not a movie I would normally go for but I wanted to check out dolby atmos surround sound so I thought why not. I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. It was very interesting and I did not find it slow or boring. Some of the graphics where not the best but over all a decent movie.

The framing sequence with Herman Melville is rather lame, but if you are at all interested in the time period, the whaling industry, or Moby-Dick this film is a must see. A film like this would have been absolutely impossible in the days before computer graphics. I will watch it again.

I always wanted to see this story about the real Moby Dick and its a real story about real life and real people and on my samsung 4k uhd player it upscales this 3D disc to almost 4k quality and in 3D best of both worlds if your trying to decided between the 3D and 4K UHD version then you must have the only 4k bluray the samsung i have get the 3d then you can have both.

Though it wasn't an epic, the fish story had my attention from the very start. The no-name supporting cast made this flick better than expected Having the actors speaking less of the characters they were portraying made this story more believable Definitely worth the price

Moby Dick is a good but boring book. The writer of this movie wrote about the author's true story that lead to the fictional Moby Dick. This allowed the direction of a exciting and action packed movie. The actors were picked to play the right roles. Overall it's a good movies.

The story should be familiar to all. The movie has some exciting action on the sea, sets and special effects were quite good. However, the movie was quite slow during the second half. I prefer the 2-part mini series Moby Dick w/ William Hurt and Ethan Hawke from 2 years ago.

What a shame that director Ron Howard's period nautical epic never really found an audience. The film has a lot going for it, but unfortunately the studio never really knew how to market it (which also happened to Howard's Cinderella Man some years ago). Also a shame that so many people never got to see the film on a big screen as it was meant to be seen.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it. Then I found out "Moby Dick" was based on a true story and this is the true movie adaptation of it. This only peaked my interest more. I was glued to the film the whole time! Even my dad stayed awake to watch the whole thing. I look forward to watching it again and again, Love it!!

Not seeing this movie in the theater I had my doubt. It was brutal, unforgiving and merciless. Because of all that it did the movie justice. Normally long ocean voyage movies can drone on, but shear morbid curiosity keeps you wondering about the length of human limits.

The visuals are striking and beautifully filmed with quite authentic 19th century period details. Above all, narrative is compelling and draws the viewer into the story of these whale hunters and the trials they endure in search of that precious commodity - whale oil. Enjoy the 3D version. Ron Howard doesn't disappoint!

Interesting movie although it wallows in misery for a good amount of time. It has a strange sickly green look to it which almost makes the viewer feel sea sick at times. A very good 3 D conversion and a very immersive surround track. I only have 7.1 and not Atmos.

I don't know why this movie gets such a bad rap from the critics. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I don't think my brow is any lower than the next guy's. Slower paced than some, but sometimes that is appropriate. Very nice 3D. A friend saw this on TV, liked and recommended it. A thumb in the eye to those critics.

Have ou ever wondered what inspired Herman Melville to write Moby Dick? Here's the story. Inspired by actual events, In the Heart of the Sea is a fantastic, visually striking story. There is nothing negative I can say about this journey. Give it a shot.

I was quite surprised that this move was so good. It didn't seem to do well at the box office, so my expectations were low. It is a good story with very believable special effects. It was cool how they tied the story into reality. Worth watching.

The heart of the sea is exellent becuase you could see what people did to sea life to get oil. This is a good example of what did in the passed to whales. We get a chance to reflect what people did for money. Another reason this movie is good is becuase there is a lot of action and cool parts. There is a lot of detail in the movie.

I really liked this movie about the essex seems like an essential movie for any moby dick fan, as it was basically a prequel to moby dick, i wonder how much of a true account this actually was.

The movie tries to blame this disaster on an evil greedy corporate guy, No doubt it was a lot more complicated than that. Politics aside, this is a ripper of a disaster movie that leaves you with plenty to think about. Good job!

Beautiful cinematography and great sound track, terrific cast and a mind boggling WHALE, terrific job on historical sets (computer creations) but who can tell at this point.Lovely sailing vessels and an accurate portrayal of life on the high seas.

Interesting movie based upon the story that lead Melville to write Moby Dick. The movie has good action, a good story, is easy to follow and it was interesting. If you didn't like Moby Dick (book, movies, etc.) this may not be interesting to you. It's not the fastest movie nor the slowest but it does keep you interested.

A terrific true life story which led to the writing of Moby Dick by Herman Melville. terrifically directed by Ron Howard. Missed it on the big screen, but well worth a look on BluRay on your biggest TV. The whaling scenes are terrific.
