I purchased this camera regardless of the not so good reviews because figured cameras worked differently with different people. Camera looks cool but photo quality isn't good, with flash, pictures come out dark and without flash they come out very faded. Wouldn't recommend especially because of price figured it was a good camera. Don't waste your money.

The I-1 has a lot going for it - style, technology, modern film options, and custom accessories. Compared to the millions of classic Polaroid cameras available you don't have to compensate for the faster speed Impossible films which is huge. Additionally you can use the less expensive I-Type films which not only save you money but also cut down on battery waste. Speaking of batteries...
The rechargeable battery is a double-edged sword. On the one hand it's nice saving up to $5 per pack of film and not disposing of so many batteries. On the other hand you have to plan ahead in a way most Polaroid users aren't used to. I know this is something people like to pound on, but as an Instax neo 90 owner, and frequent laptop and smartphone user I really don't have a problem with having to charge my camera before use. In my experience battery life in-use is perfectly acceptable and matches their estimates pretty closely.
Paired with the Impossible smartphone app the camera is capable of many modern features and is really what gives the I-1 so much of its value. Used in fully automatic mode the focus is accurate to DEAD CENTER of the frame, and the camera naturally tends to underexpose. These are both easy to adapt to - focus on center then recompose your image, and use the +/- slider to adjust exposure. Voila.
I was skeptical about this camera but after a month I'm really pumped to have it in my bag. It does have a slight learning curve, but so do other cameras. Read the manual, watch a couple YouTube videos, and any user should be ready to go.
