Home screen default dilemna

We didn't realize it at the time, but it was a smart tv which we were trying to avoid getting. We found it frustrating to set this tv up as when you turn it on it takes you to the "home" screen rather than automatically displaying the HDMI input with our cable feed. it took a fair amount of time to search the internet to determine how to configure the tv to start up using "the previous input feed". Due to our frustration we almost returned this tv. Fortunately the picture is nice and clear.
