    It works, function over form!

Overall happy with this remote. This remote does exactly what it is set out to do. It is incredibly easy to set up. And it works at the end of the day. If you’re looking for a replacement, this will work very well. I used it on my Hisense U8N TV. The setup process literally, press and hold the “A” and “C” button for a few seconds, then press and hold the power button until your TV turns off and that’s it. It worked great for me! The remote does offer some macro functions, but I didn’t get it to work properly because I wasn’t in the same place all the time. I would consider this a non-feature. But maybe you can get that to work. All the core function buttons on the Hisense remote and the Insignia remote worked and were pretty parallel. Up is up, home is home, exit exits, Live TV brings up the tuner, etc. So not a bad remote by any means. The menu button on the Hisense remote is the “square grid” button under the C button on the Insignia. However you will lose out on the microphone option, you’ll also lose the preset app buttons, and unfortunately the programmable button on the Hisense remote which I have it set to launch Apple TV (the set top box). The other thing you lose out on is the look and feel. Like I said in the title, this isn’t a form over function situation, it’s the opposite, it’s very ugly. Not only is it ugly, it also feels cheap, very light and mushy buttons. No bluetooth functionality, and you HAVE TO point it at the TV! That said, if you’re in a pinch and need a working remote, this WILL do the job. I docked a star because it feels cheap and could use a better design.

The QUICK SET UP GUIDE helped me establish an uncomplicated connection between an INSIGNIA Replacement Remote and my TV, an Android HiSENSE flat screen. For my senior level of visual acuity, the Team's selection of a high contrast format with black font on a white field made for an easy read. Instructions EN ESPANOL are on the back side of the fold out. For HiSENSE owners with collateral enhancements, the printed guide includes instructions for setting up VOLUME CONTROL for Sound Bars, Audio Receivers, and/or Speakers.   IR LEARNING affords linkage between your old and new remote. Included are steps to MACRO LEARNING to establish Shortcut Buttons. FACTORY RESET is easy if a clean slate is required to disentangle too many wrong turns during set up. Customer Service is 877 467 4289 if additional guidance is required. Bear in mind this unit does NOT have a backlit touch pad. My fault that I expected a 2025 remote to be backlit. The feature would be an upgrade in convenience from my old unit.  Missing that feature is my only disappointment. So, a dark room for theatre-mode viewing still requires a separate light source --- a headlamp, a phone, flashlight, or other option --- to manage the remote, especially necessary to avoid "stumble bum" button screw ups that inadvertently lose the channel or create some other havoc. A backlit keyboard may not be important to other consumers but missing that feature was my only disappointment. All other operations functioned without obstacle: easy battery installation, automatic remote to HiSense TV connection, a user friendly keypad layout for high legibility and easy navigation as well as a lightweight but durable hand. The warranty is ONE YEAR for this INSIGNIA product trademarked by BEST BUY.

Good alternative to OEM remote control replacement

The Insignia remote control is specially programmed to work with Hisense TVs. In the box, along with the remote control, you get AAA batteries and a quick start guide. I did notice how much thicker it is compared to the original Hisense remote control. Once I inserted the batteries, I expected it to work with my Hisense TV right away, but it did not. The good news is that programming the remote control is a simple process. Before you start, make sure your Hisense TV is on. All you have to do is hold down the A and C buttons until the power button LED blinks twice and stays on. After that, point the remote at your Hisense TV and hold down the power button until the TV powers off. Once this happens, immediately release the power button. There is only a three-second window before it shuffles to the next code. If done successfully, the TV should power back on, and you should be able to operate basic TV functions like volume up and down and changing the channel. If some functions are not working—for example, the mute button—there is an IR learning process that uses your original Hisense TV remote control. To begin, hold down the B and C buttons until the power LED blinks twice and stays on. Press the button you want to program on the Insignia remote (for example, the mute button), and the power LED should blink rapidly. Next, press the corresponding button on the original remote control. If done successfully, the button should work normally. Believe it or not, there is also a macro feature that allows you to store up to 15 steps. This lets you program the remote to open a specific app, which can be mapped to the A, B, or C button. The Insignia remote control does include some smart features and the ability to learn commands from the original remote. However, there are some drawbacks when comparing it to the original Hisense remote that came with my TV: there is no backlight, it is larger and thicker, and the buttons feel stiff when pressed. Overall, I would still recommend it if you are looking for a more affordable option than buying a new original Hisense remote control, especially since it works right out of the box once programmed.

Timing was perfect for getting the Insigniia Replacement Remote as the OEM remote that came with my Hisense TV was starting to act up and did not always function properly. Comparing the two remotes side by side they are pretty much identical in form factor and the button layout. The most noticeable difference would be the lack of the programmed/labeled buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Vudu and Google Play on the OEM remote. The Insignia Replacement Remote ships with 2 x AAA batteries, the setup guide and a list of audio codes for external components. Setup took less than a minute and was as easy as hitting a couple of buttons and then the power button. My Sony soundbar was easily setup as well and the remote was ready to go. I do use the Netflix and YouTube buttons so I did program those on the new remote. The included instructions are easy to follow and walk through set-by-step. After using the replacement for a week or so, I'd say it actually operates quicker than the original remote. As mentioned previously, the button layout is identical to the OEM remote so no need to learn any new buttons or locations. The feeling of the buttons is a bit squishier than the OEM remote, but that doesn't take away from the effectiveness. Pros: - Almost identical size and button layout as OEM remote - Programmable buttons for short cuts to Netflix, etc. - Easy to set up and use - Supports external audio sources Cons: - Buttons are a bit squishier compared to the OEM remote Overall I'm very happy with the Insignia Replacement Remote for Hisense TVs and would recommend it to anyone that needs a replacement remote.

    An excellent replacement remote

The Insignia replacement remote for Hisense TV's is a perfect choice for replacing you worn out or broken Hisense TV remote. It's layout is very similar to my original TV remote. I made the mistake thinking this remote could be used directly out of the box for my TV, but I quickly realized the remote must be paired to your TV before you can start using it. It's a fairly simple process that takes less than a minute after reading the very easy to follow instructions provided. You will be up and running in no time. This remote also allows you to program apps you would like to open by using the A, B, and C buttons. Programming these takes a bit more work, but the instructions are clear and easy to follow to get this done. The remote also allows you to setup macros, and also has a learning feature. I tried using the learning feature to learn the old remote's Netflix button to these buttons, but unfortunately it did not work for me. This remote is also capable of handling the volume control of a bunch of audio receivers, sound bars, or powered speakers. There is a list of codes associated with this feature included in the box. My TV is just using the built in speakers, so I was not able to test this feature, but it's good to know I have this capability in case I end up getting a soundbar in the future. The only drawback I've encountered about this remote is that it does not have the Google button for activating voice controls. It is a feature that I do use from time to time, and will not be able to with this remote. Overall it's an excellent remote for the price, and does almost everything I need it to do.

I was happy to see this Hisense TV replacement remote. We just got a new Hisense TV. Remote controls seem to hide themselves when you aren’t looking. So having a spare that is ready to go is good. This remote comes with batteries and an instruction sheet. Setup took less than a minute. With the TV on, point the remote at the TV, press the A and C buttons until the power button (on the remote) blinks twice. Then release the A and C buttons and press the power button. The TV goes off. I turned it back on with the remote and the buttons worked. It was about the easiest set up I’ve seen. As a bonus, the remote that came with the TV still works. So, when it hides in the couch cushions, I have the replacement one ready to go. The remote has easy to read buttons and you can program specific buttons straight from the original remote. The remote will also control your sound bar. In summary, this remote comes with everything you need. It is extremely easy to set up and is very responsive. At the current price it is a real bargain.

Ave3rage good replacement for broken / lost remote

The remote is neatly packaged. Batteries and start guides / code sheet are included. It is compatible with Hisence TV's, and since it is a learning remote, should be able to be programmed for other TV's as well. The paring is simple and straightforward. It is touted to be capable of learning IR and macro functions for other devices. The remote fits well in your hand – but is quite a bit larger than the original remote. Also can also be used to control a sound bar, and there is an included list of audio codes. After automatically searching, installing and connecting to the TV, the functions seemed to work same as the original remote. However, the number pad did not work for directly inputting OTA channels. It still requires scanning the entire list from the beginning. The actual buttons had a long / deep travel, and I found sometimes when I thought I had activated a function, I actually had not. Then had to press harder to activate a function. This may be a personal preference, and others may like it..... For the price, I find this seem to be an average remote, and has similar capabilities as many in the price range. It certainly is compatible with Hisense – and other TV's / devices – and would be a good replacement if the original remote is lost or broken.

    "okay" replacement remote

What got me excited I can’t honestly say that I was “excited” about a replacement remote, but I will say that I was relieved to have a backup in the event that my oem one gives out. What I’m expecting I’m expecting it to pair easy with my tv, and work just as well. What’s included in the packaging? Out of the box you get the remote and 2 inserts. My first impressions The remote’s button layout is different from the oem, and it doesn’t have the streaming shortcuts. The dimensions are almost identical to the oem. Let’s try it out Pairing this thing took a few tries. (Mostly because I skimmed the quick start guide, and didn’t follow the instructions exactly). The buttons have a slightly different feel. The buttons sit higher on the remote, and the buttons feel a bit looser when pressed. Some of the buttons didn’t work until I went through the process of mapping it out. You will need your old remote to map the new one. I don’t think there’s an option to map the new one without the old, so if you just lost it, then… no mapping for you? I do miss the streaming shortcuts. The power button is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes two tries. What stood out that was negative The tedious method of mapping your new remote using the old one. I wish there was just an app that could be used to do it faster. Some things I wish (What can be included in the next version and what I would take out) Make it easier to map. Include at least 2 free AAA batteries. All in all It’s an okay remote. As a replacement it does it’s job. As a total replacement it fails to hit the mark. If it wasn’t so tedious to teach the new remote the same old tricks the oem one did, I would have given it a higher score. It’s missing some of the functionality of the oem remote.
