Sad. Happy. If you were to pause this movie at any point you could hang a copy of the image in the louvre.

The slow start and tight indoor places were a bit uncomfortable. Then the movie gradually appeared delicate almost poetic. Scenes and characters were unrealistic, yet romance can also be sub-real. Slow motion and soft music played a role in interpreting the mood, yet occasionally were exaggerated. The short dialog and silent pauses between the lovers were well-crafted and expressive.

So much ink has already been spilled over Wong Kar-Wai's masterpiece. I'm not sure there is much I can add without simply echoing all the admiring sentiments expressed over. It is all it said to be and much more. The Blu Ray transfer just makes the viewing experience much more pleasurable.

This Chinese movie has made the top 10 list of many movie critics, and after watching it, it's not hard to see why. Nearly everything was excellent. The acting, the script, the direction, the cinematography, and so on. It's like watching a painting in motion. I especially have to give props to the two lead actors, Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. Both are superb actors, although Maggie really stole the show. I love when actors can convey emotions and thoughts without any words spoken. Concerning the director, Wong Kar Wai, I really can't say any more good things about him. He is a master of romantic films.

Masterful presentation of romantic longing and fleeting moments that will evoke great memories if you have life experience in those particular subjects. Just a gorgeous, aching soundtrack. This Blu-ray version cleans up the audio and dialogue by restoring the LFE--which makes this purchase a worthy upgrade if you have prior versions of this masterpiece film. Everything works--Such a wonderful film!

In the Mood for Love captures the pain of unrequited love in a way no film I have ever seen has. less than a year after its release it became of The Criteron Collection. Only certain film are selected for this collection. The performances are excellent. Both of the actors portray more with their faces than with the words. Filmmaker Wong Kar-wai has made a film that will stand the test of time as one of the best films ever.

This is one of the best foreign romantic films I've ever seen. It's beautifully lit and shot, and the costumes are gorgeous. The consequences of adultery are lay bare in the film, and you can't help but empathize with the victims.
