This is the best cpu to get for price to performance and what is great is you can get a motherboard that uses DDR4

The processor died within a year due to Intel shipping faulty products for all processors. I installed the provided microcode fix but 6 months after I knew about it. This product should be marked as damaged up front so every custom is aware of it. It has gotten worse and worse over the last year with constant bluescreens due to it's voltage going higher. Working with intel has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I need this PC for work, and Intel is Charging me $420 for a replacement processor ($420 charge that will eventually???? get refunded, but it's taken so long to get that back). Plus the customer service from intel has been ATROCIOUS. I've been trying to get this warranty'ed every day for the last 3 weeks, and each day they send 1 response with a new required document to sign. Then another. Then they messed up ON THEIR PAPERWORK and require me to redo IT ALL AGAIN. I require a working PC to make a living and can't just take out a processor and wait for them to RMA it. They treat you with such disrepect for such a broken product.

Legit has to be the worst CPU I have ever bought.
I purchased this CPU around April of 2024, and it has given me nothing but problems since day one.
It started off with BSODs every night randomly from what appeared to be a "RAM" issue. But checking with different stucks the problem still occured.
Thats when I learned about the problems MANY people have with this CPU, being unable to do much of anything without crashing or other fatal errors.
Then I learned about the microde update or intel default settings that motherboard manufacturers have to set in order for this processor to run properly. When it came out I was so happy, now I can finally run my games and stuff with no problem.
But, alas, it was not to be, as using this update fixed the blue screens. But made almost everything else borderline unusable.
For example, when I play a game like Final Fantasy 14 , I have to be wary to do anything like watching a video or even clicking into discord as it can crash the game randomly. And I thought it was the game at first but others with this CPU also reported this happening willy nilly while the majority on other processor platforms had no such thing.
It has gotten so bad that my browser Opera GX will just randoly crash at moments where it feels like nothings happening. Like watching youtube shorts, any live stream, or just sitting on the home page. It doesn't make sense to me how a current gen processor can't run something as simple as a browser can be offered on the market like this.
I finally decided to pull the trigger today 11-9-2024 after crashing a total of 54 times in Final Fantasy 14 just doing trials and dungeons. I cannot for the life of me keep working with this CPU.
This brings me to say if you're thinking about buying this CPU, and are worried about the controversy of the 13th and 14th gen. Believe them, I thought it was just a minority of people who had this problem of instability with this processor, but it happened to me. And it most certainly can happen to you.
If you are thinking about buying the other brand, I'd say go for it, I have heard nothing but praise for their cpus.
I will never buy another intel product again.

I bought this in a generational upgrade jump from 12th to 14th back in February and almost immediately it began overheating and I had to go back to exchange it for a different processor which has now failed even with the mirco code update.
If you try to go into your local Geek Squad with too many swaps they will cancel your total tech and unfortunately the company will not stand behind their products.

I am currently on the phone having to argue to get a refund as intel seems to have knowingly put out faulty CPUs, relying on bios patches to fix them. The cpu will randomly break. Don't buy it.

I bought an Intel i7-14700k on Feb 10. I put this CPU on three different motherboards, none of the three attemps successfully boot the BIOS system. I then spend tons of time debugging the whole pc system and finally brought the cpu to professional tech guys, the results are consistent - this is a dead CPU. I brought the CPU to BEST BUY today (March 8) and asked for a refund or replacement. They rejected it since it has pasted the 2-week due.
I understand that this is BEST BUY's after-service policy, but this policy is not very reasonable and should be more flexible. Debugging a pc system is very time-consuming, since there are many aspects that need to be checked and every step requires carefulness. Policies are set by human and can be changed. One star for the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Constantly crashing using Premiere Pro. My computer was fine until I upgraded CPU from a 12900. So much time and money lost. Now I find out Intel made bad chips. I go to return and find out Best Buy only has a 14 day return policy which is not enough time to troubleshoot and figure out that the CPU does not work.

Best buy sold me a review unit that wouldn't work in a actual PC. Took over a month to find this information out from Intel's warranty program. Best buy refused to replace it because it was outside their 2 week return policy. I'm never shopping here again when Amazon has a 30 day returns for any reason.

It was great until Intel's voltage settings degraded it into oblivion. RMAing as we speak...
The new BIOS fix is out but it won't fix your already damaged CPU.
