Excellent braided cable for HDMI to USB-C

First off, the build quality of this Insignia 6' 8K Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 braided cable is top-notch. The braided design not only adds durability but also prevents tangling, which is a common annoyance with other cables. It feels sturdy and robust, giving me confidence that it will last through numerous plug-and-play cycles without the cable developing tears at tension points as is common with lesser quality cables. Performance-wise, this cable doesn't disappoint. The 8K @ 60Hz Ultra HD resolution support ensures crystal-clear picture quality, making every detail pop with stunning clarity. Whether I'm streaming movies, playing games, or giving presentations, the visuals are consistently sharp and vibrant. One of the standout features of this cable is its USB-C to HDMI 2.1 compatibility. This means it supports high refresh rates and incredibly fast data transfer speeds, resulting in smooth, lag-free video playback and gaming experiences. I've noticed a significant improvement in responsiveness and fluidity, especially during fast-paced action sequences in games. Moreover, the 6-foot length provides ample flexibility in setup without compromising signal quality. It's long enough to reach from my laptop to the display without any tension or strain on the cable itself. Another aspect worth mentioning is the hassle-free plug-and-play functionality. I appreciate that I don't need any additional drivers or software installations; I simply plug it in, and it works seamlessly every time on both Windows and macOS. This simplicity adds to the overall user experience and convenience. In terms of value for money, this cable delivers. Considering its performance, durability, and compatibility, it's competitively priced compared to other cables on the market. Plus, the peace of mind knowing that I have a reliable connection makes it worth every penny. Overall, I can confidently recommend the Insignia 6' 8K Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 Braided Cable to anyone in need of a high-quality cable for their multimedia needs. It's a reliable, well-built cable that delivers exceptional performance, making it a worthy addition to any entertainment or professional setup.

Does what a Cable should, Great for Travel

It’s a cable that works as stated, what else can I ask for? I needed a USB-C to HDMI cable to connect a tablet to a larger display for an event and the Insignia 6’ 8K Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 Braided cable checked all the boxes. The 6 feet of length was perfect and braided cable helps from tangling up while traveling. Pros: - Braided Cable. - Future proof with 4K @120Hz or 8K @60Hz. - Plug and Play across multiple devices. Cons: - HDMI plug connector is long. I was able to plug the Insignia USB-C to HDMI cable into my tablet and connect to a 4K TV without any issues. Both audio and video worked great. Connections on both ends were solid with little flex, yet easy to remove when needed. The TV detected the connection within seconds and the table had no issues mirroring the display. Exactly what I needed with no fuss. I also tested the Insignia cable with a Laptop and Phone, both connected without to a 2K monitor I use, again both audio and video worked. The cable is wrapped in a braid, that is flexible yet tough. This makes it great for travel, as the cable will not get tangled in transit nor will it excessively bend and damage the internal cable. Though the cable was a bit stiff initially but worked perfectly for my purpose. The only concern I had with the Insignia design, is the HDMI plug housing is rather large, measuring around 2.3in from the bottom of the plug to the exposed braided cable. But if you are planning to use this cable for a use where the HDMI plug will have limited space, be aware that the flex on the cable will only allow a 90-degree bend at about 3.5in from the plug bottom. This was not a concern for my use, but if the intended use is the bottom of a monitor with odd housing or a concealed plug, this could be an issue. For my use, the Insignia 6’ 8K Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 Braided cable was exactly what I hoped it would be, simple to use and solid. The big plus is that it supports 8K at 60hz, so in the future when I need to do this again but with a larger than 4K display, I’ll have a cable ready on hand!

    Watch on your hotel’s HDTV.

Great for regular use of a computer with a TV but even better as a travel companion to connect your compatible device to a hotel or cruise ship TV. It’s long enough to reach between easily and compact to carry. Highlights: * Slim and sturdy metal over-molds. * Long braided cable. Room for Improvement: * HDMI over-molding is very long (deep). Usage: I like watching videos from my tablet or phone when traveling but if there’s an HDTV available in the room, it’s better to use the larger screen instead. With this cable, it couldn’t be easier to get your device’s video on the big screen. Just plug in the USB-C end to your compatible device such as an iPad, a newer iPhone or a laptop running MacOS, Windows or Chrome. Then plug the other end into any HDTV or monitor that has an HDMI input. Most hotel and cruise ship rooms have a TV with a spare HDMI port, so this cable allows you to use that TV’s big screen instead of your device’s small one. HDMI carries both audio and video, so you can also use your TV’s speakers. If you’re using this cable to connect to a computer monitor, you’ll probably need to use your device’s speakers or something connected via Bluetooth like headphones or a portable speaker. The cable supports surround audio and up to 8k video at 60hz. Most TVs are 4k or less, so this cable should be relatively future-proof. At 6 feel long, there’s more than enough cable to reach between a wall-mounted TV and a table, chair or even the floor below it for your device. Depending on the room layout, you can probably run the cable from the TV to the bed and just leave your device next to you. The over-molds on both ends are slim enough to fit typically-spaced USB-C and HDMI ports. The HDMI over-mold end is long so you’ll need a good bit of depth for the cable to fit. Most TV ports are on the edges rather than the back so you should be OK. I tried connecting my iPad Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Microsoft Surface Laptop and an older MacBook Pro to my 4k HDTV and all worked flawlessly. Overall: Provided the length suits your needs and the over-molds on both ends fit the ports you’re connecting to, you can’t go wrong with this cable to mirror or connect your device to a TV or monitor. It’s a handy travel companion to watch your device’s videos on the room’s big screen with a single simple connection.

I really like this Insignia™ - 6’ 8K Ultra HD USB-C to HDMI 2.1 Braided Cable. There's nothing I love more than plug and play. I'm currently using this for connecting my MacBook, iPad, and iPhone to my monitor. Pros: - The braided cable is a really nice touch (literally) and the flexibility is great. I've had so many cables that feel stiff and cheap - this definitely isn't one of them. - Color accuracy is spot on. I do a decent amount of design work and this is more important than you think for creative professionals. - 6' is the perfect length for my use. I tend to find cables longer and shorter than this to be quite frustrating to work with. 6' really is the sweet spot. - The overall build quality is top-notch. I don't doubt that I'll be using this cable for a long time. Con: - There's really only one con that I see and I know other reviewers have mentioned it as well. The head of the HDMI side is a bit long and I can see how in some applications it could easily get snagged or bumped. That being said, I also understand why it needs to be this way. They have to put the hardware for transferring the signal somewhere and this is really the best option. You're more likely to be disconnecting and reconnecting the USB side more often and that's the side of the cable you really want to be as small as possible. Also, if the HDMI side was shorter and wider, you may run into issues with being able to plug in multiple HDMI cables to the back of a TV or monitor. While most people won't be able to take advantage of the 8K Ultra HD, the capability is there. I would love to see a 120Hz option in the future - Especially since it's already HDMI 2.1!

    A solid premium feeling cable.

Not a lot really needs to be said. This is a standard USB Type-C to HDMI cable. But it has some standout points that make it nice. Both connectors have a solid aluminum housing, and the cable itself is a nice and thick as well as braided. All this together makes the whole package feel premium and like it will last a good while. As most of the circuitry is in the HDMI side, that connector is a little long so it may not fit in some places depending on where your HDMI ports are located or how you have your TV/Monitors mounted. Tested with a variety of devices including phone, tablet, and multiple laptop computers, Worked great on each both directly to a monitor/tv, as well as through a capture card. This is going into my everyday carry, as other adapters I have do not work with every device I use frequently, and this has worked great. in each situation I have used it in. The only real downside to using this with a phone or tablet is that you can't charge the device at the same time. I don't think this will be an issue though. Most of the time I think I'll be done with whatever I was doing by the time charging is needed. But It's a thought to plan ahead if you know you will need to plug in a tablet to share its screen for a presentation or whatever else, make sure you charge ahead of time.

    Finally USB-C to HDMI!

I am always impressed with Insignia cables and this one is great! At work and at home, I often need to use my large screen TV to show information to several people. Until I had this cable, I had to codge together two or three "transformer" pieces to connect cables together and then connect to my laptop or tablet (USB-C convert to USB A, add in a transfer to hdmi, then hdmi cable...) Now, it's seamless! I can go directly from the TV or second monitor to my laptop or tablet. I often give presentations to large groups and hooking up to the display is now easier than ever. I also got to use this cable in a hotel room to mirror my office laptop (tiny screen!) to the hotel TV and was able to do split screen viewing without damaging my eyes! On the practical side, this cable is not flimsy or cheaply made. The cable itself is covered with a braided fabric cover, The cable is sturdy and unlikely to kink. Each of the ends which connect have long bases, making it easy to grasp and to insert or remove the cable without having to resort to yanking the actual cable/wire (which shortens the life of the cable). I recommend you get one or two today to have on hand!

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. As there isn't a whole lot to a cable like this. TESTING: On my Windows Laptops with Thunderbolt 4 ports I was able to get 4K, 144 Hz, with 10-bit and HDR on my 4K 144 Hz monitor 2.1 HDMI monitor. On my HDMI 2.1 120 Hz TV I was able to get 4K, 144 Hz, HDR. On MacBook Air M3 I was able to get 4K 60 Hz on both. Colors, sharpness, etc. all looked great without any problems. BUILD QUALITY: Cable is braided. Comes with metal ends. Looks like they went with silver instead of gold. But the inside pins are gold. HDMI side does get warm. Which tends to be the norm that I see with HDMI these days. The calbe is also quite flexible. Goes in and out of things well with a good grip. CONCLUSION: Overall, great price for added functionality of your laptop paired with monitor/tv. Or whatever else you could think of. Do keep in mind that you need both devices to support HDMI 2.1 to get the full functionality of this device. Otherwise, you will be limited by the device that has the lowest spec.

    Works as Described

There’s not a lot to cord reviews. They either work as described or they don’t. Key Features 6’ long cable Cable is braided. Not too stiff, but also not flimsy. Metal ends USB-C end and HDMI 2.1 on other end. One Year Limited Warranty Display Output (per Best Buy’s website) 8K @ 60 Hz 8K @ 30 Hz 4K @ 60 Hz 2K @ 60 Hz *Note that the packaging only shows 8K @ 60 Hz My Testing The way that I am using this cable is to extend a display from my laptop to my TV (used as a desktop monitor). The laptop has a 4080 GPU and the TV is a new 43” 4K @ 120 Hz with HDMI 2.1 inputs. My Impressions Using It • Quality seems to be pretty good. Color depth is full. Picture is clear and sharp. • Works well for production activities and web surfing. Does a good job with lower refresh rate gaming. • May have some trouble with games that need a higher refresh rate. I tried a more demanding game and did see some stutter in the intro. Once I was into the game, I did not notice it as much. • The HDMI plug housing is very large. The housing excluding the HDMI plug is 2 inches long. I could see this potentially being an issue for some TV’s not having enough space to plug the cord into. Conclusion Overall I’m happy with the Insignia cable. It does what it says it will do. My only two issues are the size of the HDMI housing and that it may not support high-refresh rate gaming as well as I’d like. I’m giving this product 4.5 stars officially. Since Best Buy’s star system doesn’t allow half stars, I’ll mark it as 4 stars.

I’ve always had good experiences with Insignia cables, and this one is no different. At work and home, I often need to connect my laptop or tablet to a big screen TV for presentations or just to share content. Before getting this, I had to use multiple adapters—USB-C to USB-A, then an HDMI converter, and so on. It was a hassle. This cable makes everything so much easier. Now, I can hook up my laptop or tablet directly to a second monitor or TV without any extra adapters. I even used it in a hotel to mirror my laptop to the TV, which made working on a small screen way more manageable. The quality is solid, too. It has a braided fabric cover that makes it feel durable, and the connectors have long bases that are easy to grip, so you’re not yanking on the cable itself when unplugging it. Definitely worth having one (or even a spare) on hand!

Works well and is easy to use.A USB-to-HDMI adapter is a convenient and affordable way to connect a computer to an external monitor, projector, or TV when no HDMI port is available. They’re great for everyday use like web browsing, streaming, or office work, and most are plug-and-play with USB 3.0 for smoother performance. However, they can be limited in resolution (often capped at 1080p or 4K at 30Hz), may introduce slight lag, and aren’t ideal for gaming or heavy graphics tasks. Overall, they’re a practical solution for adding extra displays, but not a replacement for native HDMI or high-end docking stations.
