What I like most is that you do not have to have a special notebook for this pen to work. The pen is comfortable in the hand, though I prefer fine tip pens (I have not seen that this is an option). The company provides a wide range of instructions, so take some time to learn how to effectively use this pen. I write a lot of notes - which means that I have a lot of random notebooks lying around. I am able to use regular notepads now, and I do not have to re-type my notes later.

As a speaking deaf student this product streamlines recording of notes for class lectures. Converting my writing to text notes in multiple, searchable formats speeds up my process of reading lips and taking notes.

Remember when digital note-takers were several hundred dollars? This compact pen delivers quality at a reasonable price.

    Best smartpen on the market!

In the last month I've tried the Livescribe 3, the Neo N2, and the IrisNotes Air 3. The IrisNotes is the best pen on the market in my opinion. First of all, I don't have to purchase or print special paper, which is a requirement with the other two pens. Secondly, the IrisNotes recognized my handwriting with fewer errors and would transcribe sentences with fewer line breaks. Also, the IrisNotes will open up Microsoft Word with the touch of a button and move your document into a a new Microsoft Word page unlike the others, which will force you to email your document to yourself or save it to a PDF, Evernote, etc. I did have a little trouble setting up the IrisNotes in that the receiver wasn't recognizing my pen. After a full charge on the pen and receiver and a couple resets, it's worked like a charm ever since. The only negative to the IrisNote so far is that it comes with a receiver that you must attach to the top of your page, which means you'll have an extra gadget to carry around and keep charged, but it works so much better that it's not a big deal to me. Just like the other two pens, you can use standard mini ink refills, so no special ink to purchase. IrisNotes is owned by Canon, which leads to me to believe it will be around for a while. The pen is comfortable in the hand and much lighter than the Livescribe 3, which felt bulky. If I had to choose the most comfortable to hold of the three, I would have to go with the Neo N2, but the price of the paper and the fact that it's sometimes difficult to find turned me against the pen. The IrisNotes Air 3 will come with a soft carrying pouch, four ink cartridges, an ink cartridge remover tool, the pen, the receiver, and the usb plug, which you'll use to charge via the port on your computer. I'm very happy with this purchase.

    Not Worth The Money

I ordered this online with high hopes. Received in a timely manner. The quality of the pen felt very sturdy but the receiver that had to be clipped to the top of the paper was very cheap and basic. I tried everything to connect the pen to the receiver and so did the Geek Squad but no luck. Returned to my local store for full refund.
