What makes a good mini fridge? It should have a mix of door trays for drinks, modular shelves, adjustable temperature, energy efficiency, and blend into the room. This mini fridge accomplishes the basics and goes a little bit further - while not being too noisy either. The glass shelves are great - it provides a nice refined look, visibility of your full fridge, and there are multiple levels that the shelves can be slotted into. Those who plan to use this fridge mostly for drinks and one or two larger items can maximize on space and quickly grab their go-to drinks. The door provides quick access to a 2-liter slot and a plethora of can slots. There's nothing better than being able to unload a 12 pack of soda and and store all of it right in the door. With the 12 pack safely unloaded, there's still space for your 2-liter of choice and a little bit of extra rail space. This will be ideal for most mini fridge users. The adjustable temperature and full energy efficiency is what most people need and perhaps overlook. Inefficient compressors will turn devices like this into a power hog, but the energy star certification on this device keeps your total cost of ownership much lower than the old mini fridges of yesteryear. The temperature can be adjusted from 32 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and I don't imagine most people plan to put this fridge onto its coldest setting - but you have the option, which is all that matters. Coupling all of this together with adjustable feet for uneven ground levels (cement basement floor, anyone?) and a sleek design that blends into almost any aesthetic - and this becomes a compelling product. The value is top tier, which is what I expect most out of Insignia products. The goal is to have a product that does all of the basics, with a few small extras, and do it well. This mini fridge nails that general philosophy while having a compressor that isn't crazy loud. If you prefer to have peace and quiet in your office, you may not want the monotone rumble of this small compressor - but it is expected to have a little bit of noise added to any room with a mini fridge. This little fridge gets my full recommendation. The basics are fully covered and done well, leaving no gaps for my personal needs. I think you're all going to find this fridge delivers value, efficiency, and a modular layout at the right price.

works well-may occasionally need manual defrosting

Packaged well and protected with Styrofoam sheeting. Unboxed, remove all tape, check level, and plug in is really the only setup. The refrigerator looks good, with gloss black, and fits into any room. The door is easily reversible. Plugging in I was impressed how quiet the compressor is when running. The sides get warm, I would think that is where the condenser coils are located. This makes for a very small compressor compartment. There is a little condensation tray above the compressor that doesn't seem to be removable. The manual states condensation, or ice formation - which should defrost between the cycles of the compressor running - will drain into the pan. The shelves are removable and can be positioned at different heights. There is a “crisper” drawer for vegetables. The door has different racks and “cubbys” for different sized drinks, even tow liter bottles. I put a thermometer in the refrigerator and it went down to 35 degrees quickly. When I opened the door and stocked with some beverages, I noticed the back wall “sweating” with condensation. I closed and waited to see what the temperature would level out to. Checking again, the condensation had frozen and the temperature had actually risen. Working with thermostat, I am trying to get setting to about 35 degrees, without the issue of a lot of ice formation. To check this, I turned off, let it defrost, and dried out. Then re-stocked, left door closed for over 24 hours. I found that when setting the thermostat to “Med”, the refrigerator stayed around 35 degrees. I am careful to only open the door briefly, and not often. Still there was condensation, which continued to freeze on the back wall. So, this may require an occasional manual defrosting. It continues to keep beverages and other items cold at about 35 degrees, but it seems the ice will not permanently defrost. Of course, turning the temperature to higher settings would correct this, but recommended temperature is 35 to 38 degrees - and for beverages and food preservation, I prefer to be on the low side. Possibly, the addition of a small blower or fan to circulate cold air and help evaporate ice, would be a good addition.

This is a good little fridge. After unboxing, plugging in, and loading it up with some beverages, they were all nice and cold by the four-hour mark with the fridge coolness set to Med(ium) on the dial. There is no freezer component in this fridge, but that also means that you will NOT have to defrost it yearly. Leaving the shelves in their default location isn't bottle-friendly...as you can see in my posted pictures, not even a 16.9 oz water bottle fits on any of the shelves when they are kept in their shipping configuration (without lifting the shelf, placing the bottle, then letting shelf drop back down again). If you plan on storing bottles, you will either need to take 1 full shelf out or rearrange the shelves as necessary (or lay the bottles flat?) Speaking of the shelves, there are 1 inch gaps at the back of every shelf. Depending on what you store in the fridge, if the item is smaller or has a tendency to roll it could fall down behind the shelves, except on the bottom self, which extends all of the way back. The door has a mix of 12 oz barley soda can holders and some area for upright container storage but is likely only deep enough for a pint-sized bottle of milk. The fridge that I received had a scuff/scrape on the bottom left side of the door. Not a huge deal but check your unit out after receiving it and return/exchange it if something like that bothers you moving forward. For the light inside the fridge, it is a small bulb that you would have easy access to remove & replace whenever it burns out. If you are looking for a smaller fridge for a dorm room, garage, wet bar, etc. that doesn't have a freezer, this unit should serve your purposes just fine.

Great for Entertainment Room or a Secondary Fridge

Insignia has been a great value brand by Bestbuy and I have been having pretty good experiences with the brand. The fridge is of medium size, and it is a very practical one. It has individual compartment to store 12 cans of sodas on the door side of the fridge. The trays are adjustable to provide more clearance for taller items. The trays are made of tempered glass, so they are sturdy enough to hold heavy items such as a gallon of Apple Juice and some other items. There’s also fresh fruit and vegetables compartment on the bottom. There's no freezer unit so this is not the fridge intended to store ice cream, nor can it be used to make ice for drinks. I have been storing my sodas on the fridge, and I've been very pleased drinking some cold ones. The default setting is enough as the soda is not too cold to drink. The appliance is expected to use 260 kWh of electricity each year, with an estimated annual energy expense of $36 according to the label. It has automatic defrost and I don’t have the need to do any defrosting so far. This fridge is ideal for a gaming room or as a secondary one at home.

Bought as open box.. good little fridge. I store customer service (54902) wasn’t great. Best Buy no longer gives points if you don’t use their credit card. I’ll be buying from other places from now on due to this final straw with this company and things that have happened.

Great mini fridge for compact spaces!

The Insignia 3.3 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge with Door Storage and Energy Star Certification is a great fridge option for compact spaces, or if you just need some extra fridge space for additional drinks and food. While this would work well in a dorm, office, mini bar or other compact space, I set mine up in a basement storage room, as we are constantly filling up our main refrigerator and out of room. It is great to have this extra fridge storage for our extra drinks or other food items so our main fridge isn't always so crowded. Plus its also nice to grab a drink from while in the basement family room, without going up to the kitchen. Following are some of the features and my observations of this mini fridge: - The mini fridge has 3,3 cubic foot of space and is free-standing. I was surprised how much I could actually get in it, as it is more than I thought I could. The outside of the fridge measures 34"H x 18.58"W x 17.56" deep. - You can reverse the door hinge so it swings whichever way works best for your space. - This unit does not have a freezer compartment, so its all just straight up extra fridge space. - The fridge has 3 tempered glass shelves, a bottom crisper drawer for fruits and vegetables, and 7 door racks for additional door storage for things like soda cans, condiments and there is a spot for a 2 liter bottle on the bottom rack. - There is a temperature dial that allows you to set it at your preferred temp, from 32 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. - It includes automatic defrost. - The fridge is Energy Star certified, so efficient with electricity. This Insignia 3.3 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge is exactly what I needed. I like all the racks and shelves to keep things organized and it gives me the extra refrigerator space I needed in my house, as I can store extra drinks and food in this mini fridge rather than crowd my full size fridge. This is a good option for extra refrigerator storage or when you need a small fridge in a compact space. -

I am very pleased with my new Insignia Mini Fridge! I really wanted a solution that would work nicely for keeping my lunch items and beverages within easy reach while I work in my busy medical office. This fridge offers the right blend of features combined with an excellent price that make it a great option to recommend. It does have a few quirks, though, that would prompt me to let buyers know just in case. First of all, I have a few features I like: I love the door storage and how it really optimizes organization. I easily was able to put several sparkling waters, protein shakes, and a full carton of half and half in the door and still had some room for additional odds and ins! If you have ever used a mini fridge, you will know that since these aren’t always equipped with the best automatic defrosting features, it is best to keep cans of soda and similar beverages from being stored in direct contact with the sides or rear wall of the fridge. This is a great solution for working on that. I also like the crisper drawer and handy shelves for organizing my meal-prepped meals in Tupperware. Now for the quirks. For one, while I am glad to have the mechanical temperature dial, it has been a chore to get the temperature just right in this fridge. I am aiming for about 35-37 degrees F, and I am consistently either getting too cold, down to 32 degrees, or too warm at 40 degrees. I think I may have finally dialed in the temperature, but since the dial is completely exposed, I am worried that I may bump it and mess up my hard work. Additionally, as others have noted, I am already experiencing some frozen condensation in the back of the fridge, which suggests that we will likely need to manually defrost at some point. Altogether, the quirks do not outweigh the benefits or value of the excellently priced and spacious mini fridge! I would highly recommend it for purchase, and I hope the review has helped provide some clarifying points!

When I received the Insignia - 3.3 Cu. Ft. Mini Fridge with Door Storage and ENERGY STAR Certification - Black, from the delivery guy I was actually a little surprised by how large it is in person. Luckily about 20% of that surprise was just packaging. The fridge is right about exactly how big I was thinking when I ordered it. If you've ever stayed in a motel before, then this is the same size as 90% of all motel fridges. The lay out is super smart, there are dedicated can holders built into the door, plus the door shelves are the right size to hold several more cans. There is a spot in the bottom of the door that holds a 2 liter bottle perfectly.. it's actually a little wider so it would prolly fit a juice container pretty well also, or any slightly wider liquid container. I do know that I was able to fit 2 12 packs, a 30 pack, some energy drinks, several 16oz bottles of water, and there is still more room left. I basically took all the drinks out of my full size fridge and moved them into this one, and now my full size fridge looks sadly empty. Just in time for Thanksgiving and all the yummy leftovers! I left the drinks in the mini fridge overnight, turned the temp setting all the way down, and the next day I used an infrared thermometer and took measurements right at 34 degrees inside.. my beer has never tasted so good! This fridge is perfect for what I wanted to do with it, which is to be a nice addition to my bar set up for mixed drinks etc... If anyone is looking for a nice fridge I'd easily recommend this one. I absolutely couldn't find a single negative thing to say about it.

This is a perfect little fridge for me for my garage area for keeping drinks and small food items cold. This will easily hold 36 cans for a 24 pack of water bottles, and maybe some popsicles or ice cream in the freezer area . I chose the white because it matches perfectly with my smaller deep freezer I have in the garage to keep extra meat in the garage. The with depth and height is perfect it comes up to about my waist I'm 6'1 so I can set extra items on top of it for storage and not have to read your stretch to get these items when I'm done. The fridge works perfect at keeping drinks nice and cold and the small freezer section is nice for frozen items like ice cream. I will be using this a lot when we have family over for drinks and or items like keeping pies cool or to cool off. I would definitely recommend this as a less expensive alternative to some of the big-name brands that can sometimes be a little pricier for a smaller fridge. This 3.3 cubic ft insignia compact fridge fits the bill for me perfectly as it's nice to reach for a cold beverage while working outside either on the car in the yard. I hope this lasts for many years to come.

Nice beer fridge as long as it’s not on carpet.

This fridge does a pretty good job of maintaining a fairly consistent temperature. Over the course of several hours, the temperature varied by less than 5 degrees. One knock against it, in my opinion, is that it doesn’t get as cold as I’d like. Even with the setting at MAX cooling, the temperature didn’t get below 40 degrees. I had planned to use this as a beer fridge but depending on the season, and the respective choice in beers, I’d prefer that it was able to get to a lower temperature. Another thing to be aware of is that the door sits very low to the ground. If you’re putting this fridge on carpet that has any height to it at all, the door may drag across the floor when you open and close it. Might be able to alleviate this by setting the fridge on some furniture sliders or something, but definitely something to keep in mind. Having the glass shelves, as opposed to wire shelves like my previous ‘refreshment’ fridge, is that it holds cans a LOT better. The other fridge constantly had an issue with can(s) getting shifted just enough for the edge to fall into the gap & cause the can to fall over. With that, we were easily able to get this fridge to fit more cans in it. I also like the in-door can holder better. Overall, very happy with the fridge.
