Just what I needed!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went looking for a USB-C to ethernet adapter last minute yesterday. I saw one of these left in stock and took the plunge. It works exactly like expected for my MacBook Air (M2 2022). After plugging it in, I turned off my wifi and verified the USB LAN connection. I'm getting upload/download speeds identical to my plan (100mbps/100mbps) with minimal latency. No need to worry about laggy connections during internet exams or streaming. Would recommend. Also, note that the box design differs from what's shown here.

Lightning fast down/uploads
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Insignia USB-C ethernet adapter on the advice of my neighbor. I’ve been struggling with pitiful wifi 60 meg download and 27 meg upload speeds for years. Now with a Cat 6 ethernet cable and this adapter and no multiport hub, going straight into the back of my wired/wireless Verizon internet connection I am regularly experiencing downloads in excess of 700 megabytes and uploads over 850 megabytes per second on my HP Spectre laptop.

Works with iPad Air M3
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it to hook up my new IPad Air M3 to my home Ethernet network. It did not require any configuration of the client to access my network, which is set up for DHCP. As some reviews stated, sometimes it takes a few minutes for Ethernet to show up on Settings. Once it does, it has an Ethernet address assignment. If it doesn't show up, plug it back in again and it should appear in Settings.

Posted .Thanks for the detailed review! We're glad the adapter worked smoothly with your iPad Air M3 and DHCP setup. Your tip about replugging if Ethernet doesn’t show up right away is super helpful—thanks for sharing that with the community! Ivy | Insignia Support

A Must Have Adapter for Stable Internet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently decided to get an ethernet adapter for my laptops network connectivity and I'm pleased to share my experience with this handy little device. The Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter came ready to use, requiring no drivers or complicated installation. I simply plugged it into my Windows or Mac laptops into the USB-C port, connected an Ethernet cable, and I was good to go. It's truly a plug-and-play solution, which is great for those who want a hassle-free setup. The primary reason I got this adapter was to have a more reliable and stable internet connection for my laptops. My new office Wifi is not the greatest and was dropping Wifi connections constantly during video calls, and because newer laptops have decided to remove the ethernet port to make laptops smaller, this is a much needed adapter for anyone on the go and who wants a stable internet connection. My laptops which are several years older now do not have the best on board Wifi cards so I would get anywhere from 30 Mbps to 150 Mbps when on Wifi. But with this adapter I was able to get up to 500+ Mbps. The compact size of the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter is a significant advantage. It's small enough to fit into my backpack or even my pocket, making it a great companion for on-the-go professionals and travelers. This portability ensures that I can enjoy a wired connection wherever I am, regardless of the availability of Wi-Fi networks. This adapter's build quality is very impressive. It is sturdy and durable, made of a strong metal material and a nice braided cable designed to withstand the rigors of frequent use and travel. The cable itself is flexible yet resilient, and the USB-C connector fits securely into my laptop's port without any wobbling or disconnects. Another noteworthy aspect is the adapter's compatibility is that It works seamlessly with a wide range of other devices, such as the Nintendo Switch and cell phones providing them all with a fast and stable wired connection. This versatility makes it a valuable addition to my tech accessories. Overall, the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter has proven to be a valuable addition to my tech bag. It offers a reliable Ethernet connection, easy setup, portability, and compatibility with various devices, all at an affordable price point. I highly recommend this adapter to anyone in need of a dependable Ethernet connection for their USB-C devices.

Solid USB-C NIC (Realtek chipset)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With most laptops these days coming without an ethernet port, getting one that works with USB-C is a great alternative, and nice to just have in your bag for troubleshooting if a desktop's onboard NIC seems to have bit the dust. 1G is still the current standard, but will soon be replaced by 2.5G+ This insignia unit is way nicer/solid than other Insignia branded accessories I've had over the years. The aluminum construction over the unit itself and the USB-C connector feels great and robust, and the braided cable is nice. I tested the unit with a couple different PCs, Windows 11 picks it up right away and uses the correct drivers. I tested iperf3 from my main desktop using a 2.5G switch and 2.5G port. (obviously this unit is 1G, but I did this to make sure the bottleneck was fully on this unit) The test came back with pretty much the max a 1G unit can do, so no issues! Also tested a quick steam game download, and it easily pulled the full 300mbps my ISP sends my way. Easily recommended, solidly built and runs as fast as it should!

Works Great - Looks Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sometimes wandering around the office or being in different environments for presentations has its challenges. Whether you're using a Windows or Mac system, sometimes hardwiring into a network is necessary. This is especially true for me at work as using WiFi has some restrictions compared to being hardwired into the network. I've long had a USB-A to Ethernet adaptor, but with recent laptop upgrades, I am no longer able to use that adaptor without a conversion adapter because of USB-C laptops these days. Cue the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter. Firstly, this adapter looks very nice. It has a metal like appearance with a black braided cable. It matches my Space Gray MacBook Air M2 perfectly. I have been able to plug it into both my Windows and Mac laptops with no issues as I would expect with any plug-and-play device these days. There is an LED indicator light on the end where ethernet cables connect to let you know there's activity on the network. With a low price, super nice design, and simple-to-use approach, I can say this is one of the mainstay dongles in my messenger bag. If you need a ethernet adaptor for your USB-C device, then this is something you have to pick up - especially for road warriors.

Great to get your devices the best connection.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter is a very good way to get the best internet connection and speed to your device. You can play games at the maximum speed available from your incoming internet connection. All you have to do is hook the ethernet cable to the adapter, and the adapter to your device. I used this on my tablet and laptop, and it worked seamlessly. I did not have to download a single application to bit of software for this to work. It may be a small adapter, but it does a large amount of data transferring and super fast, or up to the amount of speed and data you have from your internet service provider. A wireless connection is good, no doubt, but to make sure that you are getting the best possible speed and data transfer rates, your best bet is to connect directly to the ethernet connection. It helps with game lagging, transferring data, backups to a remote cloud, videos and movies, online group meetings, and so much more. You will have to provide your own ethernet cable, as it does not come with one. I’d highly recommend this adapter for those of you who have devices without an available ethernet port.

Much Needed for Newer Laptops.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been needing to set up a WiFi repeater and my new laptop doesn’t have a CAT cable port. So when I got the opportunity to get the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet adapter I jumper on it. There’s no setup process it’s just plug and play. I plugged this adapter into my pc and then plugged in my Ethernet cable from my the adapter to the repeater and it made setting up my WiFi network a breeze. I like the fact that it did not require a setup process to use and that my pc recognized it immediately. Now I have the ability to use my pc with my router via a Ethernet cable and get even better internet speeds. This is a must when trying to game or upload huge video files. It seems to me like internet speeds when plugged directly into the router my speeds are much higher and things stream a lot better. So in my opinion, using this adapter is a plus in many ways and I will definitely be using it for playing pc games or uploading content. I’ll also use it for downloading large files. I 100% recommend getting this adapter.

Good Ethernet USB C converter but below par speed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop these days especially high end or sleek nowadays don't come with the Ethernet port as people are moving towards compact lightweight laptops. There is no surprise that both my personal laptops have Ethernet ports. It has been hassle at times when the Wifi connectivity is terrible. So I decided to buy an adapter which is USB C to Ethernet. I thought this will solve the below issues: 1. Inability to connect to wired instead of wireless - where i can use wired connection by connecting the Ethernet cable to USB C port 2. Speed - By switching from Wifi to Wired connection, I thought the speed will be more Did it really help me sort my above 2 issues? The answers are Yes and No Before I dive in deep into the details just wanted to review the few positive aspects of this adapter. Pros: 1. Wired connection for laptops without Ethernet adapter - Yes. This adapter fixes the problem where the newer versions of the laptops no longer come with an Ethernet port. With this adapter it is possible to connect the Ethernet cable (which is not included in the package) to the laptop using the USB-C cable. I have 2 laptops and I am really not worried about my laptop not containing the Ethernet port. 2. Wider compatibility - We can literally connect any device which run the following operating systems - Windows, MAC, Chrome OS, Android OS(Android phones and tablets), iOS (iPhones and iPads) 3. Plug and play - It is that easy. We have to follow only 3 simple steps - 1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the router. 2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Insignia USB C to Ethernet Adapter. 3. Connect the USB C to the Laptop, iMac, Phone or Tablet or iPad and get going. 4. Build quality - The Adapter is quite sturdy and is made of high quality material. The plastic never feels cheaply made. Insignia has done a great job with the design. Also the cable is braided. So one does not have to worry about the cable getting damaged ever. 5. Compact - This adapter is so lightweight and compact that I can carry it with me in my backpack or even my jacket or pockets anytime. Cons: 1. Speed - Upto 1 Gbps? I don't think so. The speed from my ISP is 500 Mbps. I tested with both wifi and wired using the Insignia adapter on both my Google Pixel 6a and my Gaming laptop. I was surprised to see that on both the devices, even after running the speed for multiple times, the speed of the internet when connected to the adapter was consistently less than the wifi speed. Surprised? Even I was surprised too. In the past I have compared Ethernet vs wifi and Ethernet has always won. Below are the average speed test results. Please refer to the image for the speed difference. The image will have the Wifi and the Ethernet logo on the top for the Android devices and on the bottom for the Laptop that runs on Windows OS. Google Pixel 6a (Android 14 OS) - Wifi - 327.4 (Avg speed always above 300) Insignia USB C adapter - 280.4 (Avg speed was between 260 and 299) Gaming laptop (Windows 11 Home) - Wifi - 432.2 (Avg speed always above 410) Insignia USB C adapter - 398.1 (Avg speed was between 370 to 404) Final verdict - Though the difference in speed is not that much, still it might make a huge difference during video calls or streaming HDR content. I would say if you are really not worried about the 30 to 40 Mbps slower speed and if you need an adapter when your laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, then go for it. I was definitely expecting 50 to 100 Mbps more speed. Insignia could have done much better and I am pretty disappointed with the speed.
