I'm familiar with Halestorm from most all of their past work, except for the very earliest output. Their story from youth is compelling. It is a one in huge odds fantastic dream come true. You can read about them elsewhere on the web, you will appreciate them more. This CD is a radical departure! I give kudos for the absolute gutty boldness to set off in a new direction! They have not played it safe here. So far, the songs are "different" to me. To compare them to prior output taints this latest effort. They know each other well, they complement each other well. I do not think I have ever heard a more kick in the head, but with love, voice like Lzzy's. Her range, incredible. Her stamina, remarkable. Comparisons to Janis? More cleanly delivered, less growly and less howling. Better? No...different. I always have my first listen, unhurried for time, on over the ear headphones. Yes, the production values may be overly layered. But it is a new direction, I give it wide berth this time. The songs are, to my sense, easily delivered in a live concert, but don't expect an exact studio match due to the added production tools. It might even be like my sense of The Pretty Reckless. I actually like their live versions of many songs. The studio versions sound so flat, controlled, and unemotional. Not so here as this is Lzzy performing and she belts full tilt when there is need for an open throttle, but can throttle it back on the tender songs. One thing that you can be sure of, you never have to strain to know what the hell she's singing. She enunciates clearly with so much discipline to her delivery, her lilting, her amazing quick changes in range. Listen to more than her voice, Arejay's drumming is very distinct and signature. Both Joe and Josh blend in. They are not brashly out front but are very complementary in framing Lzzy's voice. While I had my music listening start in the early 60's at 6-7 years old, the age of step out highlight solos so apparent starting in the mid to late 60's and onward appears to be encountered far less often these days. This is a well oiled team machine. I've only had a few listens, so I am sure my description, at least to myself, will be deeper as I listen more. If you are looking for more of the same as in from their last two albums, you will either be disappointed, or like me, enjoy the daring and versatile gamble. Not many bands venture past their known formulaic(?) style on the edge. This is a band to continue to take notice off. I predict bigger and better. They have come a long way from those early days, a long way. Now... for my caveat and I do not expect anyone to agree with me, in fact, I encourage the argument, but I will not challenge your opinion. I am not insulted or offended by any expletives and can let loose a string of uninterrupted without repeat cuss words, even to sadly taking God's name in vain, like the best (worst?) of them. So, imperfect here... There are no bad words and, no, you won't go to hell. However, I do distinguish between expletives being used to add depth and preciseness, and punch to a song's lyrics and gratuitous redundancy, or forced provocativeness. Comedians can sometimes do this, when they can't think fast enough for the next joke, they tend to dabble in the "ef" zone. It gets tiring to me. Using expletives sparingly makes them more memorable as a highlight. There is such a thing as delivering expletives strategically and keeping it classy. (you do remember "don't give me that do goody good bullschitte" precisely because it is memorable by its sparing use in that song, of course it did push the boundaries in its day...) That being said, thinking of the song "Dear Daughter" would you play the expletive songs to your 5 year old daughter? You answer, I can't for you. I do greatly admire their genuine approachability with their fans. It didn't take Ronnie James Dio to teach them this, he only reinforced it. This was always in their hearts. That being said, Lzzy is quite accurately a Dr. Jekyll / Mr Hyde. She has this uncanny ability to arise into "the zone" and when not to...dynamic, like her voice. Update Saturday 18 April 2015 It occurred to me after more, both critical and casual listening, that if this album were Halestorm's first, there quite obviously could be no comparison to prior work. This would be what you got, there is no imprint...yet. Now, to state the sometimes overlooked fact, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I venture that most of the negative or near negative reviews could be because of dashed expectations of more of the same. More of the same would be good..and safe. I like prior output...a lot. If you've ever watched any of Lzzy's interviews, you knew this album was coming. She either has gotten very good at hiding self doubt (highly unlikely) or has matured into self assuredness and surely shares this strength with all. These songs are written in a ballsy foray off the beaten trail. You also know that it is not just her. As her brother Arejay once chidingly said, "there is no "I" in Lzzy." Ha! For me, this new output steps up to a new plate and slams one, sure as the most racous song sung here is belted out like few other can do... then drop to melodic low gear. A suggestion for all. If you can, listen to this cd on a pair of decent over the ear headphones or whatever you have. Concentrate on the voice and all of the detail of any and all characteristics that you can imagine. What do you hear? Compare it to other voices that you know. What did you come up with? This voice did not suddenly get better here, listen to the past cd's the same way. Focus in on the rest of the band. Enjoy. ..all this at the same time that my musical world is being alt rocked by a far different genre, Gemini Syndrome. It's good to discover and listen to the best...and that's my opinion.

Have listened to this album at least 30 times and I love it more with each trip through. Halestorm has expanded their range and experimented with new sounds in this release. More songs from the heart and life experiences await inside. The growth of this band has been amazing and I can't wait to see how they progress from here. If you are a fan of their previous work I can't imagine you would be disappointed with this release. I certainly wasn't! Definitely recommend this CD. Deluxe version has two bonus tracks so be sure to check it out.

Halestorm's "Into the Wildlife" is an album I would say is very good but not great. I would say their second album "The Strange Case of..." has been their best so far. Like many have said, I agree that they probably were influenced by pop and country music with these songs. I really do like these songs, but I don't love them. They do still have some very hard, heavy rocking tracks on this album. All in all, I like this album and would probably rank this in my top 5 favourite hard rock/ metal album at the end of the year. Also might be biased because I own all their albums and seen them live twice. Great live band too,

Their last release was perfect! Instant classic. And I was worried for their future. I mean how do you follow up that record? Its true this release doesn't compare. But it is still fantastic. It has more songs. Its more mature sounding. But it still rocks! Great songs from start to finish. I didn't feel like there really was any filler with my initial listen.

When I heard the new Halestorm album was different from their earlier ones, I was alittle worried. I was extremely happy when I first listened to it. It is different, but still rocks! This is one of my favorite albums to listen to and there's not one bad song on the whole album.

Lucy Hale, frontwoman for the band Halestorm, has a raw intensity to her voice that immediately captures the listener's attention and demands them to pay attention. Happily, the rest of the band members have the musical chops to pull it off, making this CD lots of fun.

As a Halestorm fan since 2009, I appreciate the evolution of the band from the raw hard rock of the debut album, to the more refined second album, and now the diversity of talent displayed on this most recent release. Lzzy and the boys are downright talented, and I'm looking forward to another stellar live performance tomorrow! Halestorm rocks!

Pretty solid overall, they seem to be trying some new material on this cd, changing up on the arrangements and instraments and other effects used. First two CD's were excellent, this one is just a little below but still well worth the money.

This happens to be one of my favorite albums from them. They brilliantly mixing quite a few different styles with this album, while keeping everything audibly excellent. There's everything from crazy drum solos, too heavy guitar riffs, and some very well written ballads for good measure.

saw these guys on the TV show called bar rescue, decided to buy the latest CD. After listening to it , they are very good, some of the songs are rockers, the female singer is very good. I would buy their next CD.

Screaming rock and roll as you would expect with deeper lyrical values. If you like killer classic style rock, you'll love this album. Not just a glam chick band. The whole band are incredibly talented.

After hearing the 2 preview songs for this disc (Amen & Apocalalyptic) I was eagerly anticipating this disc. Its nowhere near as heavy as the previous disc, and the 2 songs I heard first are by far the best songs on the disc, but this cd is another solid slice of Halestorm.

This was just the item I wanted. Comes with multi-CD changer and can even play your old cassette tapes. Sounds great for a small system. They just don't make stereos with these features anymore.

I admit, first listen of this CD, I was like, Ehhh. But after several more listens and seeing them sing some of them live 2 different times, I LOVE THIS CD! Lzzy rocks like usual. A must have!

I've got all the Halestorm discs including the EP of covers and I think this is their best work to date. Enjoyed every song from beginning to end and it will be in heavy rotation all summer!

Just when you thought you had heard everything Halestorm had to offer they drop this amazing record. Unlike anything they put out before yet keeping the essence of Halestorm. I love it!!!

Starts off with a bang and rocks on with an Aman (the best song on CD) slows down for one nice easy song the right back to some loving rock n roll, can't wait to see them live on May 20th

A great album. Almost every track has a different sound from what Halestorm has given us in the past, which is a huge positive. Halestorm has poured their soul into this album. Love it.

This is without a doubt the worst of all of their albums.But that doesn't mean it's awful because it's not.There are still some good songs here.If you're a fan of the band,you will still enjoy it,just not as much as the first two albums and cover eps

This is a good cd. Only thing is, I think their last cd was better. I like the new album, but I don't think it's their best. There are a lot of heavy songs along with slow songs and then there are a few slow heavy songs. Overall it's pretty good.
