After looking at the prices for Sony brand replacement remotes we decided to try out this insignia instead which was about half the price. Setup couldn't have been easier, I simply opened the package and the remote was already ready to go. It looks nice enough and performs all the functions necessary to use our television. Understandably the remote doesn't do any special functions specific to our tv however, there is no microphone for the voice commands, no button to access the discovery bar, and many of the special buttons on this remote don't seem to correspond to anything in particular. I know it's difficult to make a universal remote that does lots of tv specific features but considering this is one for just Sony tv's it would be nice if the buttons were programmable or setup to perform common Sony functions. We're using this on a 2017 Bravia 4k, so if you have that just know you'll have slightly limited functionality. Otherwise great deal if you just need something to make the tv work like we did (open box tv from Best Buy).

I needed a replacement remote for my Sony tv - and this has worked out extremely well. It was a very good buy.

In the past, I bought an expensive top-notch multiple-device universal remote which I planned to use for more than 1 device. But I found out that the problem was that you needed to annoyingly re-program the remote w something like an 8-key command each time you changed the batteries. So if you only wanted to remove & test the batteries you had to do this every time. The other problem was that many of the keys on the new remote did not correspond w the keys on the original tv remote so you had to learn a whole new remote & guess which keys on the new remote performed the various functions. In addition, the replacement remote would not perform some of the specialized tv functions. You also have to key in the company code(egs. the Sony code) into universal remotes. This replacement remote however, is not a universal remote, but a Sony clone remote. It has almost an exactly similar look, feel & layout as my original Sony remote & in fact, it is meant to be a Sony remote replacment. There is no programming necessary; it's good to go right out of the box. And the keys on the replacement correspond almost exactly w the original remote. You might even mistake one remote control for the other. After using it for a few mos, it has been excellent & I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I needed to. I highly recommend this product.

It works as advertised and was a good choice for our situation. This was to replace the original remote that was lost during our move. This is an adequate replacement but it does not have a few features that were on the original like a netflix button, but I didn't remove any stars for that because I knew it didn't have that button when I purchased it. I would make the same purchase again. I gave it four stars instead of five because it is just hard to get excited about a remote.

my sony remote went out on me and this one jumped right in and was programmed in a matter of seconds with all working great. love it.

Is easy to use. Was already programmed for my tv. Button are good size, easy to use and quality of remote is great.

I bought a house that came with a Sony TV but no remote. I got this to use the TV without having to use the buttons on the unit itself. I assumed there’d be a setup to it, but straight from the box it worked like a charm. Love this remote, but couldn’t compare it to an actual OEM Sony TV remote.

Surprisingly working great with Sony Bravia and it controls the Samsung DVD player as well. Compare buying the original and other brands that cost $$$, this is it! Thanks Insignia. I may want to get a second one for the other TVs at home. I did not have to do the learning functions step process to sync with the TV, it just worked out of the box.

We have been doing remodeling in our condo, such that my TV was in a box for months. When we moved back in and I got the TV out of the box, I couldn't find my remote. So in the car we drove to Best Buy and bought this remote. It worked immediately, no programming or anything to connect it to the TV. I was very happy and have been using it since.

I can’t believe I didn’t purchase a remote like this earlier. I misplaced my Sony remote a couple years back and my TV needed updating. I purchased this remote and it works perfectly!!! I’m using it on a 7 year old Sony television.

Okay, I admit it, when it comes to TV watching, my bride and I have 'control' issues. My elegant and inexpensive solution: purchase a spare TV remote from Best Buy, then let her select what she wants. When she falls asleep I change it to sports with my spare remote. We're both happy, now...

It worked seamlessly with my Sony Bravia X900E 65 inch tv. I bought that TV open box and it didn't include a remote, so hooray for this. One thing it is lacking, is a microphone as the TV has google assistant integration..but there's no button to summon that easily and mic to hear you like with an Amazon Fire TV remote for example.

The replacement remote for my Sony TV worked well. Even though its not as convenient as the original remote it has all the functions and I am pleased with it. I would recommend the remote to anyone that needs a replacement

I bought this along with my Sony TV because the TV was open box and was missing the remote. The pro was that it worked immediately. No codes to punch in or anything like that. The con, well, frankly, I've used it maybe three times because the cable remote is universal and does the trick.
