I’ve been impressed with this masterpiece every since it was released just a few years ago and now to experience it in awesome 4K !! It’s just what you’d expect! Beautiful transfer and HDR picture quality! An excellent film to add to your collection especially if you’re using an OLED display!

    Worth an upgrade

    Posted .

I purchased this movie because I love it and, as with all Christopher Nolan movies, it's a native 4k vs an upscale. You can see this in the screenshot I added as it says Native 4K in the video section. I typically use this information when deciding to upgrade my movies to the 4k version as some upscale versions don't really look better than their 1080p counterparts.

    Inception - 4K Review

This review is based on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc - this was played on an LG OLED 65" C6P using an OPPO 203 Ultra HD Player. First off, I really do enjoy the movie, but I'll be using this space to focus on the 4K Upgrade. I have to say.. I was a little bit disappointed. Inception is a pretty recent film (2010) and after seeing how great Dunkirk and Dark Knight looked on 4K, I was really excited to see how this one looked! In some areas, there is a nice upgrade noticeable! Textures look really good, it's got a fine level of grain that isn't distracting.. but other shots seem to be soft.. lacking sharpness and detail. Many of the indoor scenes seem like a smaller upgrade from the 1080p while outdoor shots seem much better. Is it better than the Blu-Ray? Definitely. If you don't have either? Buy the 4K for sure. It's a great movie and the best the movie has looked on home video.. but ultimately, its just not the most impressive thing. It looks good in parts but if I had to use one word to describe it, it would be "inconsistent". I'd give the video about a 4 out of 5. There are some points that look more like a 3-3.5 out of 5 but I didn't see any 4.5-5/5 moments like we saw very often in Dark Knight and Dunkirk. Audio is in 5.1 DTS-HDMA (No dolby atmos on any of these Christopher Nolan 4K Sets); I didn't notice a ton of difference here from the original audio on the Blu-Ray. Also included are the original Blu-Ray disc and Special Features disc. The 3 discs come in a 2-disc case, with 2 of them stacked. There's also a slipcover and digital copy included.

    A Deep Movie

Even though I had seen Inception in the theater and watched it once at home, I recently decided to pick up the 4K version. This is a very complex, mind bending movie by master director Christopher Nolan. Every time that I watch it, a bit more of the plot gets revealed. It features a superb cast working their tails off to tell this, at times, convoluted tale. The 4K/HDR image is very good although there are certain scenes in which colors are to enhanced and can look over-saturated. Nolan has, as usual, chosen not to use the expansive Atmos or DTS:X sound modes but has, rather, stuck with a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track. Regardless, the sound is excellent. The package includes a second Blu-ray disc devoted exclusively to very interesting Special Features.

    Christopher Nolan’s Best Film!

As much as I love Christopher Nolan’s films such as “The Prestige”, “Memento”, “Dunkirk”, “Interstellar” and “The Dark Knight Trilogy”, I don’t think he has created a finer and more well crafted film than “Inception”, a heist film set in the mind of the target. Plenty of unique fights with one of the most original stories in years, “Inception” is a must see for any self-respecting movie fan.

Inception still is one of my favourite films, with great writing by the Nolan brus and also great directing by Christopher himself. A wonderful cast with great performances by all the actors, especially Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, and Marion Cotillard. I truly recommend this film for the ages.

Excellent film. Not the greatest 4K UHD in comparison to the Blu-Ray but it's still a must own for any fans of the film.

This movie is just a site to see. It's more than just a movie. It literally takes you on a journey just like the characters in the movie. The 4k is Real 4k and not fake like most 4k upscaled movies are. Christopher Nolan sure knows how to entertain an audience and respects them with his films and makes sure that people get what they deserve.

Perhaps it's because the original Blu-ray was already superior to begin with, there is not a whole lot the 4K disc has noticeably improved on. Even without an upgraded Dolby Atmos track, it still sounds as great as ever as well. For those who enjoy special features, thankfully they've also included the original two Blu-ray discs with everything intact. So if you have yet to get this flick, buy with confidence; otherwise, you might be happy with the Blu-ray you already own.

This movie is so well done, taking you in and out of dream states that you will wonder what is and is not reality. Even after the movie, you really have to think about the clues that are given to you. DiCaprio is awesome

A brain trip, and a reason why it's not in 3D

The movie is about a bunch of people who operate inside the dreams of other people. It's a bizarre premise, but it is self-consistent. There ae many layers of dreams that play off each other in the big dream heist at he end. I blelive HBO aired a 3D version. Some off the scenes would have looked cool in 3D like the city folding on itself, butt here's one key effect, and it's a decent-sized detail in the story, they'd have to tret right, or else it it would shatter the illusion. It's the 2D infinite staircase. In 2D it looks lke people running up forever, and in a different perspective the illusion's true nature is shown. The fact that you have it in monocular vision goes well with the playing of tricks in the dream world, and a stereoscopic imae would have ruined that scene unless you had false 2D which would have made it look phony right away. As for the ending, it makes you think about what is truly real, and do you really care whether something is real or a dream?

This is one of the greatest movies made by Nolan. 4K quality is not that I expected. But this was made 10 years ago. I think it's OK.
