I am an avid fan of climbing. The film is one of two very different accounts of the same tragedy. Although most climbers believe the other account to be more likely and truthful, this account told in this film is definitely captivating and a film worth seeing for its visuals. The acting is ok. Since I am in the camp of the other narrative, I find this film very one-sided and placing blame clearly on everyone else vs the storyteller’s perspective. .... those that know all the novels and followed the interviews after know he never came back to Everest despite remaining a climber. If you are not a climber, you will likely still enjoy this film. The overcrowding and commercializing of climbing Everest with tour groups etc is still controversial and perhaps an even bigger issue than at the time of this film (event was in 1996). It surely will lead to a repeat of this tragedy as well as the continued death toll of this mountain and anyone caught on its face. I strongly recommend reading the other accounts before judging why or how this event became as bad as it did.
