The Insignia 15.6" LED FHD Portable Monitor from Best Buy is a sleek and ultra portable secondary screen designed for on the go productivity. It is a 1080 IPS display with dual USB-C ports and mini HDMI port. All in lightweight profile. It provides instant dual-screen multitasking whether you are working from coffee shop, hotel, or home office. Easy to transport in the same laptop bag. It offers a seamless USB-C connectivity. Works well with any compatible laptop, tablet, smartphone. One is enough for both power and video. You also have a second USB-C that can be used to power the monitor when necessary. The display is sharp for work. The 1080 Full HD IPS panel delivers crips text, accurate colors, and wide viewing angles making it reliable for office software and video meeting sharing the extra screen. I was a bit confused regarding the internal speakers or sound capabilities. The back panel makes assumption that the monitor might have an audio. It has an audio jack! After checking the specifications I found that the 3.5 mm audio jack only passes audio through to headphones or external speakers via USB-C from the source. I was expecting it to come with a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable or adapter. That would be great. Any ways, most new tech are heavily relying on the USB-C for all kind of connections. As for the price: it sits a little high compared to third party alternatives that bundle more accessories and cable with some times integrated audio. This Insignia is still more premium and seems to be lasting longer than the other alternatives - unknown brands... Why you should buy it? If your daily workflow relies on multipe windows and reference documents, this monitor eliminates the frustration of single-screen multitasking when traveling. The dual USB-C deign ensures a clean, clutter-free desk setup. The screen quality delivers the clarity needed for long work sessions without eye strain. Colors setting are very good. It could be also used in a fixed office as a side monitor for scripts or schedules checking.

The quality of image for this monitor is like any office type monitor regarding colors. It is a full HD monitor, with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz, HDR is not supported. I tested it with my laptop as well as my son’s Nintendo switch 2 and he enjoyed using it. The monitor supports (2) USB C inputs and (1) mini-HDMI input. Beware that if your laptop does not support DP (display port) over USB C, you may need to buy a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable or mini-HDMI to mini-HDMI cable depending on the ports available in your equipment. This monitor does not have built-in speakers. It looks like it has speakers if you look at the back of it, but it doesn’t. It has, however, a 3.5mm jack above the USBs to connect your headphones, or a set of speakers. The monitor comes with a foldable caring case that protects the screen when you transport it and serves as stand for the monitor. Regarding weight, it is a little bit heavier compared to my other portable monitor that is the same size. I will recommend this monitor to someone that is on a go for office tasks. It can be used as a gaming monitor if 60 Hz is ok with you. I will subtract one star, for not providing a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable since many budget laptops does not support DP over USB C. But in regards functionality it is a monitor and works as intended to and does this job well.

Good visual quality and build quality, no complaints whatsoever. Works with USB-C right out of the box, no other cables needed, but keep in mind that if you want to use HDMI to USB-C or mini-HDMI you'll need to connect a second USB-C cable for power.

Excellent and easy to use, no hassle, no downloads and a rarity nowadays buying a product that holds water by face value. So easy that a toddler could figure out how to set-up. Highly recommend.

Dual USB-C & HDMI: The Connectivity Bonus The Insignia 15.6-inch portable monitor is an excellent FHD 60Hz screen to consider for your productivity needs, or just to sit back, enjoy a game, or watch a movie. The IPS panel is of great quality, delivering some nice, vivid colors and smooth playback without the ghosting effect you might get with budget monitor panels around this price point. Even though the brightness is at the lower end of the spectrum, the matte finish helps keep glare at bay and is plenty bright for indoor usage. For outdoor usage on a sunny day, you might struggle to view your content. There are no built-in speakers, but there is an audio jack to plug in some headphones or wired speakers. Portability and Protection The monitor itself is pretty thin and comes with a durable magnetic folio to provide multiple viewing angles and the ability to use it as a vertical screen. The folio is made of a soft rubber material that excels at protecting against bumps and keeps things secure when it’s set down. It comes with a USB-C cable capable of delivering both video and power from your device. You have two USB-C ports—both are capable of power or screen mirroring from your device—and a micro-HDMI port as well. I was able to quickly use it with my phone, Legion Go 2, and laptop as a secondary display without the need for an additional power cord. The Minor Quirks There are some minor quirks, the first being the lack of built-in speakers. On the back, I noticed two circles with holes that look like speakers; I tried multiple devices and adjusted the volume on the monitor itself to max, but nothing worked. The Best Buy product listing doesn’t indicate this right away until you click on "see all specifications," where it notes "no" for speakers. The second quirk is that the magnet strength is decent, but you should still be careful when picking it up. Make sure to lift it by the monitor itself and not just the folio, since the magnets aren't strong enough to hold the monitor's weight alone. I almost dropped it when I picked it up by the folio only. Final Thoughts Overall, I’m very happy with the Insignia monitor. The matte IPS panel is of good quality, and the overall product is about the size of a thin tablet, so it doesn’t take up much room when traveling with your laptop or device. It lets you continue working with an additional screen instead of being stuck with split-view on a single display, and it's portable enough to stay out of your way until you need it.
