This adapter can power many types of devices.

The CD player needs a 4.5 volt adapter, which is hard to find, but this one has that voltage option, plus several more voltage options. Thus, I will be able to use this adapter to power several other battery powered devices that I have.

Not a 5 star only because of the bulk of the plug in transformer takes up thre spots on a power strip.

It is not a good replacement for a phone since the rheostat in the unit will cause a hum on the phone.
