As a Contractor I've installed a ton of garbage disposals over the years and Insinkerator is by far my favorite to install overall. It's so nice having this! My place came with the wiring (taped off) and switch but no unit so when I was very happy to finally get one cord included! I was a little weary about the 1/2HP size because I normally handle 3/4 or more BUT now that I've installed it and used it, I have no idea why more people don't opt for the 1/2HP. Installed a plug to my wiring, my new plumbing, plugged it in and BOOM! Its cheaper, runs QUIETER than bigger ones, eats EVERYTHING I've put in it with EASE, leaves me with more space under the sink vs 3/4+ units & was easier to lift into place during install! I LOVE this thing and now that I have it I would replace it in a heartbeat if I needed to but its an INSINKERATOR and I NEVER EVER get call backs on them so I'm happy to have it! A-Z its wonderful! I'll continue to buy and install these for many more years for my clients. A++

I used this Insinkerator Badger 5 to replace my old garbage disposal which started making a weird noise and then stopped working. The installation was not that difficult at all. I have replaced garbage disposal in the past and the process is pretty much the same. I estimate it took me a little over 20 mins to get it installed. If you have never installed one of these before I recommend watching their Insinkerator installation video on YouTube. The video is very helpful. I have used Insinkerator in the past and they are pretty reliable. They are also the go to brand for garbage disposal as they are reliable and inexpensive depending on the model of course. In my case, I did not need to replace the old mounting assembly because there was no damage. So yes my old parts work for the new one as my old garbage disposal was the same brand. Most of the work I had to do was re-connecting the drain pipe and the dishwasher drain pipe to the food processor. Once Installed the pipes, I connected the power cable to the outlet and did a test of the food processor. I tested it and it grinds the food with no issues whatsoever. I also ran the water for a few minutes to observe for any leaks again with no issue there. I am satisfied with this product and pleased with how well it performs and how easy it was to install. I know this may not be the same case for everyone but in my case the mounting system saved me a lot of work and time. Overall this product works as intended, is reliable and affordable. It performs very well and is easy to install.

This garbage disposal has been a great addition to my home since installing it. I recently added a wet bar to my basement and was on the fence about adding a disposal but ended up doing so. This was way easier to install than i had anticipated. I am not a plumber, but am mid range in terms of being a handyman. The pressure fit of this disposal was great to the undermount sink I currently use and the size was not too big to make under the sink crowded. The noise level of this disposal is about what you expect, and the amount of scraps that can be ground up from the unit is better than expected too. You cannot crush up peach pits or anything along those lines, but in terms of clearing plated with small amounts of food this was the right model to use. The plus has adequate length too just incase you run in to a cord logistics issue. Please note that I would recommend a plumber to install this device, but if you have experience, install of this seems to fit the mold. All in all, if you are looking for a standard sized disposal with medium to low power that can grind up small table scraps then this is the unit for you.

We replaced an older model 3/4 HP InSinkerator with the InSinkerator Badger 5 Standard Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal. Both the old and new one had the same size power cord attached So our outlet was in the perfect position. We reused the sink flange from the older garbage disposal as it fit the new model perfectly. That eliminated some work and time. It came with everything we needed to install it with the exception of a few household tools like screw driver and wrench. The three foot power cord is heavy duty and requires a grounded 3 prong outlet. It took my husband 15 - 20 minutes from start to completion. He had previously read all the instructions. I love the smaller size of the 1/2 HP as opposed to the 3/4 HP model. I was surprised that it was so much quieter and runs smoother. Over the years I have come to trust the InSinkerator as they are well made and this one came with a 3 year warranty. I have never had to use the warranty in the past. It is made of super heavy duty stainless steel. I don’t like the enclosed sink stopper as it is hard plastic. It has a small amount of rubber around it to help seal the water in the sink. The rim at the top is hard for my arthritic hands to grip. I was disappointed that it was not stainless steel with more rubber on it. Time will tell if the plastic one will last. I took off one star for that.

This InSinkerator Badger 5 replaces my ten years of the same brand and exact horsepower. I had no issues with my old one, except it is too loud when operated. Packaging is small and easy to recycle, so I appreciate that. Installation was a breeze and effortless. I twisted off the old one and put on the new one because I kept the old assembly, and that saved me time and effort. The installation and cleaning took me between 15-25 minutes which is fantastic. Build quality is excellent; it mounted smoothly, and no leak was observed. I ran the water and turned on the disposal for 3 minutes; everything looked good and functional. When I think of food disposal, the InSinkerator brand comes to my head immediately because I have been using it for over 15 years and have never had any issues. It is reliable to use. Because this new model is the exact one, I had ten years ago. However, I noticed that the noise level is less, which is what I looked for since my kitchen is small, and if someone watches tv in the living room, it makes it super hard to hear. I give five stars to this food disposal for quality, reliability, and easy installation. I highly recommend it to those looking for quality and reliability with long-lasting apparatus.

My old garbage disposal unit finally wore out, so I started looking for a replacement. I first went to Home Depot but realized Best Buy carried the same unit at a better price. I also liked that Best Buy didn’t pressure me into paying for installation. Instead, I watched a YouTube video and, as a 63-year-old woman, I was able to install it myself without any problems. The installation went smoothly, and the disposal has been working perfectly ever since. I’m very happy with both the product and the overall shopping experience.

If you are looking for a decent disposal system or to replace an older, noisier, and clunkier version that you might have installed – Look no further. My experience has been a positive one. Just make sure you have someone that you trust to hire and install this so that you won’t have to worry about leaks later on. After reviewing the install instructions it seemed easy enough for anyone to tackle to replace an older version our home had. I want to call out here if you are planning on doing a new install you will need to get the power situation looked at by either getting an electrician or using the outlet to connect to a plug in switch (Sold separately). I think otherwise, it is easy to replace an old unit. Overall use, you turn it on and turn it off. It isn’t too particularly noisy, depends on your taste. It works well with most of everyday kitchen scraps without any issues. Just as a good rule of thumb, don’t dump any stringy veggies as those tend to sometimes get caught. Warranty is good enough for the average household. Decent size to consider for taking up some under sink space.

Easy install for my husband. Works well. Didnt realize there was a plug that had to be removed for the dishwasher to drain but would have if we'd read the instructions. Easy fix and back to working great.

Great garbage disposal for a rental property. It's strong, reliable and offers great value for the money. The best part is that since this unit was replacing another Badger (15 year old) disposal, I didn't have to replace the mount. It literally took me 10 minutes from the time I unplugged the old disposal and plumbing to the moment I tested the newly installed disposal.
