Was looking for a reasonable price point on a microwave for my office. This has been an excellent choice. Love the trigger button on the handle that needs to be pressed in order to open. Default "express cooking" is very practical since we usually move pretty fast when doing things. 10/10 recommend!

We purchased this microwave "open box." When we got it home and set up, it did not work at all. I wish they had done a better job of inspecting before reselling it.

This Insignia microwave is convenient and easy to use, making it perfect for small kitchens and apartments. Its compact size offers .7 cubic feet of cooking space and it comes with a 10 inch glass tray. In addition to the number pad, the control panel features a digital clock, 6 cooking presets, two defrosting settings, a cook time button, power button, clock button, kitchen timer, and start and stop buttons. To open the door you have to push a trigger which can take some time to get used to. I found myself pulling the door a few times without pushing the trigger. I understand the concept, which can also serve as a security measure for those with small children. Just like any other microwave just place the food in the tray and start cooking. The buttons 1 through 6 serve as quick timers. For example, to heat something for three minutes, simply press the number 3. For anything above six min you need to use the cooking time button. The power level ranges from 1 through 10, and is already at 10 by default. It heats up the food very well and the noise level is about average as any other microwave. This microwave is 700 watts, it might require a bit more time to cook compared to higher wattage microwaves. For instance, I have a 950-watt microwave drawer that heats a leftover meal from the fridge in about three minutes. With this microwave I do it in 5 minutes and it comes out burning, which is the way I like it. Overall this microwave is great for small kitchens and apartments. It is very well constructed, lightweight, and works very well. It is easy to use and is inexpensive. In the box you get the microwave, 10 inch glass tray, tray spinner and user guide.

Worst microwave I’ve ever used can’t believe I can leave something in the microwave for three minutes and it still comes out cold.

The Insignia .7 Cu Ft Compact Countertop microwave fit nicely on the small countertop area I was considering it for. If my grandson doesn’t end up taking it for his dorm room, it also fits easily on top of the minifridge in my home office so there are options on where to place it. The microwave isn’t heavy at all so it can easily be moved from one place to another. Setup was very basic and only took about 5 minutes from unboxing to installing the turntable to programming the clock. The included manual gives operating instructions and button and setting descriptions. It was good to see an actual printed manual instead of having to scan a QR code, go to a website, or watch a video for a change. The LED display is bright, and the buttons are easy to read. I can do without the gray door release button that’s part of the handle design, though. I know Insignia says it’s to help make the microwave more childproof, but it doesn’t make it easy for arthritic hands either. Being that this is a compact microwave, it’s not surprising that the inside is small, but it is little smaller than expected. A standard bag of microwave popcorn may stop rotating on the turntable because it begins to touch the side walls as it expands, and a plate larger than 8-10 inches is a tight fit. There’s nothing remarkable about its heating strength but it does get the job done at 700 watts. It takes 95 seconds to heat a cup of tea and I love that memory settings can be programmed for a most microwaved item like that cup of tea. Overall, this microwave serves its purpose, is lightweight, and would be great for a dorm room, small office, truck cab or RV.

The manual gives instructions on how to set the clock, what everything means, and it’s easy to put the turntable in. Noise level This has to be the quietest microwave I’ve ever had. It’s super quiet. Power levels There are 10 power levels with multiples of 10, for example, level 10 is at 100% power, while level 6 is at 60% power. There are also options for multi-stage cooking, so you can set it up to cook at different power levels. I used this to defrost frozen bacon. The first stage was defrost, and the second stage is to cook it. The memory feature is super cool. You can program the microwave to memorize the information for the items you cook most, including multi-stage cooking. Display The display is very bright green. It’s a good size, so no issues with seeing it day or night. It shows the time while in standby mode, and shows the information about cooking time and information about the cooking settings. Cleaning is easy, as it comes with instructions on cleaning each part of the microwave safely. I would recommend this microwave.
