Excellent film from an Excellent director
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Christopher Nolan delivers another great film with Interstellar. Yes, the science can be a bit confusing, but the effects and cinematography more than make up for the heady stuff. Definitely recommend to films buffs and casual viewers alike!

Great Blue Ray Sci-fi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sci-fi as Interstellar opens on Earth in the distant future, as Mother Nature is waging war on humanity. Famine is widespread, and all of mankind's resources are now dedicated to farming in a desperate fight for survival.

A must see Sci-Fi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend this movie to any one who likes sci-fi movies. It expands your mind about outer space. Im glad i got it on blu ray, the indoor scenes do have the widescreen. But when it goes to a scenery scene, it fills the whole screen.

simply amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Interstellar was without a doubt my favorite movie of 2014. The science is accurate, believable, and told in a way that isn't completely over your head. It is a story of hope, survival, and love as humanity claims it place among the stars.

A different look at the future
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great movie, that has a lot of imaginative twist. Loved the ending, but my wife didn't. It was disappointing to see Matt Damon in the part he was cast.

Overly ambitious and visually impressive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, disappointing if ambitious film. It introduces some valid and interesting ideas but the sheer volume of those ideas causes So much weight that the narrative of the collapses under them. Ultimately the movie takes the easy way out and provides an unearned happy ending that presents the least of the interesting ideas front and center while discarding many of the more salient points it raises. There's my Spoiler free review. Now, There isn't any way to discuss the film properly unless we head into spoiler territory so stop reading now if you haven't seen the film and plan to. Spoiler alert The film creates a paradox situation with its tesseract ending that allows cooper to send messages to his daughter in the past. The paradox arises because cooper ultimately gives himself the communication and information needed to go on his journey - without cooper having gone through the movie's adventure he couldn't send himself on the adventure. This in and of itself isn't THAT big of an issue as quantum physics postulates that there could be time distortions when dealing with huge gravitational forces like what was being experienced. The tesseract, though, is pure comic book science - a physical place outside of time where you can interact with all time (think vanishing point from dc comics). Still, quantum physics is essentially based in the probability of improbable events so that isn't too offensive a concept. What is horrible, though, is that cooper transmits terabytes of quantum data from the event horizon of a black hole via the tesseract using Morse code. Good thing his daughter who is 9 can decode a morse code message at all, let alone something as complex as quantum data (it's never explained what the "quantum data" is and that term is pretty loosely applied but stil...this information is used to solve a mathematical time travel / interstellar equation so it must be good...all through morse code). The morse code is transmitted to the minute hand of a wrist watch by the way and the hand jiggles with gravity controls by cooper, who also suddenly knows morse Code. Even better is that cooper uses his love for his daughter as his way to anchor himself across time in the tesseract to his daughter. And by the way, any body thinking abou things would Have figured this out when it is shown in the beginning of the movie as a "ghost" in the daughters room. You think that is the dad sending back a message across time to his daughter? Disappointing that nearly three hours later the big twist turns out to be just that. The first third of the film on earth is poorly written too. Time is spent with cooper and his kids tracking down an Air Force drone and taking it but it does nothing in the plot. Cooper accidentally finds nasa and then they decide he is the only person to pilot their mission mere hours before the mission, no reason why he needs to train or anything - he is just a super pilot and can do anything the plot Needs him too. Most of the characters are not characters, they are a means to deliver plot information to the audience (John lithgow's grandpa is the worst offender of this). Finally, the emotional connection needed to pull off this movie simply isn't there. There is zero connection between cooper and his daughter or cooper and brand. And the movie (not) wisely focuses on the love theme leaving all of the various science themes as disparate parts that pop up periodically ultimately only calling attention to themselves as if saying "look how smart we are with this detail." However, those science parts play second fiddle to the "love conquers all" focus of the story and are either become a forgotten element or a far distant second to the main focus. The clunky integration of all these parts is the worst offense the movie makes because at the end of the day, it's kind of boring. The trademark Nolan ambiguity is on full-display here with the possibility that the end is a death-induced fever dream but it's only a suggestion since there isn't any way it could be...cooper HAS to send himself the message or he never goes and hence no fever dream. Unless the messages didn't come from him but from a far developed humanity as is also momentarily suggested. Except there is no other evidence to support that so now we have to write fan fiction to have the movie make sense. One final possibility is that cooper went into an alternate universe, something that is also theorized by quantum physics. Again, though, no mention of that at all so we are pack in fan fiction land. For the record, I had similar plotting issues with the dark knight returns where things simply make no sense and narrative logic is sacrificed for scene specific payoff even if those scenes don't add up to a total that is greater than the sum of their parts. And that is a sad thing about interstellar. It just can't juggle all of its ideas effectively and ends up throwing most of them away so it can catch the "love conquers all" idea. I wanted to really like this film...I love big ideas in movies and space movies often offer big ideas. The cosmos show (both of them) was amazing and I was hoping for a similar effect with this Film - especially after the hype. disappointed that the Big ideas are like chocolate sprinkles on top of an ice cream Sunday - tasty but fleeting. The ice cream, the main part, is the sugary sweet love storyline that ends up not being that big an idea at all. Just my $0.02 of course...

The Next Space Odyssey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thoroughly enjoy this movie! The plot gets old after you watch it over and over again, but I am a science geek and love to drool over the "science", no matter how implausible. The digital copy would have been nice to have though.

Greaters mind bending movie of all time!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never knew thinking so much could hurt this good. You have to watch it even if you don't like sci-fi. It can be really hard to understand but as long as you know the main reason why they leave this earth, then you know the whole movie.

A Father's Day Sci Fi Survival Flick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrific movie. Science well-done, effects NOT distracting from plot, characters hit the right mix of depth and cheesiness. Don't read the actor list; be surprised like I was! "Gravity" was pretty, but I didn't feel like seeing it twice. "Interstellar" is LONG, but I've seen it a good half dozen times now. Give it a try!

Movie came with lots of extras
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie came with an actual cut of projector film from the movie. It was a little bit hard to see but cool nonetheless. It also had the DVD, bonus features disc and a digital copy. Couldn't really ask for anything more for 20 dollars.

A Abundance of Extra content for the Sci fi junkie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best space Sci Fi movie this year besting or adding to Gravity.
