I do lots of gaming and server work and think this processor was great for streaming and gaming high end games like gta cod or any other game you would want to play very smooth and if your playing with a controller feels like you are playing on a console.

Wife complaining that her 15 y/o computer was sluggish - duh. While she uses it minimally, when she does use it, she doesn't want to wait around. My 4/o Sandy Ridge i7 machine performing nicely, so rebuilt mine with a Skylake i7, and built hers out with the spare parts. Core i7 vs i5? while I don't need a gaming machine, I do need that level for video rendering. While the i7 and i5 are similar in processing speeds - particularly for the non-K version of the i7, the multi threading capability of the i7 is where it stands out. If I had built a new Skylake machine for wife, which was a consideration, I would have used an i5 for her ans her useage does not have the demands as mine.

If you're looking to build a PC, this CPU should cover all your bases. Make sure you get it with a Z170 series motherboard so you can OC it. If your plans don't include overclocking, you'll probably want the 6700 non-K sku.

I had to upgrade the cpu to play 4k with ease. With the gpu i have now it stays around 40% usage

The 6700k is a must if you use Intel. Low power consumption, fast with overclocking to the 4.5-5.0 ghz range!!

I believe this chip can run games just fine. i surf the web on this chip. When you ask this chip to do something, it does it.

Mine didn't overclock so well, but that is the silicon lottery for you. Good performing chip with lots of useful features.
