Nihilism at its best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Travis Bickle has nothing on The Butcher. This movie is obviously influenced by Taxi Driver, but Gaspar Noe (who went on to direct Irreversible and Enter the Void, great cinema in their own right) takes his central anti-hero to a further extreme. The Butcher (played miserably spot-on by Philipe Nahon) endlessly walks down desolate Parisian streets as you hear his relentless inner dialog damning every aspect of life. A man who has lost everything at his own hands tries to find solace in the one who came from his own blood... and he manages to taint even that. NOT for the easily (or even moderately) offended.
