It actually works and cleans but over time the little spinning brush on the side completely stopped working. We will be calling the manufacturer in regards to this but it was in use for less than 60 days when the small brush completely failed. Keep track of the dust/debris container because it fills up fast. Apart from what I just mentioned its surprising how much dust it can vacuum in a short amount of time. Trust me, even when you have a super clean house this thing manages to grab more. I wouldn't recommend cleaning the carpets/rugs with it as it seems to pull the small fibers and fills up the container even faster. Hard wood floor or solid floors (non carpet) is what I recommend to use it on.

Great little vacuum. WE have a dog and it really sucks up the dog hair. It does tend to get stuck under furniture, etc and we are looking to upgrade to a programmable model in the near future.

After owning the Roomba 860 for a month we are quite pleased with the purchase. Our floors are wood look porcelain tiles with area rugs and the 860 picks up pretty good. We haven't swept the tiles since we got the 860. The 860 actually does a better job of picking up than us sweeping because it sucks up stuff that are between the grout lines. Only reason we're not giving it 5 stars is because it always gets stuck on one of our area rugs. An error message comes on and the 860 asks us to move it. We're not sure how often this will happen for carpet owners.

I read a lot of reviews and decided this was the best model for our house. We have a large, black lab who sheds constantly. At the time we bought this, our baby was crawling, and she was always covered in fur and the knees of her pants were always black. Any time we sat down or got in bed we had to dust our feet off. Since buying this, the floors look incredible. Our babies clothes are clean, and we don't have to dust our feet off any more. We had family come visit right after we bought this, and they were so impressed that they bought one on their way home. They have a labrador too, and they are just as happy as we are with their purchase.

Been looking at these for years with three dogs that shed non stop plus the dirt they bring in. It was like camping all the time purchased the roomba 860 great investment Sweeped and steamed mop the floor before turning it loose to play. Have not touched the broom since. Picks up dog hair dirt sand almost anything In it's way don't wait like I did get it now make life easy again

I bought the iRobot for my friend as a housewarming gift. She has an old vacuum cleaner which was heavy. It was killing her back. She loves the iRobot. She is happy using the iRobot than the overweight vacuum cleaner. Save her time. Made her housekeeping more manageable.

We have had a previous version of this machine before and purchased this one to replace it after several years of use. This version is very quiet, especially in comparison to the previous version we had, which I believe was the 650. It works well, quietly runs around the house and does an excellent job of picking up little items off the floor with ease. It runs well on our hardwood floors and over the small area rugs and carpet we have in the bedrooms. Really a terrific item and works as advertised. A big improvement in operation over the previous version and the battery life seems to last longer as well.

I had my doubts before getting this for the house. I didn't think it would work or that it will miss a lot of dirt. Having two dogs living in the house has caused lots of hair to be deposited on the carpet and hardwood floors, wedging it in the cracks and corners. However, with this Roomba, it gets about ~95% of the dirt and hair. I couldn't believe how much this thing sucks up. It's certainly a lifesaver. I set it to go off around 11PM each night and it goes and does its thing then magically returns to its dock to recharge for the night. It couldn't be easier! I love it!!

We have used the roomba for several weeks now and have found it to be a great time saver. We have a dog and cat (collie and rag doll) and it does an excellent job of keeping their hair picked up. Cleaning pet hair from the machine is simple too, so you don't have to worry too much about that, you'll just want to clean it at least every other use. With pets, we don't use the scheduler, as we've heard the horror stories from that. The battery life seems to last through cleaning our entire downstairs (800 sq ft) before it heads to the docking station. Overall it is better than expected.

Bought it for my wife as a Christmas present. We have 2 cats, a dog, and 2 children in a mix of hardwood floors, rugs, and carpeting. It does fairly well at picking up about 80-90% of dust, pet hair, and general debris. We also have a Dyson animal which we sometimes use to follow up on the rug when company is coming over, but it's great for general maintenance cleaning. The battery life is very impressive! Our house is small at ~1400 sq ft, and the vacuum will do almost the entire house on one charge.

OMG, this is the best investment I have made in a long time. This would be the Best Wedding or Birthday gift for anyone. Its a bit expensive but Totally worth it!. I thought I was doing good in vacuuming my house once a week. But after one round around my house, I had to empty the reservoir 3 times before it was totally clean. It has a timer for the days and times for it to Vacuum. Plus it docks itself when the battery is running low for a recharge......Totally, totally Love IT!!!!!

Very good. Does it's job, but doesn't always go back home on its own. It does great picking up dust and dog hair!

Replaced an older Robot. Works good but seems to have shorter battery life and it does get stuck on more things than the old one does. Still picks up a lot of pet dirt so wouldn't be without it.

We have a busy household with two students, two working adults, and two furry dogs. I wasn't sure about investing in a robot vacuum but I had fired my cleaners and vacuuming was the bane of my existence. When I received a large gift card from work before Black Friday, I decided to splurge on a robot vac. Did a lot of research on different brands and models to determine the best bang for the buck, and decided on the iRobot Roomba 860 Robot Vacuum because of the AeroForce cleaning system, rubber rollers, and HEPA filter. This Roomba has run every single day since I bought it in November 2016. It is now May 2018 and I am so thankful every day that I bought this!! It works like a champ as long as you keep it clean and maintained. I clean the rollers and empty the canister daily, and change the filter on a regular basis. I should probably replace the rubber rollers soon, but they still work great. I like to tinker, so taking small pieces apart to remove tangled hair and debris is a cinch for me, and definitely prolongs the life and efficacy of the device. I even had the dreaded "poop roll" happen, but since I am not inclined to toss a $500 device because of a little dung, I found a youtube video showing how to take the thing apart, cleaned and sanitized it, then put it back together - good as new! Now I make sure I use the light tower to avoid the one area where my dog might have an accident. There are more up-to-date models now with apps and remotes, and I'm sure those are great. Even without them, I don't want to be without my Roomba.

We recently purchased a new home and the floors are dark wood. 2 dogs who shed white hair and the new floors did not mix. Looked for a few weeks before deciding the roomba was for us. The i860 has been great. We set the schedule, and let the the robot do the rest. Every dayvwhen we come home the floors are clean. It'll get stuck here and there, but it goes the whole house on one trip and we empty the bin daily, lots of hair. Could not be happier!

We love the iRobot named Roomba. The timer is set for the same time each day. Roomba does a great job picking up hair from our English Pointer. You can't sweep it. She vacuums for an hour. It saves me time if I want to wash the floor after she vacuums. The kitchen floor looks so clean. I no longer see dog hair when the sun shines on the floor. It is important to empty it and clean the filters each time Roomba vacuums.

had the 770 and now the 860. quieter and bucket seems a bit smaller but love it does a great job

Well we had the 760 and loved it. we upgraded to the 860. I think it is ok the two things that at the most different is the filter from 2 to 1. I do not like the new placement of the filter and find it not as easy to clean. the other is the collection box I think due to the filters new location it fills quicker. other than that it does a great job and very handy in between a thorough cleaning.

best roomba so far, really quite, easy to clean and great battery life

The Roomba works as advertised. It does a nice job of picking up dog fur (lab) and general dust. It does a better job on hard floors than on carpet. You do need to clear the floor so that things aren't picked up or knocked over. Like others have noted, it would be nice if the dust bin was larger so that it did not need to be emptied so often (~every 30 min).
