Very pleased with this cpu. I bought a lga 1200 board power supply and be cool case. 4gb graphics card 6500 rx amd. 32gb of ram 2 1tb samsung ssd's. Be cool black pro 4 fan . I have 5 case fans. It has built in graphics that I'm not using. It runs abot 35c. 10 core and 20 threads is more then enough for my non gaming needs. If you game you need a better gpu.

Late review but better late than never! Absolutely a BEAST of a CPU! The value of the thing is amazing for anyone still on this generation. Which I see zero reason to switch anytime soon if you do have this. I’ve been running mine at 5.2 All Core since I’ve had it pretty much and it doesn’t struggle AT ALL. Doesn’t get hot either.. cooled with a Corsair H115i Elite Capellix. Idles 33-38c depending on ambient temps.. 50-60c during games. Stress tests around 70-77c MAX. Also for 1440p gaming (which IMO is the best/sweet spot, what I play on) even to this day, at 5.2 All core it’s still top 5 best CPU’s for gaming at 1440. I also have this paired with a 3090 FE and 32Gb (2x16) G.Skill Trident Royal 16-16-16-36 speed ram and 1000 Watt EVGA Platinum PSU to handle things with lots of room.

No complaints, I upgraded from an i7-6700k and there was a very noticeable improvement. I run a 2080ti and this processor truly unlocked some frames(20 on the min fps side in most games at 1440p and much more on the top end). I have a water cooled system and this process will run 5.2 ghz on AI overclocking alone. Very responsive/stable plus a great price from BestBuy made this a no brainer. I did have a bit of buyers remorse after seeing the new AMD offerings but after viewing real world bench marks this chip still holds its own in respect to gaming which is my builds primary function.

Needs a "Real Cooler" - Best I've Ever Had

This CPU is by far the best experience in smoothness of games and getting in and out of applications. I have had the most insane time getting this thing cooled! I went all in and stopped playing games, buying a Corsair H150i Capellex <-- However its spelled. Not only am I experiencing the best cooling I've ever had in my life lol the thing chills at 58C while playing Madden 21 which normally got my H60 to 75-78C but was also hitting 5.1Ghz all core out of the box without me doing anything (motherboard Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi from MSI). I will now only buy Ryzen 9 or i9 CPUs in the future... used to think they were a waste of money but now I'll just save for a check or two more rather than grabbing other CPU.

Great processor, mine overclocks to 5.2 GHz all cores at 1.325V with nice Cinebench R20 single (544) and multi-core (6744) scores. Props to Best Buy for actually having it in stock and not listing it above msrp as other retailers have when supply was limited. Lastly, with AMD Zen 3 on the horizon, those would be a better buy in terms of raw performance as Intel is still using their ancient 14nm process. Early benchmarks show Zen 3 to yield much better single-core performance (i.e. 600+ in R20) than what Intel has to offer at the moment, which would be better for gaming, etc.

I have this in my new gaming PC, and it's worked great. I've been pushing it pretty hard, and this processor has yet to be the bottleneck in the system. Always has enough juice for what I'm doing. Will run pretty warm if using Intel stock fan (which i don't believe is included anyway) but it's pretty manageable. I've got an aftermarket air cooler (bequiet dark rock pro 4) and decent case cooling (nothing crazy though) and haven't thermal throttled once. Liquid cool if you'd like, but i haven't found it necessary. All in all, plenty happy

I ended up buying one of these again from a different retailer bc mine was lost in shipping but anywho I was able to hit 5.5 ghz on these at 1.43v and i believe thats a bit high but everything is stable. Im using an artic freezer 420 and a good asrock motherboard. Black ops cold war and everything runs so beast even with the RTX 2070 super im getting crazy fast FPS. This is kind of overkill and the I7-10700K is also a good choice if your looking to spend on a budget. If your looking to completely dominate your gaming experience though, look no further!!

    An incremental upgrade

But a good upgrade nonetheless. Coming from an i7-8700K, this got me 4 more cores and 8 more threads, but almost doubled my L3 cache. I do a lot of video encoding work, and while AMD processors offer more compelling threadcounts, they also tend to run hotter and require more active cooling. I've been happy with Intel for decades, and the performance on this system is nothing to sneeze at. Best part is, most of my existing components made the cut over to this updated system: I kept my 64 GB of 3.2 GHz DDR4 (with the knowledge that I can now expand to 128 GB if the need ever arises), my GTX 1080 is still serviceable for what I use it for, and all my storage still works flawlessly. Sadly, Best Buy doesn't have much selection in the way of 400-series motherboards (MSI as I write this is the only option), but I elected to go with the Asus ProArt motherboard this time around. Does it offer the same frills as the Maximus XII I could have upgraded from my Maximus X? Yes and no. I get 10G ethernet as well as 2.5G ethernet built-in (10G is exposed through a PCI-Express card). I also get TWO Thunderbolt 3 ports, and 4 USB 3.2 Gen 2, and a cacophony of USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (front and rear). All told, a very nice upgrade that I expect to keep me going for another 2-3 years ideally. All for an investment of $800 (processor + mobo).

Such a strong CPU, nice to have. However, if you're planning to build a PC for gaming, I'd recommend going with an 11th Gen Rocket Lake CPU as opposed to 10th Gen and below. This is due to the fact that 10th Gen CPUs and below don't allow you to use the first NVMe SSD slot on the motherboard. It's not a deal breaker per say, but if you plan on installing lots of extra storage devices, you might want to rethink purchasing this specific CPU.

I must say I was skeptical about getting this cpu for better gaming (it helps for my work too). Because a lot of youtube channels mostly only show the fps of the i7 6700k vs this cpu and not the frame time. I have no stutters at all anywhere it is amazing, it is extremely smooth. HIGLY recommend upgrading from that CPU to anything else if you have a 2070 and up. Don't let anyone tell you it isn't bottlenecking, cause it is. Let it be this if you have the money.

I am a tech enthusiast. I'm running EVGA's DARK K|NGP|N z490 board with G.Skill 4800mHz ram and a 3090. I had previously only been able to get my hands on the i7 variant, and I thought it was a great chip. That's until I put the i9 in the socket and found out what I was missing. The i9 ran more cores at higher clock rates with lower voltage. My former 48 ring limit became 52, the core clock went from 51 all-core to 54 all-core (55 stable @ 1.41 volts), and I was able to run my ram at cl14 (stable as a rock at 4800mHz cl15). Have you heard the '10 percent happier" concept? Well, by running the cache and ram at those speeds I dropped system latency by 10 percent across the board. The i9 may look like it's only 1-2% better than the i7 on paper, but with those improvements in memory speed it's more than 10%. That said, the new generation just came out.

Really pleased with my purchase, definitely won the chip lottery. Got mine up to 5.5 on all 10 cores and stable. Puts out too much heat for aio at those speeds for my liking but at 5.3 it’s at a very happy temp. Glad to know I could get more speed with some cooling upgrades.

If you're a 1080p 240hz gamer or just a gamer looking for ultimate performance. This is it. I was debating between the i7 10700k and this one and ended up making the right choice. The i7 wouldn't have been able to sustain the same frames that I wanted. Nearly every game besides WARZONE runs at my frame rate cap of 230 FPS which keeps all my games in g-sync range. Valorant never has the FPS move for a second off 230. Same for CSGO, Overwatch etc. If you're going this route make sure you have a nice motherboard and some high speed memory to pair it with. All of these will factor in what type of performance you get. I'm super super happy with the purchase and have no regrets. Got the exact performance I was looking for.
