I wasn't fond of thie film after seeing it in the theatre, but after watching it again at home and enjoying all the bonus material I can now say I really like this movie! Originally I just found it to be confusing with SOOOO many different story lines running. but the special effects are awesome! And Meryl Streep is fantastic! I love her in musicals! her hair and makeup should have won the Oscar!

Fun movie, but maybe a little too much for kids

We watched this movie (not knowing much about the story). We really enjoyed the music, the acting, and the dark, but fun atmosphere. It was a little much for our 8 year old, though, when the subject of infidelity arises, so be warned.

I enjoyed the twists the writers and directors put on the classical stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rampunzel, Jack and the bean stock, and the others. The musical was eloquently done and the cast was certainly top notch.

Very good movie, entertaining, and the ensemble cast all sang very well. The setting was beautiful and the storytelling, the interweaving of favorite fairy tales, was very good. This movie is a good time. But you need to like singing.

This movie was a work of genius! Although true it has some major differences from the play that was previously recorded on DVD, but plays and movies are two totally different art forms. They did a wonderful job adapting this movie to the big screen and in casting the film. There was one song I would have loved to see in the film (Agony Reprised) but otherwise they did a masterful job.

I thought Meryl Streep was a hoot, and Emily Blunt is one of my new favorites. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I liked it LOTS. Thought it was fun! Better than on stage in Seattle. Broadway would have better I think.

Overall this version was quite enjoyable. The washed out coloring was a bit cliche and some of the acting overdone. But my kids enjoy it and it's better than most of the cheaply musicals being produced for TV, video and film.

I bought this not realizing it was a musical. I don't care for musicals. I did watch it and found it entertaining. Certainly a different spin on some old fairy tales. I still don't care for musicals but this is pretty good.

This is a great Sondheim musical, and even though they eliminated some of the original story when transferring it to become a movie, it is still wonderful. It is well cast. The story is funny while being philosophically moving. The music is beautiful. And I really enjoyed the extras too. If you like musicals, you will enjoy this one.

I saw "into The Woods" at the theater when it came out and loved it. It was one of those movies that really gets the viewer invested in it. I'm a huge fan of musical theater and this one is fabulous. I think Meryl Streep does a great job, but my favorite parts were the interactions between James Corden and Emily Blunt. They are great together as the baker and his wife.

I have loved Into The Woods for a long time. I have the original Broadway version with Bernadette Peters. While this version is different, it was still enjoyable. My entire family enjoyed this movie. There is some content that younger audiences may not understand, or may find slightly scary since it does have some darker moments in it. Maybe best for those 13 and up.

Pre-ordered this DVD months ago and I forgot about it. So thankful that Best Buy sent an email reminder and the DVD arrived shortly after it's release in the store. I thought the movie was good however it is an adaptation of a popular broadway show in which many will say there is not comparison to an actual live production. I can't wait to see Wicked made into a movie.

If you like musicals this is really well done. Took some liberties with the Play but was still a great time. As usual, Streep was great though Bernadette Peters from Broadway was born for the part and totally owns it.

The musical qas a classic and this version tries to live up to it. It is a great movie and has a great cast but a little of the soul is gone from the OG musical. The movie is still enjoyable.

For those that love musical and fairy tales altogether this is the dvd for you. It has a variety of fairy tales in one story and is interesting. Don't underestimate their singing and it is a good movie for children.

Spoiler Alert: This Is A MUSICAL

I rated this movie a 3 because I didn't enjoy it... it's not their fault that I didn't pay enough attention to know it was a musical (if I thought it was their fault, it would have received a 1), but it was still an unpleasant surprise to pop in what I thought was going to be a fun fairy-tale twisty movie and get... what I got. BEWARE - THIS IS A MUSICAL! (and not just a little bit of a musical... it's a full-on very little straightforward dialogue musical). That said, the cinematography and acting were excellent - if you're prepared, and enjoy musicals, this would most likely be a fantastic movie.

Such great performances. With millions of dollars at their disposal, you can really see what the story is meant to be. For example, they don't skip showing all the adventures the giant's kingdom for lack of money... it's because that's not the point, the point is the repercussions of the decisions we make while going "into the woods."

This is one of those musicals that you would definitely want to watch as a movie because of the depth it has, that normally wouldn't be clearly shown on stage without stretching your imagination. Disney did a wonderful job on this movie and all the bonus features drag you deeper into how the magic is made.
