Incredibly, when we bought an i9 cup at our local Best Buy, the box looked unopened, but the chip inside was fake: a used i7. When we tried to return it, they thought we were scanning them. Then we showed them the end of the boxes: our fake vs an authentic one. Wow. It was Best Buy that had somehow gotten inauthentic product mixed in. We fought for and got our money back, but it was scary. If you're buying, check out the chip before you leave the store. Take plenty of photos. But beware. The pushback I got from Best Buy was enough to make me realize exactly how much I could trust the retailer. I got lucky with photos, a police report, and eventually finding someone online in (national) customer service to get the local store to reconsider and do the right thing. You might not get so lucky.

The performance is amazing. Sure it’s probably overkill but I would rather have more cores to grow into as games and programs get urgraded to utilize the extra processing power of the I9 1300k.

Bought Dec. 29th. Live in Buffalo NY, was in a state of emergency with snow storms for a week or so and other PC parts got delayed in the build process. Finally able to build this week and CPU was red lighting. Brought to PC store, they ran tests and the CPU has burnt out processors. Tried to return CPU Jan 25, but Best Buy would not allow it. Outside the window for the “best buy return policy”. Manager at the store told me “Intel would take care of me with the manufacture warranty”. Went home and searched to see if my warranty was eligible. It was not. Essentially donated $600 for Best Buy to sell me a defective product they won’t take back.

If you're looking for top-tier performance, the Intel Core i9-13900K does not disappoint. I upgraded from a previous-gen CPU, and the difference in speed and multitasking is night and day. Whether I'm gaming, editing 4k videos, or running virtual machines, this processor handles everything effortlessly. The hybrid architecture (with performance and efficiency cores) is a game-changer, especially for workloads that demand both speed and power efficiency. I paired it with DDR5 RAM and a Z790 motherboard, and the system feels incredibly responsive. Thermals are manageable with a good liquid cooler it does get warm under heavy load, but that’s expected from a chip this powerful. Make sure you use a high quality cooler if you plan to overclock. Overall, this is a future proof processor that delivers on every front. Highly recommended for creators, gamers, and enthusiasts

This thing has problems, it runs out of video memory in a lot of games, it crashes with little strain, I'm not sure if its just mine, but I've read a lot of people are having the same issue.

    A beast of a CPU

To start off the benchnarks this CPU can produce is insane. This can handle everything and more. Only issue is youre going to need some seeiois cooling. At stock with a 360 AIO on a full load this CPU draws about 1.5v and 330w of power while reaching 98c-105c. With some undervolting and wattage caps you can brung the temps down significantly without loss of performance.

    Great CPU Upgrade From 9900K

Pros: Was a massive upgrade from my old 9900k to give my RTX 4080 more leg room to run better. I notice that game fps lows increased by a large margin. In Forza Motorsport I was seeing lows of 41fps 4K max settings but with the 14900k the lows increased to around 71fps but with a 88fps average. Many other games like Starfield run buttery smooth max settings 4K averaging over 80fps. With 9900k I was getting random stutters when a lot was on the screen, on 14900k the stutters are now gone. In games where I was cpu limited I am now was seeing my 4080 hit more closer to 99% GPU usage compared to the 9900k where sometimes usage would go down to 75%-85%. Great for other desktop productivity tasks. For general desktop tasks on same m.2 boot drive that Windows and Chrome feel a lot more snappier and things load quicker. Cons: Uses a ton more heat which requires a more expensive watercooling setup (I’m using an 360mm water cooling setup). The 14900k uses more power compared to my 9900k. More expensive than the ever popular and faster for gaming AMD Ryzen 7800x3d cpu which I would highly recommend for gamers on a budget.

Super fast! fastest processor by a country mile. 40,000 Cinebench r23 without breaking a sweat, well it sweats. AMD stutters but Intel is super steady. DIsable c-states and speedstep to lock in a nice steady framerate. Intel makes a good processor but make sure that you get one that runs at reasonable temps stock. Lots of variability between processors, so it is about silicon lottery.

Incredible CPU. Overkill. I upgraded from an i7-11700k and was very hesitant to do so with my RTX 4090. I knew my old CPU was bottlenecking, but boy was I surprised after putting this baby in. My GPU utilization went from 40% to 90-95%, which in turn made my FPS increase by nearly 100 while gaming in 4K HDR ultra graphics settings. As far as temps, I was scared by the thousands of reviewers across the internet complaining of it running hot, up to and over 100C. I was extra scared because my AIO cpu cooler is the Corsair h115i 280mm. Even with an undersized AIO, the highest temp I’ve seen it reach is 65C on Warzone 2 4K ultra settings. My case is a Corsair 5000D airflow with 8 total case fans including my AIO. Moral of the story is, don’t worry about temps if you know how to apply thermal paste correctly and know how to build a pc with proper airflow.

Coming from an i7-6800 this thing is a monster. It boots up all the startup apps(steam/discord and usb accessories) with ease. I found my older PC would struggle with startup apps and games. This CPU doesn’t struggle at all. However, it’s a mini heater. Without some good AC in your place or room it will heat it up pretty nicely. AMD has some cheaper options but I haven’t had any reliability issues with Intels that you read or hear about with AMD.

Awesome CPU to upgrade to from (in my situation) an I5-7600K to avoid having to worry about it for a looooong while. Like most other people I've seen, it runs straight to 100C on purpose and immediately throttles but in my case, once i set everything up and checked the BIOS and the Intel XTU software, i was able to more or less get it down to 70-80 during games and whatnot just by setting the core power limit to 230w from 9999w which is somehow apparently set by default, possibly from my MB, to max and I can't remember if I tweaked anything else but that definitely made the biggest impact by far. The TDP for it I think is 235W based on Intels specs but when it was set to 9999 it definitely ate up as much of that as it possibly could and would instantly throttle so now it is much more stable but I can no longer game and fry eggs on it at the same time which is unfortunate. My advice for anyone who is thinking of purchasing this CPU is to be prepared to do some minor adjustments especially if using an air cooler because it is an absolute beast that needs serious gear to manage the heat which I went in blind to because of course I did. With just the minimum amount of work it is absolutely manageable and with a serious setup using water cooling or even liquid nitrogen if you are going all out like Ive seen a few folks do, there is a ridiculous amount of potential in this processor. Highly recommend, but realistically as a side note it is also super overpowered and if on a budget my understanding at the moment is there are plenty of other CPUs that dont cost nearly as much as this one that will suit most gaming needs so unless you are specifically looking for the best of the best there are a lot of good recommendations online for processors from previous generations that will more than handle most gaming needs without the same price tag. Final impression: This CPU wants to burn my house down and melt me into a puddle, is perfect for cooking sunny side up eggs, and can be a backup heater if you have a generator to power your pc. Pretty sure if the universe is a simulation its running on a rig with this processor. 10/10

Bought this to replace my 12900k. I have a z790 Asus rog hero board with ddr5 ram. The upgrade from the 12900k was tremendous. No issues with cooling no issues with it being unstable. Playing games with it are flawless. Paired with my 4090 I enjoy the details of the game to the max and ray tracing with no issues. I would recommend if upgrading from a prior 12th gen. Intel has stepped there game up with the new lga1700 sockets chip and very impressed.
