Bought a "new" lower-end CPU through another marketplace, and it came open. Thankfully, this was ready for pick-up immediately, and runs much better than my previously burnt out CPU

This CPU was installed in my daily PC that is used for work and gaming. Having updated from an i5, apps are super responsive. Make sure to have a sufficient CPU cooler as this chip gets hot.

For the last few years I've used an all AMD system. 6800 XT, 5800X3D and a 7900 XTX with a 7590X3D...
I swapped to the 14900K for a few reasons.
1- Intel is a much more stable platform
2- Much better memory support
3- Performance is very close to the competition
Before switching, I attempted multiple RMAs with the same results, countless BSOD's, Multiple crashes, etc. Since switching I don't regret buying this CPU. I might lose performance within a margin of 2% at most, but I haven't had a single problem with reliability.

I had to spend an entire day figuring out how to get temperatures under control even with a 360mm AIO this thing will run in Autoconfiguration from the bios to pull max power 253+ watts at 100C depending on the game you are playing or what you are doing. I finally found a video that explained to me what was going on. I adjusted my PL1/PL2 limits from 253/253 to 145/253 and I went from a cinebench score of 35,000 100C thermal throttle to 31,000 63C all core temp average. This is already a lot of information for an average user and I had no idea or was even aware of all of this information prior to purchase but I recommend giving this video a look over instead of running the CPU at 100C thermal throttled on the regular.

Although pricy, I thought I didn't need this much power until I had it. It's such a game changer going from a 9th gen processor (Which i already felt was great) to a, let alone 14th gen, an i9 14th gen. I am still mindblown every day using it. Great purchase. If you plan to build a new pc and are deciding for a processor, save up a bit more for it. I promise its worth it

The I9 14900K is the endpoint of upgrade path for me. The KS CPUs are likely just factory overclocked K CPUs as told by the TDP. Upgrade is now in the graphics cards, which I didn't need for my initial build, and drives and RAM. I can now underclock for power efficiency when on RV batteries in the wild, and overclock for fun and games. Its DAW for now and animation graphics later. The CPU install was straight forward. I won't need another build for many years. Worth a little extra money.
