"Into the West" is a very accurate telling of America's government and citizens' migration into the western states. The first half of the series is the best as it shows how life is for the white man and the indians just as thier way's of life are beginning to collide. The second half, where the U.S. Government tries to eliminate the indian way of life , is compelling but also very cruel. The Government's continual practice of breaking treaties made with the tribal nations just to gain more land is very accurate. We must not allow ourselves to forget this shameful moment in American history. "Into the West" will make sure we won't.
This mini-series is a keeper for those who loke classics. This mini-series is (in my opinion) btter than Lonesome Dove. I definitely will not forget what I viewed in this mini-series.

This documentary really brings the truth about how my forefathers, my anglo and my Native American ones, lived during the time of the settling of the West. I'm not proud of how my anglo family treated my Native American one. And, they're STILL not being treated as first class citizens and this was their country first.
It was good to see Native Americans being portrayed by real Native Americans. They have such rich heritage and traditions.
Every American, all nationalities, should be required to view this story.
Thanks so much for it!

I enjoyed this miniseries because it is based on American history. It is about two families and their stuggles as the white man moved westward into Indian territory. The culture and life stuggles of the American Indian and the pioneers of the west was depicted very realistically and it draws you in.
