. Ngenuity The mic uses the Ngenuity BETA software to update the firmware and to change settings for the mic. It supports High/Low pass filters, Gain, Presence Boost, Equalizer, AI Noice Reduction, a compressor, and a limiter. All of that allows for dialing in settings that work for me. I have the mic between my HyperX keyboard and my gaming laptop. My laptop sits on top of a laptop cooler. The raw audio from the mic picks up the fan noise from my gaming laptop as well as the laptop cooler. I was able to use the AI Noice Reduction to cut out all of that. I found it to help a lot and make it simple to cut out that fan noise. With it turned on, my voice was clear and other players in Battlefield 6 didn’t have any issues hearing me. Other Features The mic is a condenser microphone with a cardioid pattern. It supports 24-bit 96KHz recording. It is advertised as plug-n-play and it is. The Ngenuity software recognized the mic when I plugged it in, so I didn’t have to do anything other than let the software install the updated drivers and set the settings I wanted. It was simple and straight forward. Final Thoughts I like the microphone and the quality of it. I believe it sounds good with the settings I have set. The AI Noise Reduction feature in Ngenuity makes it really simple to cut out background noise. It would have been nice though if it had LED lighting for effects so I could match it up to my HyperX keyboard and it would have been good for a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter to be included with it. Overall, I’m impressed with the noise reduction and the EQ options that are options in the Ngenuity BETA software. This is a good gaming mic. If you are looking for a quality gaming mic, then consider the HP HyperX SoloCast 2 microphone.

Great microphone clarity and easy to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HyperX Solocast 2 is just what I've been looking for as I start out on my content creator endeavor. I like its small, compact design and understated appearance. The microphone is easy to set up and use right out of the package. I have been using this for gaming, video creation, and podcast-style content, and I've been pleased with the quality of my audio tone. My voice sounds natural when using the microphone and the voice sounds more focused as it minimizes the background noise in my environment. My voice audio with this Solocast 2 sounds clear, crisp, and audible. This features a built in shock mount, internal pop filter and a convenient tiltable stand. I like the ability to mount this microphone to a compatible mic arm because it offers both 3/8" and 5/8"threads for mounting. The 14mm condenser capsule gives you studio quality recording, along with 24 bit recording and 96kHz sampling rates. There is an available HyperX NGENUITY software download that will allow for more customization of voice and sound. This will allow for high pass, low pass, or voice enhancement filters which can reduce rumble or give me a more consisitent voice clarity through my speaking portions. The top of the microphone offers a tap to mute option that will show a red LED when you're live on a hot mic, and the lights turn off when the mic is muted. Easy to use setup for plug and play setups because of it's easy USB-C to USB-A connection. Included in the box is the HyperX Solocast 2, the easy to follow quick start guide instructions, and the USB cable.

A good, inexpensive mic

Sounds great with great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design and build quality of this microphone is top notch. The mic housing feels sturdy and, the built in stand is a nice touch. It does still include a threaded socket on the bottom if I wanted to mount it to a boom arm. Inside of the microphone, there’s an internal pop filter and shock mount which add to the sound quality this microphone can produce. There are a number of great features on this microphone. My favorite being that it connects via USB C. It’s super convenient not only to connect to my PC, but I was able to connect it to my iPhone 16 Pro Max which makes it a great option for mobile recording. Likewise, setup was a breeze. For all devices I tested this with, it was plug and play with no other effort needed. I was able to use it with recording software as well as chatting software (like discord, zoom, etc.) Another great feature is the tap to mute functionality and the LED indicator to show when mute is on. The sound quality of this microphone is great. I tried it in a number of different scenarios. Obviously this thing will be tuned for gaming purposes as that’s the intention of the mic, but just for additional analysis/information I also used it to record music. My main takeaway is that this thing is great for capturing sound in a natural and crisp way while putting a focus on dialogue. In my testing, the main voice being recorded was isolating in a way that made it really easy for others to be able to hear and understand me. Overall, this is a great microphone I would recommend to anyone trying to upgrade to a condenser mic.

A perfect streaming Mic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice compact USB-C Microphone with an in built stand making it compact and about an adult hand high. Makes it a great travel microphone and fits in easy to a bag. The Base also can fit on a Microphone arm no issues. Its also a simple plug and play, just plug into a USB port and your are on your way. I like the fact they kept the tap on top to mute, making it easy to mute and the red light on the front stands out which is bright enough to let you know when the Mic is on or not. I like the indicator myself and button on the top responds easily which is awesome. They do have an application and driver if you want to improve performance and customize it. You will need to install the Beta application though for the SoloCast 2. It allows input Equalizer, compressor and limter and some other features to tune the audio of the microphone which is nice as well as the drivers to make sure you get the best performance from it. The sound was clear from the microphone and everyone could understand me, and I really did enjoy the compact nature making it easy to move around with a good base in a compact form. If you need a microphone for gaming and don't want to use headphone mics this is a great option.

Sounds great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price point, this mic sounds great. However, I am giving this a 4 star. My first reason for this is that although it sounds great, when on desk or on mic arm, it still picks up the clicks from my keyboard or if I bump my desk. The software is basic and not a whole lot to it at the moment. I would like to have seen some built in options that would change your voice, as well as options to change the color of the LED light on the mic. Speaking about the LED light on the mic. I am used to red being that the mic is muted and then white or some other color indicating that the mic is on. Some may like the red for letting you know the mic is on. But for me, I would prefer the red to show that it is muted. But regardless, I would have liked that option to be left up to me. When the mic is muted, there is no color at all. Again, this would have been a great option within the settings to be able to set the mic up how you would prefer. It also lacks any controls on the mic itself. It would have been nice to have a knob to adjust the gain for the mic. Lastly and a small one but still, this mic does not have a headphone jack. I am used to other mics that I can plug in a headset and customize the mic how I want. The good, I do like how it has its own base stand built in. This design is more compact than other microphones I have. I like how this looks. I like the easy touch to mute. And for the price range, I feel the sound quality you get with this mic as you speak is pretty good. Had a couple compliments on how I sounded. I like how the stand is built into the mic with having a built-in thread so you can easily transition between a mic arm or just have it on the desk. My other mics that I have, you have to unscrew from the stand if you want to mount onto a mic boom. This you do not. I think this is the best mic I have used for sound and at this price range. If you are just getting into streaming, this is a great option to start out with. You can use a headset mic to talk with your buddies, (like on discord) and then use this mic to talk to your viewers. I find using this kind of set up allows me easily to go back and forth. If I want to say something to friends and not have chat hear, this mic is easy to mute. If I want to talk to chat and not friends, I use push to talk for friends, so I just don't push my button for push to talk.

Best budget mic out there
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are one of the most versatile, popular USB mics out. Its very portable and the footprint it leaves is very small. The best part is that it's affordable. The microphone has everything you need to start podcasting or using it for what you need. It has a built in pop filter and shock mount which helps reduce those unwanted noises when you're using the microphone. One of the features I like is the mute button. You never know when you need to use that button until you have to use it. The build quality is pretty good and the design looks professional and sleek. The base can be tilted as well. Out of the box, it functions well already. It's pretty plug and play. It does come with a companion app from HyperX so you can customize it further and tweak specific settings to your liking. The mic does have on board memory so you don't have to keep changing your settings if you use it on multiple devices. Overall, I find this a great buy for a budget microphone. It's much better than what you'll get from those built in mics in headphones.
