I received a Victrola as a gift so I could play radio, c.d., and vinyl, and the supposed value was approximately $175. It worked less than a year, and with no warranty insurance extension purchased by the gift giver, it feels like a waste of a product. Considering where the company manufacturers this externally fun looking but internally inept audio product, and how also the U.S. doesn't provide replacement parts because of who sources the victrola, I decided to never spend more than $40 on another piece of audio junk made in the same country. A quality turntable is in my longview, but as someone who needs to listen to music every day, I opted to give this $29.99 Insignia boombox a whirl, so I could at least access radio and c.d., while the vinyl patiently awaits my budgeting it an outlet for source into my life. It has only been a month since I purchased this Insignia boombox, so it's dubious to whether a 4 star review will hold up past a year, but so far, it works, and it's very lightweight, and charges by plug in and battery both. I did purchase insurance at a reasonable cost of an additional $10, so that if it spontaneously fails in less than 2 years, I can exchange it for another one. So for $40 I know I will -at minimum- have c.d.'s playing and radio for two years or more. The sound is good and the speakers provide the fill of my home if I desire it. Added bonus : I recommend a device like this for anyone with rambunctious pets or small children. You can put it up high out of their reach and move it quickly if need be. It's also a relief to not have to sweat the possibility of more than a $40 loss if any damage to it occurs bc of little ones--four-legged, or two! :)

Super easy to use, mobile, and good sound! Love the repeat function and ability to set a timer. Lots of functions and lightweight. Easy to take outside while gardening or to the garage to work.

I needed a little boombox for my garage that was affordable. This fits the bill exactly. The sound is surprisingly good for the size and price, plays all my cds, normal as well as burned, and the radio worked fine the few times i tried to use it. Only issue I have had is needing to remember that the CD will not register unless you press the cd onto the spindle in the player. a bit less auto than expected, but for the price no real issue.

Small, easy to use with plenty of features. Cranks up pretty well.

Good buy for the price. Sound is very good. It is easy to use, once a person learns which buttons to press for the various functions. It would be helpful to have larger buttons as well as larger print on the instructions.

This fit our needs. We wanted something that could play CDs and the radio. We just started using it. It is fairly simplistic to operate and an easy size to carry. The sound is sufficient for filling the room or taking with you while you play ball at the court.

For my money it delivers the goods. Wanted a replacement to play CDs. Player on big boom box died. Sound quality is good, pickup of my favorite FM and AM stations is better than on my big boom box. Being portable I take it to the laundry room to listen while washing clothes. I use the headphone jack a lot. Only drawback are the small buttons, hard to read what they are for.

The sound quality is great and the volume can go quite loud. The buttons work well. The antenna movement is as smooth as the cream cheese on your bagel. It is exactly what my daughter wanted. It was so easy to use, she didn't have to read the instructions to figure it out. She would give it 6 stars if it was purple and cherry scented.

It was a gift from my mom. I love that it has a dial for volume (on the side). I'm very surprised I'm getting such great radio reception! Very clear! Great CD sound, too! Very lightweight! Only thing is that the handle seems flimsy and it would probably take a lot of 1.5 Volt batteries if you took it camping or something. Doesn't seem to have any bass or genre options. Sounds pretty awesome, though! Definitely not what I expected from a boombox. LOL! But I grew up in the 80's. It's just what I needed!

My disc changer in my truck died and I couldn't find anyone who could fix it before I started a long road trip. I have albums and albums full of books on disc. I went looking for an inexpensive ac/battery boom box for my trip. This is light weight, easy to operate even while driving and was not expensive. It gives good sound even for my music discs. I am VERY satisfied.

Very pleased with layout of controls (all on front except volume) and operation. Very much like digital display radio tuner. Volume is good for small and medium room even without bass boost--sound quality on CDs is fine. Excellent value for price--better than the more expensive item it is replacing.

I bought the Insignia CD Boombox for my elderly mom who likes to listen to music in her garden. I bought the unit because it is compact, lightweight, and easy for her to carry. I liked that the CD player had a lot of extra features such as AM/FM, auxiliary input, and it can work on batteries or plug in. I give this unit 2 stars because all of the features work, barely. Unfortunately, the Insignia CD Boombox does not meet our needs. The idea was for mom to listen to music outside without having to carry her laptop, or a bunch of CDs while still having the ability to play CDs or connect to an iPhone when indoors. It was supposed to be easy to just carry the unit and listen to radio. The problem is that the receiver is poor on this unit. Am gets only a couple of stations and when on FM only one station comes in totally clear without static. I have a handheld radio for emergencies, and it gets all the local AM and FM stations clearly. Mom had a similar Insignia CD player before that performed well and lasted for years but this unit is a loser from the get-go.

The radio had pretty good reception as it has an antenna you can adjust to get reception. The CD player worked fine. Has a compact size. The biggest negative is it has a very treble sound to it and no way to adjust for any base. Haven't had it long enough to say how well it holds up. For the price it's a pretty good deal.

My 13 year-old grandson loves to listen to music but didn't have a radio. He would take my phone and I wasn't getting any of my calls or texts because he always had my phone when he was playing his Xbox. I went on bestbuy.com and this was on sale and the tone is great it gets great reception he just loves it because he can play CDs. He loves the old music so I had some CDs from way back when and he plays those but I think he likes the radio part the best. it's not the biggest boombox in the world but the tone is great everything is great about it I would recommend this product.

I bought this to use to play cd's in my home office. I was pleased with the sound for such a small and inexpensive unit. But I tend to play music at somewhat low volume and don't like a booming bass. Definitely not for someone who's more of an audiophile.
