We gave this microwave as a gift. The value for the money spent exceeds itself when you know the recipients. How grateful they were. And not only that, the review rating was exceptional. It’s not one of those huge national brands that inflate their prices just bc of whose name is in the box. The photo is with it in their church kitchen. I love it and God is good!

I moved into a new home about 5 months ago and have been w/o a microwave ever since, so when I saw this new Insignia model, I knew I had to finally get one. The new Insignia 2.2 Cu. Ft. microwave arrived in a very large box, but surprisingly, it was light and easy to move around. Getting it set up was super simple, just remove a few stickers, plug it in, and you're good to go.
This thing is pretty big and it takes up a good chunk of counter space, so I highly encourage anyone considering it to double-check the dimensions and measure their space carefully before buying. I made sure to do that ahead of time, and it fits perfectly where I planned. Just remember, like most microwaves, you’ll need to leave space on the sides, top, and back for proper ventilation. If one side is 3 inches away from a refrigerator or a wall, that’s fine, as long as the other side is open with room to breathe.
I like that the front legs have a rubberized grip that helps keep the unit from sliding when you open and close the door, but it’s not enough. It still slides just a bit, and I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t put the same rubber feet on the back legs too. The front legs also spin around, so it would’ve made sense for them to be adjustable, but they're not. My unit has a slight wobble, probably because my counter isn’t perfectly level, and with something this large, even the smallest slope can cause that. Adjustable front legs would’ve solved that easily.
As far as the controls go, everything is pretty standard. The layout is intuitive, and most of the functions make sense. I’d suggest keeping the instruction manual handy for the first few weeks, either in a drawer nearby or stuck to the fridge, because there are quite a few auto-cook and power settings that aren’t immediately obvious. There is a quick menu sticker, at the top, when you open the door, but you will need to become familiar with it. You’ll probably end up memorizing the ones you use most, but it’s helpful to have that quick reference early on. Which makes me think it’s about time to upgrade microwave displays and control panels. It’s been basically the same thing for as long as I can remember and I’ve always struggled with trying to determine how to use some of the programmed menu buttons w/o having the manual around.
The timer works great, and I find myself using it all the time. I also really like that there’s an option to turn off the clock display when it’s not in use. With so many appliances already glowing numbers at me all day, I appreciate the option to tone it down a bit.
Inside, this microwave is extremely spacious. The large glass turntable has no problem handling oversized plates, casserole dishes, or even multiple smaller dishes at once. It’s probably more room than I personally need, but it’s great for families or anyone who cooks in batches. In terms of performance, it works really well. I’ve used it for a variety of everyday things like melting chocolate and butter, heating leftovers, making popcorn, and cooking frozen meals. Everything came out just right using the custom preset features…. except for the popcorn. That’s the one thing I’d be cautious about. I used the built-in popcorn preset and ended up with a burnt bag. After checking a few other popcorn brands, I noticed that many of them actually say not to use the popcorn button at all. So, honestly, I don’t know why manufacturers still include that setting, yet another reason to update the control panel. It’s probably better to just manually enter a time recommended on the bag, and stop it as soon as the popping slows down.
Something I noticed is that the microwave is really quiet compared to the last one I had. You can barely hear it running, even at full power, which is kind of rare for a 1200W unit. The sensor cooking and inverter technology really do seem to help with even heating and defrosting, especially compared to older microwaves that just blast food in bursts.
There are a few things to note that aren’t necessarily deal-breakers, but worth mentioning. The cord is on the shorter side, so placement near an outlet is important. Also, the door handle has a built-in release that might throw you off at first, it’s not a push button or standard pull, it’s like a trigger button at the top of the handle that you press as you pull the door open, but you get used to it quickly.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this microwave. The power, the size, the quiet operation, and the consistent results all make it a strong buy. If you're looking for a large, family-sized microwave that feels solid and gets the job done without being overly complicated, I’d highly recommend this one. It looks good, works well, and should last for many years.

We have put this microwave to the test. Everyone has remarked how quiet it is. One person wasn’t sure it was actually working and had to open and poke her food just to make sure it was heating. We all laughed at that.
It is also faster than our previous microwave. A 5 minute frozen meal heats in 4 minutes or slightly less. Adjust your cooking time accordingly. Cold pizza was about 45 seconds, depending upon preference.
This microwave is full sized and can handle family size portions. Reheating was even too.
No one reads the note on the front on how to open the microwave. I laughed as people thought it was broken. You just have to lift up slightly on the inside of the handle. After you do it once, you remember quickly.
It looks nice but it is a microwave and they aren’t supposed to be stylish.
The cord should be a little longer. We ended up putting it on a cart and needed to use a low outlet. It barely reached. Measure the distance to your outlet as you shouldn’t use an extension cord with a microwave.
This really is a great microwave and highly recommended. It came solidly boxed too as the box was mangled during delivery and the microwave is fine.

First and foremost this microwave is on the larger size. So make sure you measure twice and buy once.
Setup is super simple.... Take out of box. Put turn table on. Remove tape. Plug in and use. Clock was super easy to program. Note this is NOT a microwave that works with Alexa or Google. Just a plain microwave.
So heating up food was super nice.. I had frozen hash browns and they defrosted evenly. Also I cooked frozen pot pies and it did just fine.
Size is huge capacity. This oven can probably fit a turkey if you wanted to defrost a turkey.
Looks are nice and clean stainless with black.
Button use was different from my current oven. Had to put in cook time in differently. Also handle operation was different too. Lift up then Open. I am so used to button open.
Anyway great microwave. Big capacity and clean modern look. Solid buy for a larger space or home. Definitely not for a small kitchen or a small apartment. So back to my original first sentence. Make sure you measure before you buy.

It lives up to the reviews. I read reviews for days to try to decide what microwave to buy. This one fits anything, is relatively space efficient given its mammoth capacity, has the option to turn off the sound, and cooks much faster than a smaller lower power model. I love it.

I love this INSIGNIA 2.2 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Inverter Technology. It is pretty quiet and have the option to disable the ending sound. Among the features I find extremely convenient would be the Auto Sensing (reheat) and the Defrost Mode(s) where you can input the weight or time. There are 2 different defrost options. It is larger so you can definitely warm a large oval player, for example. It was very reasonable compared to my previous LG 2.0 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave. It didn't offer nearly as many features. I love this one and would not hesitate to repurchase. I also recommend getting the warranty for peace of mind. I do hope you find this review helpful when searching for a great microwave at an affordable price.

I was searching for a large countertop microwave and found this Insignia microwave at a great Black Friday price. I read the reviews and found them to be positive. The wattage was excellent and the size was perfect for my needs. This microwave has inverter technology and a lot of preset options. It has stainless steel on the front and is easy to operate. I do suggest that anyone read the manual to get a better understanding of how the presets work. My previous microwave didn't have quick start presets so I was starting the microwave when trying to put in cook times. This microwave is very quiet which is great. Once I figured out how to use it, I have been very happy with the purchase and highly recommend it. The only thing I can't comment on is how well it will hold up but time will tell. It was a great purchase.

Awesome! Works extremely well, and easy to operate! Also great for making popcorn. I know there is an option for microwave popcorn but not all bags are the same. With saying that, the microwave is extremely quiet! Listening for the popcorn to stop popping is very easy.
At first I didn’t think it was working because it was so quiet and when the microwave dinged, I grabbed my coffee cup. Well it was hot! Awesome microwave! 10 out of 10! Definitely recommend.

After having bad luck with microwave range vent combos, we decided to switch back to a countertop microwave. This was one of the few models we found that had a large enough capacity and featured an inverter technology without having to order directly from a manufacturer. This microwave heats evenly and is quiet. So far we are very happy with this microwave and would recommend it.

I love this microwave for a few reasons!! The lever on the handles prevents from slamming the door shut! When heating it is very quiet compared to the one I had previously. As for the power, it heats up faster than expected. The price was good too! A purchase that I dnt regret buying. Dnt hesitate to purchase this microwave.

I needed a new countertop microwave after my existing one suddenly popped magical smoke and stopped working a few weeks ago. While I have an over-the-range hood combo microwave/airfryer/oven thingamabob, it is too high for the short queen in my life. Hence, I needed a new microwave that matched in both size and appearance to our existing kitchen appliances.
The Insignia microwave we have is a 2.2 cu ft, it's similar in capacity to the over-the-range oven, but it looks a lot bigger for some reason. The 1200W microwave (1350 input) is clad in stunning silver and black, and it matches our existing kitchen very well. Unboxing it was simple, and assembly is even more straightforward, but note that the manual is tucked all the way in the back of the microwave oven; please remove it when you put the rotating tray in. This microwave is HUGE! I didnt think it would fit on my countertop, but a quick measurement reassured me that I’d have an inch to spare on each side of my counter. Your mileage may vary, so please measure twice and verify.
We use our microwaves frequently, not just for warming up food, but also for preparing everything from Rice to Ramen, and let's not forget mug meals. A stand-alone countertop microwave is a must for efficiency. While I appreciate the availability of our over-the-range microwave, which we have been using until this arrived, we generally use the counter microwave a lot more.
In terms of operational efficiency, it's excellent; it warms up food fast with its 1200W of power. We love the vast, cavernous opening and large tray that can hold multiple dishes to warm up together. We also enjoy that it is very quiet; in fact, it is a little too quiet. We appreciate the ‘One Touch” express cook option, where one just needs to hit a number to make for the minutes (2 is for 2 minutes, 3 for 3 minutes, etc) - which is very convenient, and one just has to hit ‘start’ to increase it by 30 seconds. The panel reminds me of our old microwave, which finally gave up after a decade or more of service. I hope this Insignia microwave will have the same long lifespan as our previous one. Overall, a very good must buy!

Replaced a 14-year-old Whirlpool built-in of the same size that had a failing display. The rails from the old unit were easy to mount with screw holes lining up perfectly, but I did have to remove the plastic front feet (all of 10 seconds) since the holes in the rails were too small to fit over them. When I slid the unit into the cabinet, the rails interlocked in the guides with no adjustment and the existing trim kit fit exactly using the existing screw holes in the cabinet.
The door has a button you lift inside the top of the handle as opposed to the old unit that had a door release pad below the control panel. It's still easy to use and not an issue even mounted at eye level like ours is. The door button and the larger front feet may be why I think they say this is technically a countertop unit.
Operationally, this unit is very quiet! We primarily use the "N' minute shortcuts and the "add 30 sec" feature. I will definitely make use of the other sensor cooking buttons in the future. It has a lot of pre-defined settings. The display is really bright and includes a feature that allows turning it off when not in use unless you want it for a nightlight - it's that bright.
I could not be happier with this microwave.

We have had 3 Panasonic 2.2 cu ft microwaves over the years which we have loved. When the current one died there were none available at this time, and we needed quickly so settled on this one. Built in so needed same size. The Insignia is about 1/2" wider but we could accommodate that. So far love the oven works very well and is incredibly quiet. Two minor objections: 1. turn table only turns 3/4 turn every 10 seconds most turn one revolution. 2. When using reduced power does not display the power output. Otherwise very pleased and would buy again.
