I’m a big fan of the tv show and love this classic film! Amazing how black people were treated in those days, so pathetic.... Sidney Poitier at his best! Call him MR TIBBS!

In “The Heat of the Night,” the two main characters, a Black Philadelphia Police Detective, and the small town Sheriff of Sparta, Mississippi struggle to understand each other’s social values as perceived through a different lens. The racial stereotypes and racial biases fuel the tensions between these two individuals, as they gradually learn to respect the humanity that exist between and within them.

Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger are the perfect complement/contrast in this movie which was timely, yet ahead of it's time. It honestly and openly attacks racism and still allows the characters to do what the viewer wants them to do ... catch the bad guy, no matter how much they disagree. It also has one of the greatest movie-lines of ALL time: "I have the motive, which is money, and the body, which is dead!"

This academy award-winning movie is both thoughtful and entertaining. It provides insights into the Civil Rights movement that had taken hold during the 1960's and should leave the viewer with feelings of understanding and optimism. The historical perspective is excellent and well worth watching by mature audiences.

This is a classic 60s movie. It won best picture which is why i checked it out and it's actually very entertaining and disturbingly relevant in today's world. Decent picture quality for a non-flashy blu-ray release.

We've been picking up bargain Blu-Rays waiting for 4K content and find that Best Buy has a great inventory, well organized and competitively priced. Sidney Poiter? Who else has this title?

An all time classic movie about race and the south. Sidney Poitier is fabulous as always. Decent HD picture but not the best. Does not detract from the enjoyment of the movie.

One of Sidney Poitier's greatest performances, complimented by an outstanding cast, including Rod Steiger, Warren Oates and Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead's Hershel).
