I liked that it played really well with my phone and the other devices I tested inside the house but it wasn’t so great outside. I knew it wouldn’t of been as loud due to open space but I really couldn’t enjoy the music as much. Well the event I brought it for is done and I love using it in my bathroom to get me in a good mood while I shower. It’s loud enough to cover my bad singing, so that’s a plus. And my 3yr old loves dancing and singing with it as well.

I enjoyed a couple of weeks of playing golf with my son-in-law in the Lake Charles Louisiana area a couple of months ago. I found it interesting that nearly everyone in a golf cart on those courses had a portable speaker bluetoothed to their mobile device enjoying music between shots. Rather than being distracting as I would have thought as a traditional golfer, it lightened the atmosphere and I found it relaxing and enjoyable. So when I returned to the Washington Metro Area I decided to pick up one I could use. I didn't want to spend too much as it'll likely get banged around a bit bouncing in a golf cart or thrown in my golf bag and probably get exposed to the elements as I play in the rain, snow, etc. So when I saw this on sale for less than $30 and the reviews looked pretty good I nabbed one. In addition to the price and reviews I liked the fact that this unit provided the ability to charge other devices - blue-toothing an iphone for a 5 hour round of golf while using an iphone app to determine yardage to the hole can drain the phone's battery fairly quickly so I figure this bit would come in handy. So how do I like it? For the price it's hard to complain so I won't. The unit seems pretty rugged. It seems like it'll be fine in the weather. It's certainly heavy enough to not bounce around too much. The neon colors available make it less likely that I'll accidentally leave it behind somewhere. The device charging piece works well. It's quite easy to use. In terms of sound quality, it's OK. Make no mistake, this is not a Bose speaker. A lot more bass would be nice. Having the ability to tune the bass/treble, etc would be nice. The volume range is adequate for riding in a golf cart or playing music on a deck table while you smoke a cigar and drink a beer. The sound will not fill a room. You won't be using this instead of your Sonos or to power your party. I'd view it as a portable personal speaker. OK, I said I wouldn't complain but I'll offer two improvements they might make that would make it a 3+. 1) the "buttons" on top of the unit control the volume, allow you to answer the phone or make a call, etc. The buttons have the normal symbols on them +, -, >>, <<, but they're the same color as the rest of the unit so they're very difficult to see (especially if you're not right on top of the unit and/or don't have your reading glasses on). I used a little black magic marker on my neon red speakers to fill in the indentations for the symbols .... it's not 'pretty' but it makes it much more user friendly. 2) Every time you change the volume the darn thing BEEPS. I say BEEPS in caps because it's a loud beep for every push of the button or touch of the volume slider on your iphone. THIS is quite annoying. How about a smooth change in volume without the darn beep! So, depending on what you're looking for this may or may not be a unit that interests you. While it's adequate for me and my purpose I would have been disappointed if I had paid more than the $29 or whatever it was that I paid. So when I check the "would recommend to a friend" I would also give him or her the caveats discussed here.

I had the smaller version and wanted a fuller sound portable bluetooth speaker, but i did not want to spend a lot. The small version lacked bass & was ok at low to medium volume. In my research, i saw there was a larger version (a.k.a,Insignia Brick) which also could charge devices. When i got the Insignia Brick, i did my due diligence, as i always do with ALL my speakers (Mirage, Polk Audio, Paradigm, Bose, NHT, UE Boom, JBL) and take the time to break them in by playing the speaker at low volume for 40 hours. Many people make the mistake of cranking up the speaker to almost max volume as soon as they get it. IMO, you are overloading the speaker reflex, which in the long run will make the speaker sound distorted. I listen to a various types of genre so here is my feedback on the speaker. All types of music (jazz, piano, country, pop, heavy metal, rock, grunge, dubstep) sound great at low-to-medium volume. From medium-to-high volume, jazz, piano, soft country, still sound good. Medium-to-high volume does a descent job filling a 19ft x 14ft room. However, dont expect to feel like your at a dance club or rock concert. Unfortunately, heavy metal, rock, some pop songs, grunge, and dubstep sound a little muffled and lack some high treble tones. Dont get me wrong, it is not terrible, but dont expect crisp clarity or solid bass at high volumes. This is still a very good speaker to have with a couple of friends and music in the background, but dont expect a kareoke night. I love the portability of these speakers. I have other portable speakers, but this is perfect during my hotel stays on my business trip. It is 100% better than the iHome speakers typically in the hotels. I love my large UE BOOM speaker, but it is larger than what i want to you pack in my suit case. FYI, the UE BOOM that is not compatible with Alexa sounds so much better than the new UE Boom that works with Amazon Alexa. Hope this helps!!!!

I use the speaker together with my laptop, as at times the volume of my laptop is not sufficient. I'm satisfied with the strength of volume in the speaker, and so far the bluetooth hasn't given me much trouble. It isn't as effective distance-wise as I thought it'd be, however, and works better if it's within say, 4 meters, with no obstruction in between. Also, it's true that when the battery begins to wane, it makes alarm sounds that don't quit until it has recharged a bit. However, it does work while it's hooked up to the computer to recharge, and the battery lasts for days when it IS charged. I also did use the speaker to charge my phone on one occasion and it worked great.

It is pretty loud and sounds good. like that it can charge my phone. The battery stays charged for a long time. The only thing I would have to say is that the Bluetooth distance does not go very far. Cuts off after being some few feet away. Very inexpensive so didn’t mind spending that money.

Review of Insignia - Portable Bluetooth Stereo Speaker Fairly good speaker. Good overall sound and bass. Sound it not great but good. Unit can be quite loud. My only gripe with this speaker is that it has loud musical chimes every time you turn it off and on. It also chimes when the battery gets low. That is really irritating if it happens at night. At least it is not as annoying as some BT speakers which have a voice announcement. This one does not. You can also somewhat cover the speaker when you turn it on and off muffling the chimes. They are still loud though. Not tested: the ability to charge other devices from its internal battery. Nice feature though.

I use this speaker to improve the sound on my tablet, for audio books and music. I generally have problems using Bluetooth, but this speaker is easy to connect to. Sound is clear and uncolored. It has lots of volume. Being portable it fits easily in my backpack. Being battery powered, it is easy to set up. Turn on the speaker. Turn on the tablet bluetooth. Done. Let’s be honest, though. If you are looking for a speaker to get a whole room of people dancing, you will want something bigger and with stronger bass. But for any normal listening this works fine. Excellent value for the price.

Picked this speaker up for basically the cost of taxes as I had some rewards to use and it was on sale for $10. What a pleasant surprise, sound quality is better than expected and achieves a nice volume level without distorting. Has a nice solid feel to it and pairs very quickly and easily while staying connected at a pretty fair distance. I am not sure how many hours I have used it to this point, I know its been quite a few but I have not had to charge it yet, fantastic battery life! If you want an inexpensive solid performing speaker for around the pool, yard etc does a great job.

I came home with a purple small purple speaker that I had bought during a 4-hour sale and my dad was so intrigued by it that he wanted one for himself. I got mine for $10, yet he didn't mind paying $20 for one of his own. However, when we got to the store, he saw a superior one with a power bank and extended battery life for only $10 more. So, he went for it and I was surprised by the speaker myself. It appears to be louder than mine and produces some pretty decent sound. It's an excellent speaker for personal use, but I wouldn't recommend it for a party or for open areas, because it's not that powerful.

I love this speaker. It is sleek looking with a great sound. It is much louder than I expected which is great! It connects very easily via Bluetooth to my phone. I bought another one for my kitchen. The only thing I don't love is that it will start beeping every minute when the battery is getting low which is kind of annoying. I wish it only beeped once or twice and not consistently every minute until it dies. But, it doesn't die fast so as long as you keep it charged it is amazing. I would say I get at least 10 hours on a charge. Can't beat the price.

Great speaker that is LOUD when needed. I love that it's waterproof because I keep in the bathroom and reach out to change the track if needed. I also like that the speaker serves as a portable battery pack if you're ever in dire need to recharge something. Only problem is sometimes you have to reconnect your device with the bluetooth. But it's still a great speaker for the price.

Good sound for size, great volume, and I can be a good distance away. I got this as a test to see how much I would use a Bluetooth speaker and have used it more than I thought I would. The battery has not been charged and I've used it for over 20 hrs. The quality is better than I expected and I don't see the need to upgrade in the near future.

This is a fantastic deal -- excellent stereo sound, plenty loud volume and it doubles as a phone charger! What more can you ask for? I used it for a business trip when I was driving a company car without bluetooth. I was able to hear it just fine over the road noise -- sounded great for phone calls, music, audiobooks and podcasts!

This Bluetooth speaker sounds as good or better than units costing much more. Its got good volume and nice bass for it's size. We love to use it when we're camping. It's great for listening to tunes around the he campfire without disturbing all of our neighbors. I loved it so much that I bought a second one for the house.

I purchased this small speaker to use at work to play streaming music from my smartphone. Having a standard USB charging port made it even more attractive, since I could easily keep it charged from the multi-port station on my desk. I found that getting into the plastic box it comes in was the most difficult thing about set-up. It was virtually a "vacuum fit" and I was just about to use a hammer when the vacuum released and I got to the speaker inside. It comes with a charging cord and very thorough instructions. It sounds great and is capable of really LOUD volume without significant distortion. I can't play it that way in my office environment, though! The only thing that kept me from giving this little gem a 5-star rating is that the controls on the top of the speaker are all black-on-black and not easily used without some practice to learn which control is which. The controls and inputs on the back are clearly marked, however, so that's a real benefit!

Needed a Bluetooth speaker to use in the bathroom while I shower in the morning so that I could hear traffic before I leave. Please note: it sits on the counter, it is not waterproof. Great volume, clarity, and battery life. The price point was perfect and the quality is great! We bought two more for our kids in college.

The speaker can get really loud and contains a lot of base too. It feels extremely durable and is made with rubber so it won’t break if you drop it. Overall the sound quality is good and the build quality is excellent! I really like Insignia products now!

For a small speaker, this one really puts out a great sound. The bass is not super strong but I new that going in. Fairly loud too. I bought this to use in a remodel project and it is loud enough to hear across the house. (We set it in the middle room) Easy paring to both phones and my Samsung tablet.

I love this speaker, My mini jawbone (1st gen) went out and I needed a quick and cheap replacement. This insignia portable speaker was the perfect replacement, sound is very good and it's pretty loud, battery life is pretty good too I use it for about 2-3hrs a day and the charge lasts me 3 1/2 days
