Great little beverage fridge for the price

Small little fridge, fit perfect in little area of the pantry. Just had to remove a cabinet shelf and add electrical. Also, switched the side of the door hinges to the left side. The bev fridge allows the regular fridge to not get over crowded, fighting for space. It does not hold glass bottles without sacrificing space. In 2 weeks time had lots of different drinks go through the small bev fridge; waters, beers, sodas, etc. I have the temp set to 38C. If you stuff the fridge too much the drinks in the back can freeze over. Insignia recommends stacking the cans on their side. Cost is good enough even if it only last one summer since that is the heavy use season.

We love this little refrigerator! It has been a staple in our outdoor kitchen at our camper. It’s the perfect size to hold our drinks and even in the hottest months, our drinks stayed nice and cold! It has a little LED light to help you see at night as well. Such a good buy at a good price too!

    Fantastic Beverage Cooler!

I was super impressed when I initially removed the fridge from the box. I know it says it’s 40lbs, but it was really lightweight. I thought there was no way 48 cans can fit, but I’ll tell you was I wrong! It’s been so great having, that I wish I had a second. I’m very picky when it comes to esthetics of my appliances. This beverage cooler is modern and sleek by offering the stainless-steel finish. It’s compact, small and can be placed on a counter or to the side without it getting in the way. I’m really happy with the design and how compact it is. It’s so compact that I didn’t believe it’d actually hold 48 cans like advertised, but it does! I was reading the manual (yes, I do that!) and it showed some graphics on how to arrange the fridge. Simply follow those instructions and you’ll fit the cans. The buttons were very easy to push and I was able to quickly set the temp of my choosing. I setup the beverage cooler around 4pm. Set the temp to 37F and put in 16 fizzy waters. By 8pm those were nice and cold! I’m sure it was faster, but I wanted the cooler to do its thing before trying one. This’ll be perfect for game days when I want to load it with adult beverages. I can do so in the morning knowing those’ll be nice and cold come kickoff or tipoff! I haven’t had to use this feature yet, but the manual says there’s a “memory setting” that will restore my set temp if there’s a power outage. I absolutely love this because my wine cabinet doesn’t have this and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgot to reset the temp. I am super pleased this device will help! I also like the idea of its automatic defrost setting to help it stay free of ice buildup. I'm a fan that I can remove the wire rack if needed. I sometimes purchase the 16oz adult beverage can, so it'll be nice I can remove the wire rack and place the larger cans without a problem. I know that'll takeaway from the overall space, but it's nice to know I can maneuver the rack. Another thing I dig is that the door is reversable. If you don't like how it swings open, you have the freedom to swap the door to the other side. I left mine how it arrived, but I can see how some people will want it opening the other way. The balance knobs on the bottom didn't need much adjusting to make it level and the knobs were very easy to turn. I can’t wait to have this out for when my buddies come by. Pros: 48 cans – consult the user manual and it’ll show how to arrange the cans Sleek with stainless steel Compact design Buttons are easy to press Quiet See through door Reversable door LED Light Removable wire shelf Energy efficient appliance Cons: None Overall: It’s a no brainer at this price. It cools quickly, provides tons of storage and relatively quiet. I’m super pleased with it so far and definitely recommend it! I’m considering a second one for my office.

    Good Compact Mini Fridge

It's a decent mini fridge and well put together. The black/stainless steel look is attractive and fits in well where we have it. The door opens smoothly and seals up well. And it's quiet; I had to almost put my ear up to it to confirm it was working. Out of the box it opens from left to right, but it can be modified to open in the other direction. The second shelf can be positioned near the top of the fridge, though I wish there was one or two more increments of adjustability. We have this by our coffee station and are using the bottom shelf for alternative milks, but they're a little too tall to sit upright. The controls are easy to set and use. And it keeps our drinks cold down to 34 degrees. The plug for anyone who is curious is a right angle, which makes it nice for an outlet with something pushed up against it but potentially problematic for a power strip. Besides a few minor quibbles we're pretty happy with it. Nothing mind blowing here but it works and that's about all I can ask from it. There’s no shortage of choices when it comes to mini fridges, but I don’t think you’d be unhappy with this one.

Beautiful Cooler That Keeps Your Drinks Ice Cold!

Great little fridge! This mini fridge is a perfect companion for your office, bedroom, indoor work out area, or game room. It's really silent too. I've been stuffing this thing with all sorts of beverages from beers to sodas to seltzers. It has kept everything ice cold, even when full. I also love the look of the stainless steel fridge door with it's beautiful glass panel. For the pricing segment that this comes in at, you get a lot of bang for your buck. The included shelves and steel bar help keep your drinks nice and tidy. This mini fridge also has a neat mode called "Quick Cool" (hold down "Standby" and "Light" buttons together for 3 seconds) that will help with cooling down a large number of beverages after they've been added to the fridge. Within a couple hours of almost filling this thing to brim, most of my beverages were cold enough to drink. You can also adjust the temperature anywhere from 34° to 50° F. Since I've been really into Belgian pale ales lately, I like keeping this at around 40° F. While this only has the ability to keep the light on or off, it would have been great to have an auto light function that would turn on/off as you open and close the fridge door. This fridge also gives you the option to reverse the door in case you want it to open in the opposite direction. Overall, really happy with this fridge. The only minor improvement I would make is adding a handle on the top of the fridge door instead of just the side. Oh, if you hear a slight hum or some gurgling sounds from time to time this is completely normal. This happens when each cooling cycle ends (it's very subtle) or during the flow of refrigerant in the cooler. If you're someone like me who hates having to go downstairs every time you want a cold beverage (or just having to drag yourself to the kitchen), you're gonna love this beverage cooler!

I should have gotten one of these a long time ago!!! The Insignia 48 can cooler has been a great addition to my kitchen. I received the cooler with no problems whatsoever. The packaging was well done and the cooler had no damage or dents. I gave my fridge a day to settle in, and then I finally got it out of the box and plugged it in. The Instructions and set up was easy to follow. It has 4 buttons, the on and off, light and the temperature button. The door is reversible, which I really liked. This option gives you the convenience to move the cooler around without the hassle of the door not fitting a certain way. The light in the cooler makes the drinks look more appealing, giving it a nice glow in the dark. It also makes the drinks easier to find. The temperature settings can change from fahrenheit to celsius. It also has the quick cool mode so if you are adding a large amount of drinks and want them cool asap then this is a great option. 48 cans definitely fit nicely without them overlapping. I was afraid of them not fitting properly and looking messy especially with a see thru door, but I was content that they look attractive. I was only able to try it out with 12 oz cans but of course other size drinks fit and the racks can be moved around. I wished it was a bit smaller in size, because it would've fit so good on my kitchen countertop. It's a bit off but I still was able to fit it in on another side of the counter. Other than that, it's great and gives you that extra storage we sometimes don’t have in our regular fridge. Great beverage cooler for this upcoming summer heat.

    Gonna be a Chill Summer!

We just got back from a Mexican Resort, and I was missing the resort vibe…Then I saw the Insignia 48 can Beverage cooler and recalled the delightful mini fridge in the room at the resort and all the delicious beverages at my finger tips and thought I would love that in my home!!! Mentioned it to my wife and then there was the old…”where are you going to put it” debate. I told her I would find a place. Got the fridge and was all set to put it in the garage or some other man cave place but the wife saw how beautiful it was and sleek and it is….she said how bout we put it somewhere in the house. That evolved to lets put it in the hearth room and that way when guests come over this summer they can help themselves to what ever they want. The cooler actually turned into a show piece (see pics)!! It is awesome! Holds plenty of all the beverages we love and so accessible. It also frees up drink space from the main fridge for BBQ leftovers!! It chilled the cans perfect and you can re-arrange the middle rack for bottles or whatever! Works great! Well built, Quiet! Looks amazing!!! I LOVE IT!!! It really adds a sleek and stylish fun vibe to our room! NOTE: Be super careful if you are reversing the fridge door. The hinge cover was hard to get off and I scratched the top pretty bad which really stinks but a black marker helped cover the scratches! Other than getting the top cover off the door reversal was pretty easy.

Great little mini-frig. Poor quality control.

The Insignia 48 Can Beverage Cooler does a good job of keeping my drinks cold. The frig is attractive with its stainless steel and glass door and black body. The control panel is well placed. The target temperature is centered on the control panel and can be seen through the window. And there is an interior light that can be toggled from the control panel. The light cannot be set to auto on/off like kitchen frig. Overall, this is a nice little drink fridge but does have some quality control issues that I will discuss below. Unpacking and setup: Unpacking the frig was straight forward: cut the plastic straps, lift the top of the box, and extract the frig from the Styrofoam bottom. There is a sticky plastic film wrapped around the sides and top of the frig that is easily removed. The door is also securely taped shut. The unit ships fully assembled. The only adjustments that may require attention is leveling the frig using the single leveling foot and swapping the door from opening to the right to opening to the left. The control panel is simple and easy to use. There is a standby button. Unfortunately, the manual does not define what Standby Mode is. Only that Standby mode can be turned on. Light button turns on the internal light. Pressing and holding both the Standby and Light buttons for 3 seconds will put the frig into Quick Cool mode. There is a small display that shows the target temperature in either F or C. The last two buttons are used to set the target temperature. Pressing both temperature buttons for three seconds will switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. On my unit, the power cable was jammed into the compressor compartment tangled with the copper pipes. In my opinion, this was a very poor decision and could lead to damage to the unit if the cord is not extracted with the utmost care. Cooling: The unit cools well. There was a lot of bubbling and churning in the cooling system when I first plugged the frig into the wall. This was mostly due to trapped gases in the cooling system being spread around the cooling system during shipping. It takes a few minutes for the system to sort itself out before it starts sounding like a normal refrigerator. The manual does cover this in the Troubleshooting section of the manual. There are two cooling modes: Quick Cool and normal. Quick Cool can be used to rapidly cool a fresh load of room temperature bottles or during partial refills. Quick Cool is pre-programmed to run for 24 hours unless interrupted by the operator. I set my frig to 45 degrees target temperature. Quick Cool took less than 12 hours to cool off an initial load of 32 cans and six Gatorade bottles. Pressing the Standby and Light buttons simultaneously and holding for 3 seconds will turn off Quick Cool. For greatest efficiency, you will want to keep about 4 to 6 inches clearance to either side of the frig. The left and right sides get hot as the frig dissipates waste heat. Good air circulation, plenty of clearance on all sides, away from heat sources, and out of direct sunlight are all good ways to make the frig as efficient as possible. I placed mine in my basement with six-inch clearance to either side and about four inches from the wall to the back of the frig. My basement is temperature, humidity controlled, and away from direct sunlight. Loading: The frig is easy enough to load. Insignia has a 12 ounce can loading scheme outlined in the manual that will get you to 48 cans. They use a combination of vertical and horizontal storage of your cans. I managed to fit 32 cans with six larger Gatorade bottles. But could have done better if I vertically loaded the top shelf. The shelf height can be adjusted. There are two positions molded into the case. The upper most position is really close to the cooling plate and did not seem to serve any purpose for me at that height. The default height did not allow for the Gatorade bottles to fit. So, I put the shelf on top of the first position molding. Which, coincidentally, works very well as another shelf height position. The bottom row has two non-removable bars to prevent the frig contents from falling out. This is the reason I did not remove the top shelf to install my box wine box. First, the bars on the lower shelf got in the way. Second, I would have to remove the top shelf regardless of vertically or horizontally storage. And finally, I would not be able to use the spigot through the bottom shelf bars. Poor Quality Control (why I gave this a three-star review): First, the door can be positioned from the right side of the frig to the left. This is a good thing. Except, the holes in the sheet metal and the frame do not align. For one hole, the internal insulation overlaps the screw hole. This prevents me from repositioning the hinge from the right side of the frig to the left. Additionally, the sheet metal casing is bent and misaligned to allow the holes to line up. Second, the bottom of the frig has one leveling foot, a nob on the bottom of the door hinge that doubles as a foot, and then a metal plate with the threaded end of multiple screws fully exposed. The metal plate can and will scratch hardwood floors, vinyl tiles, and counter tops. The exposed screws can cause injury. Third, Insignia did not provide any stick-on feet to address any of these issues. I provided my own felt stick on feet. See included photos. Third, the cooling plate inside the frig is bent. There are two hooks along the inside roof that secure the cooling plate and stabilize it against the case. The left corner is bent and insecure. I attempted some gentle manipulation to resolve the issue and failed. I did not apply force because I did not want to risk cracking the plate and possibly releasing coolant into my room. Fourth, the wire shelf is filthy. Originally, the shelf looked grimy and rusty. I used a damp cloth to clean the shelf. It now looks like a new shelf. In all fairness, the instruction manual does suggest cleaning the inside of the frig before use. Still, why does the wire shelf look like it’s been exposed to the elements prior to shipping. All you can really see from the included photo is a bit of discoloration. And finally, I mentioned this earlier, why is the power cord jammed into the cavity of the frig for shipping. This would not be such a bid deal if the cord wasn’t entangled with the copper tubes. It took some manipulation and untangling to extract the power cord without disrupting the tubes. But if I had just grabbed and pulled then I could have caused some damage. There is plenty of space in the Styrofoam shipping container for the cable so there is no reason why the cord is shoved into the cavity. Overall, any one of these items could be considered a minor issue. What I pointed out are not difficult or expensive things to fix. This does show poor quality control on Insignia's part when taken as a whole. Conclusion: Does the frig do a good job cooling my drinks? Yes, it does. It is quiet. Has a good feature set. I like the stainless steel and glass door. And the control panel is well placed and easy to use. I also feel that there are some quality control issues that Insignia needs to address before I am willing to give this frig my buy recommendation.

I got this as a personal drink fridge. It does the job well. I keep it at 36 degrees and filled with drinks. They stay cold, and the noise is very low. I have the fridge around me and can't hear anything from it. The bottom will fit standard water bottle drinks and the top fits can size just fine, neither feel too tight. I can get various drink amounts depending on the size and type of drinks. I can even lay a 2 liter bottle down and it fits in there. Overall I am very happy with it. I don't know if this is a good size for a family though. It works for me as a single person just fine but you may want larger if you have a big family.

This mini fridge claims to hold 24 cans and it probably will hold them, but the way it is designed it can hold about 24 cans on the top shelf standing up, but the bottom shelf has a fence to keep the cans from falling out. In order to get 24 cans in the bottom requires them to be laying down. The bottom is only 7.5" tall, so you cannot stack them 2 high. The top shelf allows up to 4 cans deep and 6 cans wide. Nothing taller than a 12 oz can will fit on the top shelf. The bottom shelf being 7.5" tall will allow seltzer cans, but no bottles taller than 7.5". There is a digital display that can be adjusted by one degree at a time. I set it to 45 degrees and checked the temperature after cans had been in there at least 24 hours. My unit tested 39 degrees with my meat probe thermometer. So even though the temperature can be adjusted by the single degree, my unit was 6 degrees off. These units are not very efficient. The Energy Guide rates this at an estimated 272 kWh per year or $33 based on 12 cents per kWh. This unit is on the high side for 1.5 cubic foot models. The lowest was $10 and top end was $39. If you are looking for a glass door refrigerator without an ice tray, and 1.5 cubic foot is large enough, you will probably like it. If you already have a mini fridge that is at least 1.5 cubic foot, then you may be disappointed.

I love love this fridge. Let me tell you why this fridge is so great! 1. It gets ice cold! It's lowest temperature is am icy cold temp of 34 degrees. 2. It has a lit digital press screen temperature controller. 3. It holds a decent amount of beverages. 4. It has a light on the inside of the fridge 5. It's sexy... it's looks very expensive and sleek. It looks way better than the average black dorm room fridge. 6. The door is reversible. 7. It opens and closes with ease. Only 2 Cons 1. It's very very heavy 2. The price. I got it as a best buy deal of the day for $169. I feel like it should only cost $100.

I just got this Insignia 48-can beverage cooler for my office/game room and so far, I love it! This thing is built so solid, the magnetic closure is strong and gives the perfect seal, keeping the drinks (or sandwiches) cold inside. My office/game room is on the second floor of my house, and it gets annoying to run down to the kitchen or out to the garage for a tasty beverage. This mini fridge/ beverage cooler solves that problem! I love how compact the fridge is but is still able to hold a whopping 48 cans! One feature I love is that the top shelf is high enough to fit tall boys standing upright on the bottom of the fridge. Another thing I love is the modern look of the unit. The stainless-steel door is classic and pairs well with the black body of the rest of the fridge. The glass window is a nice touch, so you know what the fridge has to offer as well as a quick view to see if it needs to be restocked. The beverage cooler is very simple to use. Just plug it in and set the temperature to your desired degree, wait until it is cold, then enjoy. I am glad I picked this little fridge up; it can hold 48 12-ounce cans and has a temperature range of 34 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Not only that but if you were to have a power outage, the mini beverage cooler is equipped with an automatic memory function that will restore the temperature settings back to normal after the power comes back on. Another huge plus is that it is equipped with automatic defrosting! There is one removable shelf to help clean as well as give the ability for height adjustment. There is also the white LED option, the light can stay on or off, it looks great on and provides the perfect amount of light in my office for those late-night gaming sessions. The door is reversible and gives you the ability to open the door from the left or the right. In all, I am glad I picked up this Insignia 48-Can Beverage Cooler. It has been an excellent addition to my office/game room and would even be great in a garage or home theater room! I think Insignia knocked it out of the park with this solid-built little refrigerator!

Works Great & Keeps Constant Temps

Holds 48 12oz cans. Now I can store my drinks in a much neater and cooler way. Although, not all drinks are sold in 12oz cans, so if you like to drink different types of beverages this can accomodate 16oz cans and 16.9oz water bottles as well. The top half of the cooler is a little deeper than the bottom half, so depending on how you divide things up, you could really take advantage of the upper half. Water bottles are little squishy so you can fit way more on the top half than on the bottom. You can even squeeze a little extra room out of the bottom half by removing the front bar. As long as things are not angled to roll out the front, this works great. I was able to fit 21 16.9oz water bottles in the top half and only 18 16.9oz bottles in the bottom half. for a total of 39 bottles for the 16oz CANS, I was able to get 24 cans in the top half. and 17 cans on the bottom half for a total of 41 CANS The middle shelf is also removable to be able to fit taller bottles like 1 or 2 liter bottles, You would be lucky to fit 4 standing 2liters bottles like that. With the middle shelf installed you get fit 3 2liter bottles laying down. There doesn't seem to be a way to show the current temp. The temp on the display is the set temperature, in which the cooler will reach and maintain, but I would like to be able to check the progress after just restocking the whole thing. It does have a Quick Cool feature, in which it runs harder for 12hrs to get the temp down faster. even if the desired temp is reached before the 12hrs, it will continue to finish it's 12hr cycle. You can activate this by holding the standby and light buttons for 3 seconds. After a typical restocking from empty the drinks were cool enough to enjoy after about 4 hours, and were nicely chilled in about 8 hours. The door is also reversable to accomodate opening it from either side.

We have an under-counter refrigerator built in in the cabinetry of our “kitchen annex”, but we use ours for non-alcoholic beverages and garden vegetable overflow during harvest season. However, as we approach summer months, having a stock of seltzer and 12 ounce canned beverages available prompted the need for an additional refrigerator that we could place closer to the back deck than the kitchen annex. The price point of this compact refrigerator was far superior than the $3500 that the JennAir model cost, and truly functions on a par for our needs. This item was provided to me by BestBuy for free, for which I am providing this review based on my honest opinion after a week’s usage in a real life home situation. Pros: Way less expensive than kitchen appliance grade models, about on the par with similar beverage coolers from other on-line vendors Easy to transport, weighs only 41 pounds, so was easy enough to transport to the basement between seasons. Not bad looking, sleek, no garish labeling on the front, stainless steel and black glass modern visage Easy to adjust temperature, with LED display of the set temp easily visible when you open the door Reversing the door from right side hinge of door to the left side would be an easy task with screwdriver or hex socket wrench. The internal temperature easily adjusted from 34º to 50º F with a simple push button array. Much more accurate than a "low-medium-high" knob. Grounded plug powered by standard 120V AC plug drawing only 75W of power. The EPA yellow sheet suggested $33/ annually for electricity. Your mileage may vary... Very quiet running (stated 39 db). Our dishwasher is rated at 46 db, and is virtually silent when running. Interior lighting, so you can see what you are reaching for There is a Quick Cool mode, initiated from the simple control panel, that will more rapidly chill an influx of a large quantity of cans, rather than allowing the thermostat to do its job. It was not specified how the Quick Cool works, but it will stay at that mode for 24 hours, unless you manually disengage the Quick Cool at the control panel. Auto defrosting of the compressor coils, so you do not need to do that chore. They state that the process takes 45 minutes to complete, after which the compressor restarts on its own. Leveling feet on the front of the unit, which would be helpful. If there was a slant in the surface on which you have the cooler placed, the door could tend to spontaneously swing open if not closed securely. Comes with a one year warranty fulfilled by BestBuy.

So you could take it to a local BestBuy store for warranty service rather than having to ship it, should a problem occur. Cons: The temperature control was not exactly accurate. I tested the set point of 45º using a separate thermometer after an overnight equilibration without opening the door, and without any other contents in the unit. The thermometer that showed it to be 52º after a about 18 hours of equilibration. This is probably fine, for we are not using this for mission critical laboratory work; just to keep the beverages cold. The instruction book states that it is expected to have a 5º temperature difference between the set temperature and the actual interior temperature; so my discovery was close to their published range. The owner’s manual specifies that the refrigerator be installed free of any adjacent items that might block air flow around the refrigerator; so not installed under a counter as a “built-in” or pushed against a wall. They specify at least 4 inches of space “on all sides”. They specify it is for indoor installation; specifically ruling out a “garage or any other outside installation”. So if you have a cabana next to your pool, they seem to be saying this is not to be installed in such an outdoor structure. Certainly the fridge should be away from sources of heat and out of direct sunlight for most efficiency. I greatly prefer the two-drawer design of our under-counter refrigerator, which I realize is much more expensive. Having two full length pull-out drawers with extending suspension runners is much ore expensive to construct and therefore costs a lot more. But having a drawer present to you the entire contents, especially if placed on the floor, greatly improves seeing what is in the back corenr of the lower drawer. Otherwise you are on your hands and knees to retrieve something from the lower back corner. A counter top installation of this cooler would be preferable for being able to retrieve from, rather than if placed on the floor. The capacity of 48 cans is the theoretical maximum if you follow their loading algorithm. To get 48 cans into the small interior, half the cans are hidden in a back row from your view on opening the door. So you cannot see at a glance what is actually in the depths of the refrigerator. In reality, perhaps easy access and viewing of the choices will be perhaps half that number, constrained by the rather small interior volume of space available. This is stated to be an interior volume of 1.5 cubic feet, so about the volume of a “standard” countertop microwave oven, which is in a range of 1.0 cu. ft. - 1.6 cu. ft.
So if your needs are for large parties on a regular basis, this could be too small for your desired use. Conclusions
At a retail price in the $200 area, this might fill the niche perfectly for your needs. It is pleasing to look at, seems solid and well constructed. It provides a convenient and adequate location for keeping standard 12 ounce cans cold and easily retrieved. In a home situation, it frees up space in the kitchen refrigerator. Plus you won't have your guests and children repeatedly opening up the door of the master refrigerator, which then will cause the kitchen fridge to run more often due to lost cooling into the room from the large door openings. So the small fridge might well be a money saver as well. In an office situation, to present water, seltzer, or soft drinks to clients, this could be an ideal waiting room luxury. Having a "single use appliance" is often not the most practical or cost effective use of your budget. Think about a Belgian waffle iron or a fondue pot that takes up kitchen storage space and gets used once a year. However, the consumption of canned beverages is quite the norm in most American families, so a dedicated can cooler is possibly exactly what you need, and would lessen the electricity your larger refrigerator uses.
